Chapter 2 - The Strange Man

"So let me get this straight," she said with a light chuckle. "You give me all this space to get married behind my back with my own best friend?! How cruel are you?! It all means you were cheating! That's what it means."

"Firstly, I did not get married behind your back, I'm telling you now that I want to get married and I'm trying to let you know that it's over between us. That's number one. Number two is the fact that I wasn't really cheating if you look at it.

"I mean, I already explained to you that you could not give me a child even after attempting that with you countless times. You're barren."

"Oh so now it's my fault that you cheated on me. I can't believe this. You know what, screw you. I'm pretty sure you're the impotent one here and not me. Maybe if you had sex with another woman and got her pregnant then we could say that you're right."

He averted his gaze when she had said that and she immediately held her breath.

"Oh my God, you really did cheat on me," she gasped.

"I'm sorry Janet," he sighed. "But I needed to know if the fault was from me or from you and it turns out that I was right all along. Besides, she's pregnant and I want that baby."

"You couldn't even tell me this until tonight!" she yelled in anger slamming her hands on the table, rattling the items around as everyone in the restaurant looked at them.

"Stop. You're drawing attention to us and we don't need that," he warned, but she was past that at this point. She wanted the truth and he was hurting her even more by saying it.

"I don't care about the attention I'm drawing. How could you do this to me? You slept with my best friend and got her pregnant. You could not even talk to me about why I was not getting pregnant and you could have come up with a solution to help me do so."

"And how was I going to do it? By becoming a god and making your womb fertile again?"

"No," she said to her feet, taking up her purse and dropping his phone. "But by being a fucking human and taking me to a hospital first. I needed my boyfriend and you weren't there. You are horrible. And I hope I never get to see you again."

With that as her closing speech, she walked out of the restaurant while he took up his phone and ran after her.

"Janet!" he yelled as she walked even faster, cleaning her tears. "Janet!"

She entered her car, ignited it and drove it through the empty lot, driving it roughly on the road.

She cried, wiping off the tears as she was focused on distracting herself from the pain she was feeling.

Her heart pounded against her chest as she wanted the pain she was experiencing to stop.

She had treated him in the best way she could. She had been everything to him and helped him achieve his goals and he had turned around to treat her like she didn't even matter.

No. It was not going to end this way, she thought to herself. She was going to get these thoughts out of her head and she would do it the best way she could.

With a dangerous swerve which almost caused an accident, she got into a street to park in front of a club.

She got out with her purse, walked to the bouncer to show her I.d. card which got a grunt of approval from him as he opened the door for her to walk into.

The bright lights from the club and the loud music instantly made her forget about the pain she was having as she walked to the counter, slapping her hand against it in a loud manner.

"A martini, no ice. The straightest you can hand it to me," she said as the bartender chuckled.

"Damn, love. You okay?" he asked while starting to work her drink as she shrugged.

"Some men don't know how to keep their pants up, that is all," she danced to the music as the man poured her drink and slid it to her.

She drank it in one swoop as she smacked the table while letting the hot drink burn her throat.

That was more like it, she hissed. "Another!"

The man nodded, working up a second as she looked around to see the people there having the best time of their lives with each other.

This was a club. There was no need to feel so sad and angry about that loser. He could get hitched up with the devil for all she cared.

She was not going to cry for him any longer. She would get her life back and start all over again.

She was done being the pity bird.

Again and again she drank until she could feel her vision starting to blur out a bit. This was it.

With a shake of her head, she temporarily got her vision back before looking at the people dancing in the club, only to find a man in a black shirt and a black trouser standing in the midst of the club but not dancing.

His dark hair made him mysterious and she wanted a taste of this hot stranger.

"I'll be right back," she said to the bartender as he chuckled.

She stumbled off the stool she was sitting on before making her way through the crowd to the man.

"Hey!" she yelled at the man who turned to look at her with a brow raised. "What's a sexy club like you doing in a man like this?"

She was too drunk to know what she was saying and the man smiled at her joke.

She fell onto his shoulder, passing out as the music in the club got louder and louder.
