Chereads / Fated to the King of Death / Chapter 15 - The scorned devil

Chapter 15 - The scorned devil

Malia didn't know how else to convince, her ladyship that trying to escape from a place like this was impossible, she would have a better chance trying to escape from hell than here.

She wasn't permitted to speak on the emperor's behalf, they could have her tongue for revealing information.

But being a human, her ladyship is so naïve, Malia felt sorry for her, especially after what her family did to her, they should have never sent their daughter to a place like this if they loved her.

It shows just how unloved she was, probably that is why she looks so sad whenever she speaks about her family; she seemed hopeful that maybe one day one of them will come for her.

And now she considering escaping if they don't come for her, it's also because she didn't know what kind of person His Majesty is that is why she was a bit optimistic.

The king of death….

She wondered why he wasn't doing anything about it, when he knew what she was planning, according to the stories her grandmother told her while she was younger.

The famous story of the so-called glorious devil of Nosferatia…

The scorned devil.

The lord of hell.

They said, he could see everything, even if he wasn't there, he could hear everything, even to the last details of your thoughts, and if he willed it, within a second he could bring down an army of a thousand without even batting his eyelids.

His powers rivaled that of a god, but the only thing he was fit to bring was death, blood, and battle along with the shame and the disgrace that came with it.

Grandma would always say he had this advantage because he was cursed, and he would rarely wield that power but once he did it, no one would live to tell the tale.

His essence itself was destruction, you could die from breathing the same air as him if he willed it.

Malia was nervous, she knew that he could hear their conversations and even her thoughts right now, the most confusing thing was why was he choosing to ignore it?

She hoped he wasn't planning to kill Khalilah.

Khalilah might not know it but His Majesty Olive was said to have a deep grudge against humans and he is known to kill them on sight, but when he brought one to be his queen and not as the usual blood donor, everyone was going wild, even people that don't belong here.

She doesn't even want to imagine the kind of willpower he puts into not making her die in the instant, which is probably one of the reasons why he is keeping his distance from her.

Would a proud pure bloodied prince like him, ever agree to mate with a human, isn't that insulting of the royal court and the bloodlines of his ancestors? Would the court ever approve of this marriage, to the people of Nosferatia, humans are the lowest of the low, even lower than cattle and other animals.

The king and Emperor of Nosferatia should pride themselves, they are not allowed to touch humans unless it's for bleeding.

Malia was genuinely worried for Khalilah, one way or the other, she was bound to suffer, and cruelly, sometimes, she would wonder what the goddess was thinking when making matches like this.

Malia stooped down a little lower to allow her to blow out the candles, Khalilah on the other hand was asleep soundly on her bed, her chest heaving up and down rhythmically as she snored softly.

Malia adjusted the bedding and closed the windows of the room; it's dangerous to leave the windows open at night.

She hoped that whatever Olive was planning was not something that would destroy Khalilah.

She would love to tell her more, but then again, she would be killed if she said even the slightest wrong thing.

"On whose orders," Malia suddenly heard the unfamiliar voice amidst the darkness, and she froze in her position, every fiber in her being trembled and she understood the orders, immediately dropping down to her knees, bowing her head to the lowest. "I asked you a question, woman, on whose orders are you feeling sorry for the King's property?"

Malia was covered with sweat, in almost an instant, it was as though she was thrown into hell, and hanged over a lake of lava, her body trembled and her head became blank. She didn't know what to say, but one thing she knew, one more second of her silence, and her head would roll to the floor.

"P-Pardon me, Your Majesty." She stuttered, trying desperately hard to stop herself from trembling, sweat dropped to the marble floors and she heard his footsteps approach her.

"Are you mocking me?" He asked and she immediately shook her head. "Do you think the queen is your friend you could get to feel sorry for you. Have you forgotten where you are?"

She wanted to speak but it felt as though her voice was gone, an excruciating pain shot up from her gut, and she coughed a few times before blood gushed out from her slightly parted lips.

She fell to the ground, still hurling blood from her mouth, pain wrenched her entire being, this was it, King Olive was venting his anger on her and the chances of him killing her were more than a hundred percent.

"When I ask you a question, I expect you to answer." His sinister voice came back, like frozen needles stabbing into her skin.

Malia could tell he was directly above her, she struggled to speak but the pain in her throat was just too much, and he hadn't even touched her yet, but if she wanted to live, she knew she had to speak.

"P-Pardon me, Y-Your Majesty." She coughed again, more blood gurgling out of her mouth, she gritted her teeth as she forced out more words trying to ignore the deafening pain. "My lady is but a human, h-humans feel lonely if bored, I-I have not one evil intention. I-I am just doing my job."

"Whoever asked you to do that?" He stepped on her hands, and she bit down on her lips, trying to stop herself from screaming.

Khalilah was asleep, she reminded herself, and if she screamed, Khalilah would wake up to the horror happening in her bed chambers and she didn't want Khalilah to see something like this.

She heard a small chuckle, that came from the King, her heart hammered painfully in her chest, from both pain and fear, and she felt tears prickle in her eyes.

"Even in this position, you are still worried about her?" He chuckled even more, stepping harder on her hands, she bit down even harder on her lips, causing it to burst, still in refusal to scream out. "Um… You still wouldn't scream?"

Smirking in satisfaction, he pulled back his legs, a small relief washed over her, but she could tell her fingers are broken already, and they hurt like a bitch too.

"I'm impressed by your devotion towards the queen." He praised as he backed away from her, she could hear his footsteps receding as he disappeared into the darkness he came from and almost immediately, the pain in her chest reduced and slowly disappeared like it wasn't there in the first place.

Malia shuddered as she got up cleaning the blood from the floor, she was grateful she was able to endure the pain, as to why she was still alive, she still didn't know why he didn't kill her.

She managed to go back to her quarters, she was still coughing, the fear fresh in her mind, just how terrifying this man was, he didn't even raise a finger yet her world was in turmoil.

She didn't even know when he came inside the room, she didn't know, see, or feel anything until he spoke. She shuddered hugging into her pillows, the good thing was that she was still alive.

As for her broken fingers, they would heal up before morning, the regeneration is slower because she is in her human form, she could probably shift into her animal form but it is against the law of the palace.

"Malia," Khalilah called as she got up from her bed, her feet slipped to the ground, and as she looked around, everywhere was still dark. "Malia!"

The only audible thing was the echo of her voice, the windows were wide open and the cold breeze of the midnight flooded the room, sipping into the thin fabric of her evening garment. Fear crept into Khalilah's chest when she was met by the shadows of a man inside the room, she could barely see properly, but she knew someone was there.

"Hello!" she cried out trembling from the fear but the shadow didn't flinch, it was just standing there doing nothing but staring at her. "I can see you."

She stated with a slight tremble in her voice, after her declaration, she heard the footsteps approaching her, in fast strides and a pair of red eyes flashed at her.

"Ahh!" Khalilah screamed as she jumped out of bed, sun rays almost blinding her, Malia stopped whistling and rushed towards her lady.

"Your grace, are you okay?" She asked, Khalilah's dread-filled eyes left the material of her bedding to rest on Malia's concerned blue eyes, and she pulled her into a small brief hug immediately.
