Chapter 60 - part 59

Third Person POV

+

"Hello." Müller said as the phone call connected.

"You did good, I was told that the seeds of doubt are planted already." The person on the other side of the phone praised.

"Should I move onto the next phase of the plan?" Müller inquired.

"Not yet, I'm enjoying things this way. Let them drain their brains trying to figure out what's happening for a little while more." The other person's tone seemed cynically joyful.

"It's been a week." Müller simply stated.

"Another week would do, I want their doubts to turn into an unwavering certainty. Only then do we have a shot at achieving our goal." The person said, all traces of humour vanishing from their voice. "Remember, Emma Knights should not know." They added.

"Understood." Müller complied dryly.

"Why? You don't like hiding things from your boss?" The person humoured.

"Mrs. Knights is not my boss." Müller responded firmly.

"Glad to hear that. I'll call you when it's time for phase two." They said before hanging up the phone.

Müller held the phone in front of him, looking at it intently. He didn't know if he would regret doing what he was doing now, he only knew that it felt like it's the right thing to do.

However the right thing to do is not always necessarily the good thing to do.

He had a promise he had to keep even if cost him his life, he's willing to dive into that life again just for the sake of bringing an end to this mess they started once and for all.

Müller was deep in his thoughts when Gisela hugged his left leg with one of her hands as she carried her bear in the other. "Onkel, when will we be returning home?" The little girl asked.

"Soon, sweetheart. We'll be going back very soon." He said as he lifted her up and settled her on his lap before he started rocking her to sleep since it was quite late.

"I miss momma and papa and Giu." The little girl said yawning before she was fast asleep.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart, but I'm doing it for your sake." He murmured slowly and kissed her forehead softly.

"Sir!" One of the bodyguards he brought with him came into the room where he and Gisela were. Müller glared at him when Gisela stirred in her sleep due to his raised voice. "Sorry, sir." The bodyguard said, bowing slightly as Müller rocked the little one back to sleep.

"Go to the office, I'll meet you there when I tuck Ela in." Müller ordered not looking at him.

"But, sir, it's quite urgent." The bodyguard said.

"I don't care how urgent it is, you will not disobey my orders ever again!" Müller hissed quietly so that he doesn't wake the little girl in his arms. "Wait for me in the office, I'll be there shortly." He repeated his order.

The bodyguard nodded his head in obedience and exited the room.

Müller stayed in his place for a while to make sure Ela has fallen asleep before he carried her in his arms and went upstairs to the room he specialised for her. It was a spitting image of the one she had back home, he wanted to make her feel as comfortable as she could while away from home. That's why he spent months decorating the room to look exactly like hers which caused the plan to be delayed. The little girl was his foremost priority, he didn't want this to seem as kidnapping whatsoever. He wanted her to believe that it's exactly what he told her, that she's staying with him while her parents are abroad on a business trip.

He laid her down on her bed and stayed with her for a while in case she woke up or stirred in her sleep since it was only few minutes ago when she fell asleep.

He was caressing her hair softly when he heard shuffling behind him, he looked at his wrist watch before he stood up. "You're here." He moved aside so the other person could see the sleeping little girl.

"How's she?" The cloaked person who was barely visible in the dim lit room asked.

"Other than missing her parents, she's doing great." Müller replied, nonchalantly.

"I know you're uncomfortable with this setting, but always remember this little girl is the one who would benefit most from it all. As long as they're out there targeting the heirs to the business, she'll never be safe." The person said.

"She could've been left with her parents, Adam's more than capable of protecting her." Müller argued.

"I'm sure he is, but I don't want his identity compromised especially now that they're in desperate need of getting ahold of something that could save them from drowning. They're on the verge of bankruptcy. After Emma lost her memories and A.L disappeared the shareholders don't believe their little story of the power of attorney anymore, but if they came to find out the identity of the Protecters and the Head Family they can be saved and we can't allow that to happen." The person explained, calmly.

"Adam can protect himself and the Head Family just perfectly, I don't see why are we keeping him in the dark when he would be a great help to us." Müller said, frustrated.

"Were you even listening to anything I said!" The person snapped. "Adam may be strong, but The Protecters are not his only strength. The Protecters and The Head Family identities were kept a secret for a reason! Being unknown is their greatest advantage because no matter how strong the two families are they can't face all of the underworld families that are coveting their power coming after them, by themselves. Their defences are bound to be breached if the attacks keep on coming form everywhere around them. There's only so much two families can do." The person's tone held a hint of irritation.

"We only know who the Protecters are, we still don't know who the Head Family is." Müller stated.

"We don't need to know, nor is it our job to know. We only need to bring those greedy bastards who messed with us to their knees. Let the underworld handle the underworld matters." The person said.

"Do we have to keep her for another week?" Müller said, referring to the sleeping little angel.

"You do know they were planning to kidnap her at one point despite what that old greedy geezer told Rob? We're doing this so that she's safe once she gets back to her father's house. They won't target her anymore because you already executed their plan for them, they won't need her anymore once they have Emma's most trusted person by their side." The person explained. "So, yeah, we need to keep her for as long as we could to turn the illusion into reality." They added.

"Understood." Müller nodded his head in compliance.

There was a knock on the door few moments later. "Who is it?" Müller inquired.

"You're needed downstairs, sir. It's urgent." The same bodyguard from earlier said through the door.

"I'm coming." Müller said. "I'll take my leave then." He said turning to look at the person in the shadows of the room only to find them gone.

He proceeded to the door to see what the urgent matter that needed his attention is, knowing that the person would come back later to see Gisela when the room is empty seeing that he ticked them with the same topic that they went through over and over again from the moment they devised the plan.

"What the hell are you doing here!" Müller boomed when he entered his office and saw the person sitting on one of the expensive leather chairs opposite form his chair.
