"This crystals, what are they?" Michael asked. He looked around, still appreciating the comforting energy that caressed his skin.
[The are ores capable of absorbing Arcane, filtering it and releasing it in the purest form.]
"Then surely, they would sell for a good price." Michael's mind had shifted towards earning a profit, but he couldn't be blamed. Since his affinity test, he had come to terms that he would be seen as just a liability.
He never anticipated resources from anyone, he built a mind set of earning his survival, so that he was never stranded when things got sticky. He for one got a job at a club as a cleaner, sneaking out to a place that smelt of alcohol and intimate activities.
He had seen far more than he should have at his age. Fights that spilled guts, open sex scenes amongst many. When his father got wind of his little hustle, he was enraged, his father sent him to a no man's land for two months.
He was pushed to the brink of death on multiple occasions. His low level luminary realm strength, was barely able to assist him. Everything he faced solidified his mindset, making him a survivor.
While Michael dabbled in his perelious past, the consciousness in he sea of consciousness noticed something he deemed peculiar, so he decided to ask.
[What is your affinity kid?]
Michael was drawn out of his Little reminiscing by the question.
"I don't have one, that is the reason I am still in luminary realm, and can weave only the most basic spells." Michael answered in honesty, but as he answered, his heart became down cast, and his eyes a little teary.
[Oh, I see, kid I think I've gotten the reason the laws sealed you.]
"Really? What is it?" The down cast looked instantaneously morphed into one of anticipation.
[You posses high affinities for two destruction type elements, not to talk of the fact that you have the potential to become a powerful spirit art practitioner, and lastly you posses a divine body, that absorbs arcane twice as fast compared to normal.] The consciousness spoke, it's tone rising with surprise. This was more than enough reason to seal a person, if not for the fact that he needed Michael to be his ride, he would never assist him.
"W-what?" Rather than happiness, Michael was shocked. Dual elementalist were not unheard of, his mother was one wielding fire and earth magic.
Spirit arts on the other hand was something a bit rarer, it enabled one to communicate and draw power from the ethereal beings that lived in the astral plane.
His father was an elemental spirit summoner, this made it so that it was as if he had dual elemental abilities.
And now he was told that not only did he posses high affinities in two of the most destructive abilities, but he had potentials as a spirit practitioner coupled with a Devine body.
Michael's anger at the laws quenched a little, if he was the one that saw a being like himself being born, he would have sealed him as well, but fate was very twisted. Who knew that an opportunity to rise would come for him.
Michael thought of all this and then burst into a maniacal laughter. "Ha ha ha ha."
[Calm down, we still have to undo your seal]
The voice managed to force Michael to stop. He composed himself, and then asked.
"How do we do it?"
[By undergoing a tribulation]
"Tribulation?" Leo froze for a bit, he knew what tribulation was. When one attempts a major breakthrough in realms, it would incite the chaos lightning tribulation. Many Arcane practitioners have died under it's ferocius bombardment.
[Yes, a tribulation. As you know, breakthroughs incite tribulation because they go against the will of the laws. We are about to try to break a seal set my the laws, don't you think they would try to stop us.]
Michael simply noded, it made sense for this type of thing to occur if he attempted to break up the seal.
[When we leave here, we will find a place suitable for your tribulation.]
"Ok" Leo answered, but then he asked a question that had been bugging him. "You said you have been here since your creation, then how do you know so much?"
[Oh, I expected you to ask this a while ago. I am connected to the rift, so I feel the happenings within the rift, though not to little details, I can relay to you the happenings of the past millenial]
Michael didn't know how it worked, so he accepted what explanation he got.
"Do you have a name?" Michael realized that there was transfer of names between the two.
[No, I have never had need for one]
"Ok then I'll call you Rift. Do you like it?"
[No, it's too cringe.] Rift voiced out his disapproval, but Michael simply smiled.
"You'll come to like it."
[You have no right to name me]
"You complain a lot for a billion year old consiousness Rift. Let's talk about the name later, for now I need to extract all the ores from here." A greedy look crept unto Michael's face, as he took out his storage ring. It was a birthday gift, he received it when he was still considered a member of his family, before his twelfth birthday. The storage ring was quite large, with a space of one square kilometers.
He took out a knife and headed to the walls of the cave, he decided to leave the center crystal for last. While humming a tune, he began digging out ores, and placing them in the ring, every mined ore was extra money in his pocket.
