Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Into Gotham

The rift between dimensions whisked Jon and Spider-Man away, depositing them unceremoniously in the midst of a gloomy Gotham City. Rain fell in cold sheets, casting eerie reflections on the slick, grimy streets. Towering, gothic architecture loomed overhead, and the distant wail of sirens echoed through the city.

Jon struggled to his feet, rain-soaked and disoriented, and glanced at Spider-Man, who was adjusting his webbed mask. "I think, we left the whatever emperor" Jon muttered, his voice laden with uncertainty.

Spider-Man nodded, "Yeah, this place is different."

A sudden movement from the shadows drew their attention. From the depths of a nearby alley, a caped figure emerged, his silhouette unmistakable.

"I am Batman," a deep, gravelly voice intoned. He was an imposing figure, clad in a dark cape and armor, his sharp, white eyes piercing the night. His gloved hand rested on the hilt of a utility belt filled with gadgets.

Jon and Spider-Man exchanged glances. "You're Batman?" Spider-Man asked, feeling a mix of awe and disbelief.

"Who are you, and what are you doing in my city?" Batman demanded.

Jon stepped forward, attempting to explain their predicament. "We come in peace, Batman. We're not from around here. We were just—"

Batman cut him off, his voice unyielding. "I've encountered strange things in Gotham, but your arrival is suspicious. You will explain everything."

As the rain continued to pour, Jon noticed the weariness in Batman's eyes. This city had taken its toll on him, and he could sense the weight of responsibility that the Dark Knight carried. "We can't reveal everything, but we have to find a way back home. This portal brought us here," Jon said earnestly.

Spider-Man, ever the optimist, chimed in, "We're not here to cause trouble. We're here to help if we can. We've faced our fair share of villains."

Batman studied them for a moment, then spoke, "Gotham has seen enough chaos. If you're sincere, you can assist me in investigating a series of crimes. Prove your intentions."

Jon and Spider-Man exchanged glances once more, this time with a hint of determination. "We accept," Jon replied.

As they followed Batman through the labyrinthine streets of Gotham, Jon couldn't help but wonder about the man behind the cowl. He was more than just a vigilante; he was a symbol of hope, a testament to human resilience. The rain-soaked cityscape mirrored Batman's own inner turmoil, and Jon couldn't shake the feeling that they were on the cusp of something monumental.

Hours turned into days as they worked alongside Batman, unraveling the dark mysteries of Gotham. Jon marveled at Batman's unwavering dedication and the intricate web of allies and adversaries he'd forged over the years.

Jon took some time alone to think about his life, if someone told him what happened to him for the past few months before he would have punched him right on the face and reported him to the police. He also did some checkups on his suit, wandering how advance the Marvel technology is, which allow ordinary people like him to achieve wonders, like swinging like Spider-Man, he with Spidey also made an ai for his suit too. Not on the level of Jarvis and Friday but enough to give him directions and whatnot, which give a slight advantage in combat.

One night, perched atop a rain-soaked gargoyle with Batman, Jon finally broached the subject of their otherworldly abilities. "Batman, we have to tell you more about why we're here."

Batman remained stoic but attentive. "Go on."

Jon explained the existence of the multiverse and the artifact that allowed them to traverse it. He described their journey, the friends they'd made, and the crisis that threatened to destabilize the multiverse. Batman's expression remained unchanged, but the flicker of interest in his eyes was unmistakable.

"Your world's survival is connected to the multiverse, Batman. We need to find answers and stop this crisis," Spider-Man added.

Batman finally spoke, "Gotham is my responsibility, but if the multiverse is truly in danger, I can't ignore it. I'll help you."

In that moment, Jon realized that the dark and enigmatic Batman, protector of Gotham, was more than just a symbol of fear. He was a hero with a sense of duty that extended beyond his city's borders. Together, they forged an alliance that would take them on a path neither Jon nor Spider-Man could have anticipated, into a multiverse of mysteries, villains, and heroes beyond imagination.
