Chapter 12 - Betrayal

"Yeah I know him," someone whispered from across the table as he immediately knew that people were starting to know who he was and not just the members of the family.

Since he was the one with majority of the shares in Jake's company which made him the rightful heir and he was also the CEO of the top grossing conglomerate in the country which placed him second in rank to the richest in the world, this made him popular amongst the wedding guests.

They had not expected that someone of this caliber would show up to the wedding.

Little by little they started to cheer for him and give applause to Janet for being with him.

Someone even nudged her with a wink, "You are one lucky woman for bagging such a champ."

She had hit the jackpot some of them said as they got out their phones to record the man.

Soon enough, the news crew and reporters who had arrived early for Jake's wedding turned to Alastor and his date to cover their story for the wedding.

Janet smiled and waved at them as she knew she was in big trouble. Alastor on the other hand o stern gaze while the cameras flashed in his face. From time to time he would turn to look at her with his eyes giving off murderous stares.

"I'm sorry," she whispered to him but he was too angry to agree to her words. He was visibly mad at how she had turned the entire story around.

This was supposed to be a small thing where they would appear and he would be her date for the day. That was how it was to be.

He had earlier accepted her request to be her husband even if it was a fake one and she had been elated by that only to change it later on.

He had already made up his mind that he would appear as her friend at the wedding and here he was having to deal with this new development.

She had lied to him. It was not like she was the first person to do it but he had thought she would be different but she was just like the others.

"I'm sorry," she apologized again but they were gone past apologies.

Jake sat at the table with his face visibly mad at what was going on. This was his wedding and it had suddenly turned into a meet and greet for the man and his date.

The attention of the entire garden had diverted from him and his bride to his ex-girlfriend and her date.

This was not how he had planned for it to go and seeing this take a different turn made him ball his hands into fists.

He was also angry that Janet was marrying this man and it made him wonder if he had done wrong by breaking up with her.

It was clear that she was doing visibly better by being with this man.

He had not even seen this match coming. He had no idea Alastor would be present at the wedding. This changed everything.

He stared at Alastor to see if he could pick a fault with the man but he could not see anything to make jest about. The man was a perfect man with no fault.

Randa who was seated beside him was raging with anger as she stood to her feet and slammed her chair to the ground.

"Baby…" he called to her as she ignored him. "Honey, wait, I can handle this."

"Handle what?!" she yelled. "This was supposed to be my wedding, my fucking wedding, but somehow it's turned into their fans greeting. What's next? Our honeymoon would be their speech giving day too?"

"I can fix this. I promise that I can fix it," he held her hand trying to keep her from leaving as she ripped her hand away from his.

"You are a mess who can't keep his past under control. I can't believe I'm being embarrassed on my wedding day," she said before storming out of the venue in anger.

Jake had no choice but to run after his bride but their presence was not enough to turn the heads of everyone present for they were all focused on the business mogul.

"Excuse me," Alastor said to the crowd before standing to his feet and walking towards the restroom which had Janet running after him.

They entered as he went straight for the sink to lean on while she locked the door of the restroom to avoid anyone from getting in.

She knew she had messed up really badly this time and she was ready to apologize for it.

"Look, I know I messed up but you have to believe that I had no other choice."

"No other choice?!" his voice reverberated through the walls of the room. "You could have easily told the truth! What is the meaning of this? You tell me one thing when we are alone and then you say another thing when we suddenly get together."

"I said I was sorry."

"Sorry doesn't cut it," he sighed, straightening up as he turned to look at her with a stern look on his face. He was tired of dealing with her lies and he wanted something different.

"Please, you have to believe that I didn't know this was how it would end. I didn't even know you were this popular. I had no idea who you were. Please you have to believe me."

Her eyes teared up as she knew she had crossed the line with her lies.

"If I had known I would not have put you in that tight spot like that. I would have avoided it."

"Do not appear before me again," were his last words to her before he brushed past her, opening the door and exiting without looking back.

She could hear the uproar outside as the reporters followed the man around.

"Fuck," she sighed looking at herself in the mirror.
