Trying to reason with this vampire who had a twisted mind was of no use, thought Sienna.
She should just do her best to guide her son so that he wouldn't grow up as a person with a twisted character like his father.
"Fret not. I won't do anything to sow discord. I respect your relationship with my son, but you better not restrict the child too much, Miss Barret." His eyes narrowed darkly as if he were giving a warning. "Don't treat him like he's yours alone."
"I am not. I was only worried."
"You have nothing to worry about."
Sienna heaved. "I hope you are right, Duke Lemiel. If there is nothing else, I shall excuse myself."
When she stepped back into the room, Sienna met Davi's curious eyes wandering around her face, trying to catch any hint of distress. She smiled to reassure him that everything was fine.
She pulled the chair next to him. Davi was still eating cake but he stopped when he saw his mother.
