Anthony had been secretly following Axel and Livi since they left the hospital. Emerging from the darkness, he called out to Livi, causing both her and Axel to turn their heads in his direction.
"What's wrong?" Anthony asked, placing his hand on Livi's shoulder as he approached them. His eyebrows furrowed, demanding an answer.
"It's nothing," Livi replied. "What are you doing here?"
"I followed you. I don't trust this guy," Anthony said, his tone filled with anger as he shot a hateful gaze at Axel before turning back to Livi.
"Alright then, come along," Livi said, walking away into the dark night. "Let's grab some food at the store." She motioned for Anthony to join her.
"You?" Anthony said, his gaze fixed on Axel, who returned the intense stare. "What did you do to her?" he demanded, raising his eyebrows.
"You better hurry up and meet your girl," Axel said with a smirk. "And make sure to keep a close eye on her, or I might just have my way with her." He licked his lips seductively and threw a wink at Anthony.
"You?" Anthony yelled angrily.
"Hurry up and let's go," Livi's voice echoed from the night sky.
"I'll be back for you," Anthony whispered into Axel's ear, his anger evident in his tone. "I'm coming, Livi." He walked towards Livi, leaving Axel alone on the desolate street.
Axel groaned angrily before following Livi and Anthony.
"If only we could have things for free in the real world," Livi said as she continued to fill the basket with food from the shelves. "There wouldn't be poor people lying on the cold floor, begging for money," she added, as she continued shopping.
"Yeah, but that's just wishful thinking," Anthony replied, also adding items to the basket.
Livi handed over the basket full of food items to Anthony and walked over to the salesgirl's desk, leaning on the table with a smile on her face. "Did you know I used to work at a supermarket?" she asked, catching Anthony's attention.
"I knew all the salesgirls at the supermarket always looked beautiful," Anthony replied, caressing Livi's face.
"Your card, sir!" Livi asked, stretching her hand towards Anthony with a light chuckle.
Axel walked in on the couple displaying love and affection towards each other.
"Why is it so dark in here?" Axel murmured to himself. "Thank God for the bright moonlight that brightens the dark streets at night."
"What are you doing here?" Anthony asked, shining his flashlight on Axel's face angrily. "Why didn't you return to the hospital?"
"It's not like I'm not allowed to be here," Axel said, ignoring Anthony's angry voice. He moved closer to the alcoholic drinks shelf and began stuffing his basket with different drinks. "I'm not disturbing you and your girlfriend, so just ignore me and let me shop in peace."
"Good that you're here then," Livi said, her gaze fixed on Axel. "We've bought a lot of food items, but we still need a cooker to cook it. So, you can help with that. Or what are those muscles for?"
"But I'm here, baby. You can-"
"Shut up!" Livi yelled at Anthony before he could complete his statement. "You are to make yourself useful too, so get ready to work." She added, with her gaze still fixed on Axel before rolling her eyes.
Axel couldn't help but stare at the strange woman before him. Isn't this the same woman he just threatened? Yet, she still had the guts to talk to him.
"Hurry up and stop standing there," Livi yelled, bringing Axel back from his thoughts. "The cooker cart is over there." She said and walked majestically in front of Axel towards the cart, leaving Axel in total awe.
So weird! Axel murmured quietly and followed her.
The three of them shopped to their heart's content, filling their bags with different varieties of food and drinks. Axel took the smallest gas cooker and carried his shopping bag full of alcoholic drinks, carrying them back to the hospital with Livi and Anthony following, each having shopping bags in their hands.
"Damn! I almost thought you were going to spend the whole night in the supermarket," Rosa grumbled as she ran towards them and helped with the shopping bags.
"Thank goodness! How did you know I've been craving this?" Rian asked, opening a bottle of alcoholic wine and gulping it down.
Axel also opened a bottle of whiskey, gulping it down with a heavy sigh and sat down on the tiled floor.
"Damn! There's no gas in the cooker," Rosa revealed, her face full of sadness as she stood in front of the group.
"Arrgh! We forgot," Livi groaned angrily. "What's the point of the two fools that followed me, despite the fact that they were the ones who picked up the cooker?" She said as she threw a hateful gaze at Axel and Anthony.
"Do you even think there's still gas in the game world?" Rian asked, his eyebrows scrunched up. The other players returned the gaze, each with a confused expression.
"What do you mean by that?" Axel was the first to ask.
"I've been in this game world for over a year now. I can't use any phone, no matter how many I have taken in the phone store. The phones never switch on. The cars are rendered useless too, even the ones that use gas. There's no fuel or gas in the game world. I've searched far and wide for it," Rian explained.
Axel looked at Livi, who rolled her eyes away.
"Someone has been here for a year and still doesn't know that there isn't gas in the game world," Axel said, shaking his head. "Who's the idiot here now?"
"You..." Livi started to say, but Rosa cut her off.
"Damn! How are we supposed to eat then?" Rosa asked, her expression sad as she rubbed her stomach.
"Only Livi and I have been stuck in this game world for over a year. We know we can use the hospital heater whenever we want to cook since there's always light in the hospital, even though there's no light in other places," Rian said, pointing to a room located at the left side of the hallway.
"Yahhhh! Let's go and prepare something delicious now, Livi," Rosa said, pulling Livi up. They both walked into the room, leaving the three guys behind.
The three guys sat down in a circle with hard alcoholic drinks placed in the middle. They gulped them down, enjoying the moment.
"A cigarette would have gone better with this," Rian said. "How could you two forget to pick up some cigarettes at the supermarket?"
"You should have come along if you were interested in smoking," Anthony retorted.
"The rich are the pitiful ones in this world. They work so hard in the real world to accumulate wealth, but it doesn't have any value in the game world," Axel said with a smirk.
"That's why I hate the rich. They keep buying useless things and gathering wealth, unable to help the less privileged ones. In the end, they leave everything behind when they die," Anthony added with a smirk.
"I wish we could keep living in the game world. Then I wouldn't have to live my meaningless life in the real world," Rian said with a heavy sigh.
"Who are you in the real world?" Anthony asked, his gaze fixed on Rian.
"I'm just a wretched person. I have no house, no properties, no wife and kids. I keep borrowing money and spending it on girls in clubs. The gangs were right in ending my life that fateful day. If not, I would never have experienced this freedom in the game world. Trust me, this game world is just the best.
"Well, I'm a tough gangster in my modern world, but I'm being betrayed by my very close friend who accused me of stealing the gang boss's money from selling hard drugs. The boss is ruthless and doesn't tolerate any funny business with his money. He's even been known to harm his own family members when it comes to finances," Anthony said, his anger evident in his tone and his expression filled with hatred.
"So, you were killed by your cult boss?" Rian asked, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"No, actually, I was killed by that damn best friend of mine. He was ordered to kill me, and he did. Can you believe it? My best friend of fifteen years," Anthony revealed. "But once I'm done with this damn game and return to the real world, I'm definitely going to take revenge on that bastard with my own hands," he declared, his tone serious.
"No wonder you weren't interested in forming teams earlier," Rian said, nodding in understanding.
"What about you? How did you die?" Rian asked, his gaze fixed on Axel, who continued to gulp down his alcoholic drink.
"I am death itself. You can't kill death. The heavens are really on my side, which is why I'm in this game world to find a way back to the real world," Axel said, his expression filled with hatred and vengeance. He crushed the whiskey bottle neck with his bare hands, causing blood to drip from his hand. "I'll make them pay," he added.
