"You look so handsome, dearest," Sienna said with a smile after tying Davi's bow tie. For tonight's soiree, she let him wear a deep red shirt. It was from the new clothes Lemiel bought for Davi when they went shopping in town the other day.
"Now, remember. I won't be around you, so you shouldn't look for me. Stay near your father. Don't worry. I will be around, looking out for you." She smiled reassuringly, and her delicate fingers softly ran through the locks of his hair on his forehead.
"I know. A lot of people will come, so you should be careful, mama."
"Of course, I will." She chuckled. "I am an adult and I can take care of myself, so you shouldn't worry about me."
The boy didn't say anything, but she could sense that he didn't agree with what she said. Davi knew that there were bad people who wanted to harm her, so she understood his concern.
