The next day, Emily's phone rang. She was not feeling sleepy as she had been up as early as 4am, but she was just tired. She managed to pick up the phone.
It was past noon already, she noticed. It was her mother calling. Someone she had gotten rid of from her life.
Her teeth gritted but she picked it up. "Hello," she forced herself from adding the 'mother' title.
"Ah my dear, thank goodness I was able to reach you!" Clara's breath was dragged and shaky. Like she was running a marathon race. "Thank goodness. I didn't see you as soon as I woke, and well, I went out. Came back to meet the whole room is a mess. A big one!"
Emily frowned, wanting her mother to calm down from all the taking. " Wait, do you want money? I just left and now you're already--"
"--shut it, you foolish child! Someone was trying to kill me, that's what happen. And it's not just me. Actually, I feel it's you they're trying to kill."
