Chapter Two
When her gaze collided with his, her heart raced with fright.
His eyes were deep and fixed steadfastly on her, but the next moment, he averted his gaze without a trace of emotion, lowered his eyelids, and wore an expression of utter indifference, as if having seen her was nothing but an illusion and he had never truly looked at her at all.
Claura Wood seemed to be talking to him, and Sofia Hamilton saw the corners of his mouth curve into a slight smile, instantly softening the stiffness and coldness from his face.
Sofia quickly turned away, no longer looking in his direction.
Such a scene was too glaring, every additional glance was injurious.
On her way back, Sofia was lost in thought the entire time and didn't hear what Arthur Baker was saying clearly, she simply responded vaguely, "Mhm."
Arthur Baker turned to look at her, "Then I'll pick you up tomorrow."
"Ah?"
Sofia was startled, had she agreed to something just now?
