Chapter 16 - A Doll and a Pawn

Sienna's mind had grown fuzzy. With every caress and stroke of Lemiel's fingers, every fiber of her being screamed. She was embarrassed, but the foreign sensation overwhelmed any sense of shame.

Anxiety seeped to the depths of her bones, and the fear of being lost to the taste of pleasure overshadowed her fear of dying in the hands of the vampire.

Sienna softly moaned when Lemiel's finger slipped past her folds. The vampire's eyes darkened with satisfaction at the aroused expression on the princess's face.

He wasn't the one to do the job in bed and coax women, but as Sienna was not an ordinary woman and someone who had intrigued him enough to marry her, and he believed she deserved at least a proper introduction to intimacy.

The pain that soon followed the pleasure shocked Sienna. While she understood the basics of marital duties, she did not expect it to be this painful. She cried as she gripped the sheets. Lemiel moved slowly inside her, making her get used to his fullness first before gradually quickening his pace.

Although Lemiel did not show the affection of a loving husband as their bodies danced to the rhythm of passion, he was considerate enough to care about Sienna's comfort and took her with caution.

When Sienna woke up the next day, the sun had just risen and the sky had warm hues. The first thing she noticed was how her body ached when she moved. She looked at the other side of the bed when her eyes opened, but saw no signs of the vampire she shared the night with.

She rose to a sitting position and noticed she was not naked under the thick blanket but wearing the nightdress she wore last night.

Her silver hair was a tangled mess and the bite mark she had on her neck was evident. It wasn't as obvious as last night, as the body of a witch healed several times faster than a human's but not as fast as a vampire's.

Sienna's pale feet touched the carpeted floor, and she slightly winced at the lingering discomfort she felt between her legs. But it was bearable, and it didn't stop her from moving around. She rang the bell, and her maidservants entered the room.

"Shall we prepare your bath, Your Highness?" one of the maidservants asked. All of them had their eyes on the floor.

"Yes, please. Do you know where Lord Lemiel has gone?"

"The lord left at the crack of dawn due to urgent matters, Your Highness. He has instructed us to not wake you up and assist with your things when you depart later today, and to tell you that he would be waiting for you at the duke's castle. I believe he has discussed the matter with the king and queen."

After her bath, the maids helped her get dressed. The dress she wore today was more extravagant than what she usually wore.

Although her parents treated her poorly, they made sure that in the servants' eyes and everyone else's, she was the well-loved princess pampered by the king and queen, so she had the finest tailored dresses even when she was only inside the castle.

But today, it was a new tailored dress, one with the color of the sky. Sienna knew it was her mother's choice to make sure she would not look any less lovely than the women at Amstel Fortress.

After the maidservants did her hair, Sienna asked them to leave. She needed to be alone for a moment.

Drawing a breath, she recalled what happened the night before, and her cheeks flushed. It was a little painful and mortifying, yet...at the same time, she could say it wasn't all bad. Well, at least not as bad as she thought it would be.

Lemiel looked all rough on the outside, she could even tell his violent nature in his eyes, but she didn't feel any other pain in her body except when he entered her, which she knew was normal for a woman who just got deflowered. And that meant he wasn't too forcing and hard on her.

'Maybe he isn't that bad,' thought Sienna, carrying hope in her heart that the man she married was not as heartless as the rumors said.

Sienna was intelligent but she was an innocent young woman who had yet to explore the world. Fairytales taught her to wish for love, and she hoped that could happen between her and Lemiel. Maybe not now or anytime soon, but someday when the time was right.

What she didn't know was that Lemiel only saw her as a doll for his entertainment and a pawn in the game he was playing with no clear plans of keeping her forever.
