Chapter 1 - DEVIL EQUINOX

 INTRO

I am the one true demon-angel, Ravedos. Born from the Supreme Deity and son of the malevolent Demon King. After having killed a mortal, my mother banished me to live in hell with my father, and I have become his second heir next to my little brother Darius.

Sweet and cunning has always looked up to me as an older brother. Firstly, my father calls both I and my brother to see him, "What do you think he needs us for, maybe to torture me for being so insolent last time he had summoned us!" I exclaimed.

"We do not know that! How could you be so sure big brother?" Darius said carefully, "Hmm, you are so caring even for a nothing such as me." We had arrived after our long flight and there was no show of our father only the demon he left as our king.

"We have arrived! What do you need?" "I thought your father taught you how to be a better dog. How disappointing that you speak to your king however you like. Now kneel and ask for forgiveness!" "Go ahead and punish me, I would rather die than kneel to shit like you."

"Well, your father told me to expect talk from you such as that, Ravedos your father has declared you as the new captain of the Sinister Twelve." A short pause of silence as I was surprised to hear such words. "Wha… W-wai… You must be joking! You ca-," I stuttered, choking on my own words, "Cannot be serious?" he asked rhetorically, "I do not like the idea of this, but you are powerful enough to be their captain, Ravedos."

"Hey captain are you alright?!!" asked an unknown man, "Huh… Yeah, I am fine. Why do you ask?" I said, "Well, you spaced out in the middle of A FIGHT!" he said, and the sound of gun fire filled the air.

"These demons are really starting to bug me right about now!" the man exclaimed, "LOOK OUT! GRENADE!!" shouted an unknown woman, and then a grenade exploded.

Fast forward 6000 years in the year 2036, how it all started at this point was only a day ago, yeah, a day ago! And it's all hell on earth.

 Chapter One

To begin with, I should say that my team and I were still in sleep for at least six years. We were initially supposed to wake up in the year 2050 where our armour would be used in a more appropriate environment.

But all those plans were disrupted by demons three hours before we were forced to wake up, I was grumpy because I needed a nap for twenty years after being awake for so long and I did not (six years was good enough) but then again then were a lot of tainted souls to take care off and pure souls to protect.

Besides, everything else just needed me to take a nap after years of being awake. Any way back to the part of this 'extravagant mission' just a day ago. So, we were still sleeping in pods, in a small military building that has an AI to wake us, if need be, armoury and weapons as well. *Alarm ringing*, A deafening sound awoke me and the pod I was in opened and fell to my knees, "Ah, what's that sound," I said in pain.

Honestly, the alarm was deafening because I have super hearing, and was like a sonic sound piercing my ears like sharp knives on my skin. First thought after falling out was, 'where is the off switch,' I turned off the alarm and asked the AI what the situation was, immediately I received the answer.

A demon invasion was happening in Downtime City, and I would have gone out to save it in a heartbeat, but I realized that doing it alone was a tad bit dangerous not for me, but for the people that may still be in the city. Therefore, I chose to get help and ordered the AI open up the other pods and that there were only three available and opened them up.

Three people emerged out the pods, one was a gorgeous woman, Sergeant Mary Silver, who is an exceptional medic, and she is an average lady who is 1.71m tall, has short dark brown hair, hazel eyes and pretty much slender.

Then there is Dante who is not part of the military but was placed in the same place because who is a 'special asset', he is very obnoxious in the sense that he never seems to close his mouth and that he is the worst show off that anyone has ever seen. Well as for him he is a lean muscular type, blue eyes, 1.8m in height and lastly a white blonde.

But he is not here by accident, he is classified as an expert marksman, because he never misses a shot and that he never runs out of bullets from his favourite guns, he named Ebony and Ivory. Finally, we have Lieutenant Donny Winters, a good soldier but isn't good with physique but when it comes to tech, he is unstoppable.

He is a former CIA, FBI, and NSA agent before he was recruited in the army by General Mynde. As for him, he also is a lean muscular type, black hair, 1.78m tall and has dark brown eyes.

As for me, I am just known as Captain, a Captain in the military and known as a 'special asset'. I am not the type anyone can mess around with, and I have so many different ties to different organizations. But I feel as if my past is back to haunt me because I know some old friends are to meet me and have a little payback for what I have done to them.

Sorry for not giving you a clear image of who I am, height: 1.77m tall, I have a blue right eye and a red left eye, light skinned, lean muscular type. I am not one to show off my eyes, so, I will wear an eye-patch on my left eye only, mainly because people are afraid of what they do not understand. As for my skills, I am an expert marksman, I can do tricks and at the same never miss and that's a different story on its own.

Oh, by the way I am no fun nor am I dead serious I am just in between the mix. So, where were we? Right! As I woke up the rest of them and started briefing them on the situation at hand, as expected since two of the team members were human, they were in disbelief saying, "Demons do not exist," Mary said denying the fact while Donny said, "You are being hysterical."

When was the last time I ever heard this, never, so I did what I had to do show them the truth. "So, you want proof?" I asked rhetorically, "Here's your proof!" mad as a bull I was, I showed them the news feed of the events that have been happening and they stood there hopeless, broken as if what they did not want to see was happening before their eyes, but Dante just grunted angrily and said nothing.

Once they came back, I said that "We are the city's last hope, but no one knows about us and our operations," from there on they knew exactly what it means to work undercover and that we may be hunted for questioning by government agencies trying find out answers of the events that has subsided.

After Mary and Donny had pulled themselves together, we suited up for the mission, but we were not putting on regular armour, but specialised armour made to fight demons. This armour was called the Supernatural Buster and it looked kind of like a space suit astronaut's use in space, the difference was this suit was equipped with Nanites, microscopic devices that move up and about like a constantly moving wall that is in singular position, not moving.

So apparently this amour was easy to put on as it was just a pair of gloves, then the Nanites will cover your body in seconds into a suit. As good as it the armour came with a rifle, a pistol and a knife, and these were a part of the armour and could be taken out of the suit at any time not only that, but the shooting weapons also used electric charges and can re-charge by using solar energy.

Everyone but Dante put on the armour, the reached for his guns, Ebony and Ivory, and his sword, then said, "I am ready to rock." We were all set and had to find out where the 'hotspot' (Portal or gateway) was located and got the results, "The centre of Downtime City," the AI stated, and we exited the building to move to the centre.

As we left, we found the city in shambles, no one around but we heard footsteps, big, heavy footsteps, I shouted, "Run!" alerting the team of danger heading our direction from the East.

As we were sprinting a giant monster walked over us, as for Dante he was already ahead but for the rest of us we slid between its legs as it was around nine metres tall and about five metres wide. Luckily for us it had not spotted us at all, unfortunately we were running out of open space as there was a giant hole between us and an opened building.

Well, we jumped off into the hole which had a 50m radius, but we used grappling hooks equipped with the armour and had it snag around a slanting pillar and swung into the building and as for Dante, he showed us he could do the impossible and managed to jump across the hole.

It was pitch black heading deep into the abyss of this particularly cold, from what I know is that there are some demons that can make a building cold, deathly, freezing, cold. We turned on the lights embedded in our helmets, so we could see what is ahead of us.

Before we trekked through the building, we first had to find out where we were in the city, by doing so we had to see our location on our armours map and a holographic display of the map appears on our arms, showing our exact location and we were downtown in the city 1 hour away from the city if we were to drive all the way there but I did not believe that we could find any operable vehicle around, we moved from our position deep into the pitch black building from its west wing.

 Chapter Two

We ventured through and only found a few items of importance that we needed, and there was no one to be seen and many of the objects were either missing or destroyed.

I then sensed something ahead of us and immediately halted the team by raising my arm with my hand closed as silence was in our midst as the building was deserted. We stood there, crouched for a moment and I heard light growling of Frost Walkers, demons with very little power but they are very aggressive.

I signalled Donny and Mary to head one way to search for an exit, while Dante and I headed the opposite direction for the same objective. As we went on searching Dante asked, "Hey Captain, don't you think it's a bad idea to split up?" I stopped in my tracks not because of the question he asked was the wrong one to ask me at that time but because there was something near us, and it was watching us, "Dante, do you feel that?" I asked intensely, "What?" he asked reaching for his pistol.

I felt that the air became denser and very cold, "Don't you think it has gotten colder?" I asked to make sure that I am not the only one feeling the temperature drop, "Yeah, come to think of it, it's freezing in here," he said try to warm himself up with his hands.

I looked around but couldn't see anything with just my open eye, I needed to use my left eye, so as to use spirit vision as it allows me to see things that humans cannot see, think of it as a third eye, I could see supernatural entities with it, but I could not risk being found out by the enemy.

So instead, I fired an electric round at where I presumed a Frost Walker was hiding at 60 degrees to my right and 10 degrees up and had it bounce off three wall surfaces and hit my target.

For the first time in my life I had shown a man who is infamously known for being a show off and also a man I knew a lot about, that he has competition and had challenged each other to see who the best skilled man is, "Okay, I see how it is," Dante said irritably, "Are you jealous much?" I asked as if an old part of me was awaking from long a slumber and with a smirk on my face.

While Dante and I were glaring at each other, Donny reported over the radio saying, "We found an exit but it's heavily guarded," the fact irritated me that we had to go up the building to find an exit, but we had no other choice. So, I told Donny and Mary to meet us at an open stairwell a few steps to our right.

As they arrived, Donny stated, "Leaving through the doors without a fight is impossible, because they are watching them like hawks," and this was not far from truthful, but I had no choice but to give an alternative that was much riskier than going the easy way, "Looks we have to go up to our exit then," I said, "What do you mean?" Mary asked curiously.

As I thought, the roof was not a very good exit but what else was there for us to use, only that I knew how things were going to play out from the very start, "Our exit is the roof and we got twenty minutes before things go south," I said with caution, "Hold on! You mean to say that we have to go to roof and what jump on over to another building?" Dante asked irrationally, "Precisely.

That is the plan anyway," I whispered to them, having that feeling that something or someone was watching us again.

Before they asked any more questions obnoxiously, I slightly nudged my head to the direction of the stairwell entrance, they looked at it and immediately moved toward it as if they knew what I meant.

I could not help but have a smirk on my face as I was slightly pleased with myself for the fun of it, because that is how I am.

So, we had went up ten floors and stopped on the way because the rest of the stairwell was blocked off and were forced out of it to find another that all the way to the top, at floor number 10, then bad luck struck as we had some 'friends' patrolling the area, "This is not good," Donny whispered, "We have to get to the other side of this floor, so we have to move quietly and do not get spotted, understood?" I whispered commandingly.

So, we waited for the right moment to move stealthily from one area to another to get to the other stairwell. We moved as swiftly as we possibly could whenever the patrol turned around, it did take a while to actually make it to the other side of the floor, then I took one of my supplements because I was very hungry, moreover I had my dispenser with me everywhere I go, and the supplements are just highly compressed food in tablet form to which keep me from being hungry for at least two days.

Once I had taken them, we went into the stairwell, luckily it continued on all the way to the roof, "Alright, let's keep going up," I said. After ten more floors, we made it to the top, but the door was automatically locked with quadruple encryption, and I peered over towards Donny and asked, "Can you unlock the door?"

Donny the looked at me and said enthusiastically, "Can I, of course I can but it will take me a couple of minutes," then proceeded to remove a cord out of his armour and plugged it right into the lock interface and a holographic keyboard appearing from his and started decrypting the lock.

Well would you know, he struggled a little bit while decrypting the lock as the encryption was on another level and other than that, Donny was very unfamiliar with this type of encryption, either way he cracked it and got the door unlocked. We went through and walked across helicopter landing platform to get the edge of roof on the building, aimed at the next building with our grappling guns and shot the grappling hook to the other building.

Since Dante did not have any of the equipment nor could he jump all the way to the roof, he held on to Mary to get to the other building, and yes, I did smile at how hilarious the situation was. After we made it to the other building, Dante moved away from Mary as quick as he could because he was embarrassed at the fact that a woman did a man's job, what a shame, isn't it (Don't answer the question)?

As I was planning where else for us to go in order to get closer to the centre of the city, the building started to shake, honestly, Mary thought it was an earthquake but there has never been one in Downtime City, ever! Donny the asked, "What was that?" right after the building shook, it then happened again but this time it was different because we felt a slight changed in our centre of gravity, and if you are wandering what the building was tipping over slightly, so we ran over to the edge on the other side of the roof.

We hadn't had the time to prepare our grappling guns, nor did we have the time to think of any to do and jumped.

Falling off a building is not exactly what a person would want to happen to them but hey, what other option did my team have, screaming like little girls except for Mary, she gets a pass.

Suddenly we got hit by a wave from an explosion, throwing us back to the building that was still falling over to one side.

Look, we were no longer falling, we were sliding on the side of the building, and then we felt a huge vibration that had jumping on the building and was not helpful in our situation, but we landed back on to it.

I had to think of a plan and quick because we were about to slide over to our deaths, wait, this feels familiar, doesn't it? Anyway, I came up with an idea and it was a one in a million chance of actually working, so I went and shouted out to my team that, "We have to do the back shot whip!" If you are wondering what the hell am I talking, well it is more of when someone is about to fall to their deaths, they see a ledge with some stones and they use their grappling hooks or whatever the hell and have it lodge itself on you know what and save their lives, it pretty much happens in movies or some video games, beats me where it actually happens but you get the point, alright you all caught up now?

Let's get back to the story, okay? As we were about to slide off another fricking edge, Donny was exceptionally dubious of the plan, "Is it even going to work at all?" he said as he feared for his life, "It will if you stop being a bitch about it!" Dante exclaimed, and with no moment to waste, we slid over the edge, and then turned over to face the building one more time, grappling hooks went flying and got themselves snagged by something.

Admittedly, this was far from ever happening and we would have been red puddles of red goo, but we did not luckily, but Dante on the other hand well (remember he has no armor), I had to grab him in order to keep him alive, really, we had climbed down as we were twenty meters away from the ground, but our lines could only go ten meters down towards the ground, so we jumped off from there.

Flabbergasted that we survived the fall, we were still on a mission and it was six in the afternoon and had to move on because the city does not have time to wait. It was very odd that these demons were in sight, maybe we weren't much of a threat or something, probably even planning an attack on my team and me, but who knows, either way they weren't around.

Then there was a very wide road ahead of us and it clearly lead to the center of the city, so we walked, weapons out, scouting out the area for potential dangers as we moved on ahead, but there was nothing around, too good to be true I know but that was all to it.

The ground trembled beneath us, "Earthquake?" Donny asked but there was no clear indication of an earthquake, "That wasn't an earthquake," I said cautiously, then the road started breaking from behind us.

We then ran but it was too late for us, as the road broke within 10 meters from where we are and fell 30 meters deep underground into an hidden underground river, however we still not safe for the reason of falling debris from the road above and had to dive deep into the freezing cold river water, but luckily our armor had built in oxygen tanks for use when we are not in open air.

The falling debris stopped as there were no longer any more that could fall and we had swum to the nearest river bank to get on land again. We had setup a small camp for the night to rest. Fortunately there a tunnel that led from the bank to the city above.

"When was there ever a river beneath the city," asked Donny out of surprise.

"It's been here for a while," I said.

"I've never had of it though," he said.

"They must have forgotten about it, or someone wanted to keep it a secret," I finally said standing up.

I went ahead and took a leak away from the others because I was pressed. As I returned back to the three, Mary asked me, "After all of this, are we going to tell the others?" I looked back at her with a little bit of pity and made the choice to tell her, "We can't tell anyway when we are dead, can we?"

Mary and Donny both looked at me confused, "What do you mean?" as they knew nothing about what Mynde had in mind. I looked at them and sighed, "General Mynde arranged funerals for all of us and now we are ghosts," I told as they needed to face reality. "Now that everyone thinks we are dead, we do missions in secret to protect everyone else, even your families," I told them, then Dante looked at and said, "I don't have a family,"

"I know," I spoke without a second thought.

We were exhausted after all events that had transpired and noticeably we spent most of the time trying to swim out of a rapid river. Time, 2100 hours, we needed rest, especially Mary and Donny, for tomorrow. I slept on a rock for the night while the other three were in a tent.

Midnight, I heard footsteps walking past, "Leaving so soon, aren't you Dante?" I asked out, "You're still awake?" Dante questioned silently. Silence pierced the night leaving the sound of the flowing river, admittedly it was breathtaking but I still needed an answer, "Are you going after your sister" I asked.

"How do you… never mind. Before I leave, I asked someone by the name of Tarius," he said.

But I cut him off before he could finish, "Why my brother?" I asked in temper. Tarius and Darius are not the same person mind you. With a smirk he asked, "Didn't know you two were siblings?" I looked back at him seriously, "We are not. Well not by blood," I said.

"Really? Then how are you brothers?" he asked again.

"That is not a question you want an answer to," I said fiercely.

From his face the smirk disappeared into a worrisome look, pussy, I thought as he worried for no particular reason, "Okay, he should arrive any moment now," Dante said impatiently. As if his prayers were answered, Tarius arrived and Dante left soon after.

Looking towards him, he was slightly buffer than I remembered but his eyes were still emerald green, his chin chiseled and the biggest chest I have ever seen, not to sound gay but it is as is. Then I realized his hair was no longer blond, it was now black. "It has been so long since I have seen you brother," he said in gentle deep voice, "Well that make's the both of us but there's no time to catch up," I said. He looked happy to see me after what, 600 years, "Ah yes, Dante has told me all about your mission," he said, but I was in no mood to continue this conversation, "That's good" I said, "We will continue on tomorrow," I concluded and I then laid back and resumed my nap.
