Chapter 6 - NEW SKILL UNLOCKED

Axel and the other players quickly covered their ears from the deafening sound and shielded their eyes to prevent debris from entering.

Ding!

(Congratulations to the winners! You have successfully completed the first game with the first pawn.)

Axel finally opened his eyes after hearing the system announcement. He was stunned by the scene before him. His tool, an axe, slipped from his hand in shock.

"We did it!" Livi whispered, slowly lifting her head. Her expression turned to fear as she surveyed the gruesome scene.

The remaining players stood in a pool of blood, surrounded by lifeless bodies on the floor.

Ding!

(All the losers had been eliminated, leaving only five players who had passed the first mission.)

Axel stood frozen, his mouth agape in shock. After collecting himself, he approached one of the dead bodies and knelt down beside it.

"Their heads were blown off, just like the old man," he announced as he examined each corpse.

"So, we're the only ones who survived the first game?" Rian asked, shaking his head in disbelief.

"The five of us," a voice echoed from a corner. The dreaded man and a slim lady revealed themselves. Axel had seen them in the hospital before the first game.

"You guys made it," Rian said with a smile that quickly faded. "Are we the only ones left?" Riam asked, his face filled with disbelief.

"Damn! Is this a chess game or a death game?" the slim lady asked. "I really thought I was going to die."

"Everyone thought they were going to die, Rosa," the dreaded man said with a heavy sigh.

"I'll protect you," Livi mimicked, tears streaming down her face. "You lied to the little girl. You couldn't protect her," she added, holding the headless body of the young girl and weeping profusely.

"The system clearly stated that if you couldn't kill at least ten zombies, you would still die," Rian defended. "So how was I supposed to save a young girl's life when I was still fighting to save my own?"

"But what the hell is responsible for blowing their heads off?" Axel asked, his eyebrows furrowed. "I can understand the pawn's head being blown off since we met her in the game world, but what about the other players? They came to this game world with us, right?"

"The pawn is also a human being, Axel. Everyone killed by that damn system are humans," Rian said, his expression enraged.

"Something must be responsible for blowing their heads off, though," Axel said, placing his hand on his chin. "Is there a chip planted in our heads?" he asked, his expression shocked, causing the other players to turn their gaze to him, each with a shocked expression on their faces.

Cracks... cracks... cracks...

Suddenly, thunder roared, and bright lightning struck, and the rain poured down heavily as if the heavens were enraged.

"Even the heavens are angry about this bloody massacre," Livi murmured, her head bowed in sadness and tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Are you sure we're still in Canada?" the dreaded man asked. "Because I don't seem to understand what the hell is going on anymore," he added, his expression enraged and let out a heavy sigh.

"We're in the game world, even though we're still in Canada," Rian replied, his face dejected. "Wouldn't it have been better to have just died in the real world?"

Ding!

(All players should leave the game stadium and proceed to the hospital to receive your reward for the first game.)

"To hell with the rewards!" Livi cursed bitterly.

What exactly is going on? Rosa asked, her body tensed up. Isn't this supposed to be a game? Why are people dying? She added, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Ding!

(Please proceed to the hospital. The stadium will be blown off in thirty minutes.)

"We should get going," Axel said with a heavy sigh. "We don't want to stay here with the dead bodies."

"So many lives wasted," Livi said with a sad expression as she watched the lifeless bodies on the floor, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"May their souls rest in peace," Rian said, his expression sad, and let out a heavy sigh.

"Enough of the pity scene, let's go back to the hospital," the dreaded man said coldly and walked towards the stadium exit.

"To survive in this world, we still have a lot to learn," Axel said. "I won't die easily without finding out about this world," he added, his expression determined, and walked out of the stadium.

The other players followed behind, each one of them not uttering a word until they reached the hospital.

Ding!

(Congratulations once again on completing the first mission. You all performed exceptionally well.)

(There are five different boxes on the table. Each player should choose the one with their name on it.)

The players turned their attention to the table and approached it. Each player proceeded to open their boxes, revealing a pill.

All players had the same yellow pill, except for Axel, who had a blue pill.

"What is this?" Livi asked, her eyebrows furrowed as she held the yellow pill in her hand.

Ding!

(Both pills have different functions. The yellow pill is called the 'energy emerging' pill, while the blue pill is the 'golden vision' pill," the system explained.)

"I don't trust this system, to be honest," Rian groaned angrily. Many lives were just lost because of it.

"What if we take this pill and our heads end up getting blown off?" Rosa asked, her body tense with frustration.

"We should trust the system," Axel said, causing all players to turn their gaze to him, their expressions shocked. "It brought us here in the first place. If we want to survive in this strange world, we can only follow its guidance," he added confidently.

Ding!

(I was right in giving you the right gift after all. You're the smartest of them all. I'm taking a liking to you.)

"Enough with the nonsense!" Livi yelled angrily, her gaze fixed on the system before shifting back to Axel.

"And you?" she asked. "Are you dumb? Why would you trust a machine that you know nothing about?" she added, raising her eyebrows at Axel.

"Guess he's really dumb," the dreaded man said with a smirk.

"I'm not going to use this pill," Rian said. "I'd be a fool to do so."

Ding!

(Your loss!)

The pill is a reward from the system, and taking it only grants access to a special ability. Taking it doesn't mean death, as the system doesn't have to resort to that method before killing any player it wishes to eliminate. Axel thought to himself with a smirk and took a last glance at the pill. Ignoring Rian's words, he swallowed the pill.

Ding!

(A new skill unlocked.)

(The golden vision eyes level: 10/100)

( Congratulations, player.)
