"We've been walking for days now," Sophie grumbled, "do you even know where we're going?"
"Of course," I said. Although I knew how to get the place since I was constantly feeling the energy wave the closer I was to the place, I couldn't exactly tell where I was going to. It was a case of knowing about a place but not knowing how to get there.
"I think we should take a break for now," Sophie said, "I'm starting to feel exhausted."
Even though most cultivators could travel for days while some weeks without feeling tired, we couldn't go on since our current cultivation could only sustain us this far without any rest.
~ "Lads, do you need help?" A man asked as he appeared out of nowhere.
"Who are you?" I asked the man that had mysteriously appeared, "have you been following us all this while?"
"You better give us the answers we need," Sophie added, "I won't want to kill an old man or better still, torture you."
"Calm down you two," he said with a slight chuckle, "besides, it's not like the both of you can do anything to me."
"I'm only here to help you boy," he said before continuing, "or have you figured out a way to deal with the person creating the space fluctuation?"
"Not really, but how did you find out where I was going?" I asked with my brows furrowed, "or are the both of you working together?"
Ever since I decided to check out the source of the energy wave, I've been having this dreaded feeling and now that two mysterious people were getting involved, everything was becoming a bit suspicious besides, I have a feeling that what he said about us being unable to touch him was true.
"What do you mean? Or who are you referring to?" He asked.
"I'm talking of the semi Legendary rank cultivator at the academy," I said, "the both of you are working together right?"
"Why would she want to work together with some strange dude when she's already getting benefits for working for the king?" Sophie said, "besides, let's take down this guy, I don't trust hi-," Sophie said as she suddenly became unconscious.
"What did you do to her?" I asked angrily as I brought out my daggers, "I'll take you down even if it cost me my life."
Although Sophie and I were just friends, I was madly in love with her and although I wasn't sure if it was due to the previous host influence on me, I just knew I liked her and no one was allowed to hurt her.
"Boy put those daggers away, they can't do anything to me and even if a million you wanted to attack me, you still won't be able to do anything," he said, "besides, I only knocked her out temporarily so that we could talk."
"Why should I want to talk with you?" I asked as I calmed down a bit after hearing she was only unconscious.
"Maybe I've become too soft over the years," the man muttered as he straightened his messed up beards, "you know back then, none of my disciples dared to look me straight in the eyes but not only are you doing that, you also planned to attack me."
"What do you mean by disciple?" I asked looking a bit confused, "I'm nobody's discip- wait, don't tell me you're," I paused halfway as I realized who was talking to me before bowing down and apologizing.
"Forgive your stupid disciple," I said as I began to sweat buckets.
~ Damn you system, why didn't you tell me he was the lord of the underworld, I muttered as I cursed my system silently.
No wonder he wasn't bothered when I tried to attack him, this man could kill a million no, a billion amount of me without realizing it even if we all attacked him together. But, things were starting to get more complicated, why would the lord of the underworld show up for just a small energy wave?
"Boy, I'll try to tell you everything that's going on as fast as I can," he said as he gestured me to come closer before forming a seal around us.
"The energy wave you were sensing is not a regular energy wave or better still, it was created by someone like you, someone with a system."
"So that means I'm not the only system user in this world?" I asked looking a bit surprised.
"Of course not," I said.
"So much for thinking I was the MC with a really cool system," I muttered with a sigh.
"What are you talking about boy?" he asked as he glanced at me with a confused look, "as I was saying, this energy wave is created by a space-time system user."
"Space-time system user?" I muttered, "that person has the power to manipulate space and time itself?" I asked.
"Yes," he replied.
"Seriously," I cursed inwardly. This is why people says trust no one, after my transmigration, I was granted a system that made me feel special only for me to find out that some people had the same system I had and there was someone out there that even had a system that allowed him to control space and time itself."
"So why does the space time kid doing all this stuff? Is he practicing or just doing it because he's bored?" I asked.
"He's using the energy waves to lure other system user's and killing them under the pretense of having a duel," I said, "for now, he's still one of the strongest system users in this realm and I would have killed him myself but, the lords had a pact to not hurt any of their system users except we only have one system user or disciple left and that why I have to follow you to ensure your safety."
"The semi Legendary stage cultivator in the academy, is she also one of your disciples?" I asked.
"In a way, yes but at the same time no," he said, "it's a complicated story for another time."
To be honest, the whole transmigration concept was now starting to get a bit confusing. Originally, I taught the lord of the underworld was the only special being that allowed people transmigrate with systems but, it seems I was wrong.
"That's a lot of things you've said," I muttered, "I need time to process everything."
"Fine by me," he said, "also, here's a gift from me to you," he said as he gave me two kunai's.
"What am I supposed to do with this?" I asked.
"What are you supposed to do with a weapon?" he asked as he looked at me as if I was brain dead, "the blade of the kunai was forged from my hell flames so the blades are deadly and indestructible unless you're fighting a divine being like me."
Although I am a fan of daggers, I still accepted the kunai's happily, I mean who wouldn't accept a weapon that is indestructible and deadly at the same time.
"Alright boy, we have to stop our discussion for now," the lord of the underworld said before continuing, "your lover is about to wake up."
*Groans*, Sophie groaned as she began to regain consciousness.
"Kai, I feel light headed, what happened to me?" Sophie asked.
"Nothing happened," I said as I picked her up in a princess carry, "anyway, should we keep on going? Or should we take a break here?" I asked.
"Let's stop for now, I'm not in my peak form," Sophie replied weakly, "also, where did that old man go?" She asked.
"He's here and he doesn't mean any harm," I said, "you should know me better than everyone else, I would never do anything or allow anything to hurt you."
"I'll pretend I didn't hear any of that, and try anything silly and I'll show you why I'm called Sophie Winston when I'm better," she said with a light smile.
"Alright, I'll set up the tents," I said as a long night soon followed.
