Dual Mixed University is one of the largest universities in Cerulan, since every race, shifter, spell castor, and elemental can attend.
Most schools only allow one kind only. Like Morphing University only lets shifters attend, Night Children University is for vampires only, and so on. That's why DMU is one of the largest universities and is ranked as a tier four school.
The buildings are made out of white and grey stone, a lot of the buildings resembling ancient day Greek. We head towards Jupiter hall passing by young adults some in shifter form like the large black wolf with a blue streak sleeping under the shade of a tree, a griffin flying in the air chasing a book a tk is moving through the air, and a couple of elementals forming a sphere out of water and throwing it back-and-forth, not letting it lose its shape.
We step inside a building with a dome shaped ceiling, granight floors, and a skylight straight in the center. We go down a long hallway to the last door on the right.
Aunt Amanda knocks on the wooden door with a plaque reading Dean Breene and after a couple of seconds a high alto voice says, "You may enter." Gripping the silver handle Aunt Amanda turns the knob opening the door and steps in with me following right behind her.
We step to a spacious room with a deep dark brown wooden desk at the center of the room and rows of bookshelfs lining the walls touching the ceiling.
"Good morning, Patricia. I take it. You're doing well.?" Said Amanda taking a seat in one of the 2 brown leather arms chairs in front of the desk. Following her lead I take a seat in the other chair and stare at the beautiful woman with hair black as ink cut into a pixie cut seated behind the desk wearing a black suit jacket over a dark grey button down blouse.
Her dark green eyes flicker back and forth between us before she clasps her hands togethe leaning forward resting them on her desk.
My eyes dart around the room not noticing any personal touches besides multiple certificates framed in intervals throughout the room. My eyes land back on her very neat and organized desk. The bright sunlight coming in through the huge 3 windows behind her glint off the tip of her pointy ears
"I am. Is there a reason a history professor is on my campus when she's not scheduled to work until next week? I'm assuming it has something to do with the lady sitting next to you." She said.
Leg crossed over the other in a position that looks relaxed but I can see the vein popping out on her forehead and fingers gripping the arm of the chair hard tells me this is not easy for her. "Indeed, it does." Replies Amanda in a short curt tone. "Is all of this really necessary Patricia?" She asks.
"It is when I believe you're about to ask me for a favor using your position as the daughter of a counselor member, which you said when I hired you, you would never do but here we are." She says glaring at us.
Through clinched teeth Amanda grits out, "Out of respect for you as Dean and my boss I am holding my lion back. But if you don't release your aurora from around mine in the next 30 seconds I will not be responsible for my actions because my lion will take it as a direct challenge and trust me Patricia you will not like the outcome."
"Holy s***. They're having a battle of power. And if aunt Amanda hadn't said anything I wouldn't have even noticed. I barely suppress a shiver. You have got to be incredibly powerful to be able to not only hide your own power but to hide that you were using it to attack another.
And d***. I've felt aunt Amanda release her power before and at that time I had fallen on my knees barely able to breathe, plus she's a Gold and Golds are known for their ridiculously crazy lion pride. So for aunt Amanda to just sit there and just essentially block speaksof her strong will and great control.
Patricia all of a sudden slumps back in her chair breathing hard hands flat on her desk. Aunt Amanda removes her leg from over her other leg and this time really does relax, back molding to the chair. Her hands now in her lap.
Expelling a sigh aunt Amanda raises her brow, "I only wanted to ask to use the power stone, which needs you're a permission for use. I was also going to ask for you to keep this matter quiet because I don't want any other Gold besides my self to know about this and as my good friend I thought this wouldn't have been a problem but clearly I was wrong." She finishes in an indigent tone.
Eyes cast down, with an embarrassed tone Patricia rubbs the back of her neck while saying, " I am so sorry Amanda. I've had a bad week and am a little on edge. This is private information and isn't supposed to be known yet, but a Prince from the fifth Royal family will be attending our university this year." She says a bit sheepishly looking exhausted.
"Why is that a bad thing? I would think that that would be a good thing." Aunt Amanda asks clearly astonished at the news and so am I.
Rubbing a hand down her face she says, "It would be if it weren't for their royal guards breathing down my neck trying to tell me how to do my job, and on top of that, I have to hire a lot more security in enforce the visitor policy much more heavily."
Taking a deep breath she continues, "Plus some powerful people all of a sudden wants to transfer their kids here because in the higher upper upper circles, word is out about him attending. Everything has just been a headache and I'm seriously tired of thinking that because of their position or status I'm not the f****** dean of the school." By the time she finishes, she's practically yelling.
Note to self do not aim for dean of a university as a career choice.
Clearing her throat aunt Amanda says to Patricia, "After Harley's testing, I'll go get the good stuff from Shane's office and we'll have a drink."
"That will be really great. I appreciate it." Patricia says with the first genuine smile appearing on her face since we arrived.
Standing up she gestures with her hand towards the door, "Shall we?" She asks.
Getting up out of our seats we follow Patricia out of her office where she leads us to the auditorium. Looking around, the room is beautiful with a skylight ceiling. Standing on the enormous stage I could totally see myself playing here at night under the stars before a large audience.
