Chapter 36 - AM I REALLY A MONSTER NOW?

The words "Eat them" kept echoing in his head, as if someone else was in control of his body. Axel's gaze fell upon Ave, who was sleeping peacefully. He could hear the sound of blood in her heart, the rhythm of her heartbeat. The urge to kill them all grew stronger as he listened to the increasing heartbeats of everyone around him.

"No, no, no," Axel murmured to himself, hands firmly pressed against his ears in an attempt to block out the voice.

His eyes glowed fiercely red, his sharp fangs and claws on display, along with the rough scales on his face.

He leaned closer to Ave, his mind not thinking straight as his body felt like it's been controlled by someone else, his fangs ready to taste her blood and flesh.

"Eat her!" the voice continued to echo in his ears, causing him pain. Everything around him, the room, the players were all bloody red, as if that was the only color his eyes could see. Axel groaned in agony, trying to block out the voice, but it only grew stronger. Instead of biting Ave, he plunged his fangs into his own arm, draining his own blood. He then took a bite from his skin, consuming his own blood.

Axel, feeling fully satisfied and a little bit calm, took a last glance at the other players before standing up and making his way out of the house into the dark street.

By now, his red glowing eyes had changed back to his normal eyes, his fangs and sharp claws had disappeared, and the sharp rough scales on his face had also vanished.

Standing with sorrow written all over his face in the dark street, a hundred meters away from the house where the other players were, Axel soon looked down at his bleeding arm. Pain and sorrow were evident on his face, but they were soon replaced by sudden shock and surprise when the once bleeding arm healed in an instant the moment Axel glanced at it.

"What the heck?" Axel murmured to himself as he held onto the once bleeding arm. "Am I really a monster now?" he added, with a heavy sigh, as he raised his head to look at the night sky.

I must be going crazy gradually... My head is so heavy tonight. A heavy rainfall would be so nice to cool down my head with its heavy shower, Axel thought to himself with a deep sigh.

Suddenly, the night sky became cloudy with the promise of rain. The clouds were low and dark, and the wind was beginning to pick up. A few fat drops of rain started to fall, splattering against the pavement. The wind whipped the drops around, sending them in all directions. Then, the sky opened up and the rain began to pour down in earnest. The drops were cold and hard, beating against the ground and soaking Axel from his cinnamon hair to his feet and everything in sight. Lightning flashed across the sky, followed by a loud clap of thunder. The rain was unrelenting, washing away everything in its path.

Axel stood rooted on the spot, allowing the rain to keep falling on his head.

Did the rain start because I thought about it too? Oh... no... it must be a coincidence, Axel thought to himself with a loud groan. There's no way the rain would start because I want it to, Axel said with a confused expression, and soon gave out a loud laugh at his crazy thoughts. But what if it's true? This might also be part of my powers.

Darn it! Axel cursed as he gritted his teeth in anger. The system has confirmed that I now possess the powers of the fourth. Anthony already said that I'll wish to die after finding out what I'll become after he's gone, He was so happy that I was the one who killed him, since he knew I'll be receiving his monster powers.Axel thought to himself with his head bowed in dejection.

The rain continued to fall heavily, but Axel raised his head to look at the night sky. The rain didn't bother his eyes as he was able to look directly at the night sky despite the downpour. "The rain can stop now or else everywhere will soon be flooded," Axel thought, and immediately the rain stopped falling. The wet floor became dry as if the rain hadn't fallen at all, except for Axel who was still dripping wet from head to toe. He soon made his way back to the house where the other players were staying.

The sun peeked over the horizon, bathing the world in a golden light. The sky was clear and blue, with just a few fluffy clouds drifting by. The air was fresh and crisp, with a hint of springtime in the breeze. Birdsong filled the air, and the trees rustled gently in the wind. The ground was covered in dew, sparkling like diamonds. Everything felt new and alive, as if the world had just woken up from a long slumber. The morning was full of promise and possibility, and the world was ready to be explored.

Axel sat close to the window, enjoying the morning freshness. He had already changed his clothes from the night before, not wanting the other players to witness the bloodstains and bite marks on his previous clothes.

"Good mor..Oh darn it! Why are you sitting down there like that, you scared me," Ave said as she held onto her chest in fear upon seeing Axel by the window.

"What are you scared of?" Axel asked with a smirk, gazing at her before shifting his gaze back to the outside view.

"Why are you sitting by the window early in the morning? Are you too idle this morning? You don't have anything to do?" replied Ave, her tone now hard as she glared fiercely at Axel.

"I couldn't sleep last night. I've been sitting down here since last night," replied Axel, his gaze still fixed outside even though his words were directed at Ave.

"What the hell is he saying? Couldn't sleep last night. If you ask me, I'd say you're the one who had a good night's sleep here, since you lost consciousness and didn't wake up until we all went to bed," Ave replied as she rolled her eyes and began walking away.

"I woke up in the middle of the night though. I could hear the sound of all your heartbeats and the speed of blood flowing through your veins," Axel said, stopping Ave midway.

"Hear the sound of our heartbeat? And the speed of blood flowing in our veins. Can this fool just cut the crap. Bad liar!" Ave thought to herself and began walking away.

"I'm not lying though. I could hear everything. And mind you, I'm not a fool," replied Axel, stopping Ave midway as she turned to look at him with a confused expression.

"Did you just read my mind now?" Ave asked, her eyebrows and face stretched in confusion.

"Yes!" Axel replied.
