Upon hearing the absurd statement Travis made, Alison looked at him like he was stupid. "What? You're looking for Manager Marshall? Do you know who he is? Do you know who he works for? Do you want to get kicked out like a dog?!"
Travis frowned at her and scoffed. "Why do you care? If I get kicked out, it will be a comedy show for you to watch."
Incensed by his statement, Alison replied. "Do you want to be a running joke?! To disgrace my family name?! That man works for Leon Danforth! The richest man in Mainville and the country as a whole! And you…you're just a lowly security guard! Stop making a full out of yourself!"
Sandra chuckled and chided, "He probably thinks because his last name is Danforth, perhaps he could be their lost family. What a stupid coincidence, though. A nobody like you dares to answer the Danforth name."
'And an ordinary secretary like you dares to insult me.' He said in his thoughts. 'One day, I will show you who the nobody is.'
He sighed and decided to make a call. Fred answered almost immediately and he asked, "So are you there already?"
Travis nodded. "Yeah. But I'm stuck at the entrance."
"Stuck? Okay, I'll send someone to lead you in."
Travis nodded and hung the call.
Just then, a sensuous, curvy lady walked toward them. And seeing her, a curious look grew on Alison's face.
"It's Manager Marshall's personal secretary," Sandra wondered out loud. "Perhaps they've changed their stance and are here to ask us to discuss the deal. So it worked! OMG! I can't believe it worked!" Sandra triumphed at the thought of being given two million dollars for doing a good job in seducing the manager.
The man acted like he wasn't interested. Even pushing them out and making them feel humiliated. But he sent his secretary for them 'cause looking around, they are the only important people.
Well, except for Travis
A glimmer of excitement shone on Alison's face. "We didn't manage to close the deal with Danforth group but it seems Manager Marshall has pulled some strings for us and sent his personal secretary to bring us back. Looks like the deal will get close! We won!"
It made sense to Alison 'cause the secretary was definitely here for them. She couldn't be here for a piece of trash like Travis after all.
At that thought, Alison giddily stepped forward with a smile.
"Hi. Uh, are you here to…"
She froze as the beautiful secretary gave her a look of disgust and rolled her eyes away from her. What shocked her more was the fact that she walked past her and toward Travis.
The beautiful secretary gave Travis a bow before saying, "He's waiting for you, Master Travis. Please come with me."
Alison and Sharon's faces fell. They were confused.
Travis's gaze swept across them before he followed the secretary and as he walked, he heard…
"We are doomed. What if William managed to work it out…"
He slowed down, wanting to hear more.
"Grandma said if any of us can get an investor, she will reward us. And we are failing. And as usual, grandma's favorite grandson will get the win." She said in defeat.
Travis sighed and fastened his pace to meet up with the secretary.
He remembered William. That bastard hated his gut. Well, they both hate each other. That guy, if he has the chance, he could kill Travis. Or they could kill each other. He's psychotic.
Getting to Manager Marshall's office, he was happy to see Travis. He couldn't believe he got Travis to change his mind.
Well, the old master did predict it.
There had to be something that would make him have no choice but to accept his inheritance. Unfortunately, his sick daughter became that anchor to get to him.
Travis still had misgivings about his decision but there was no other way. He knew after signing the contract, his father will find a way to get his full attention.
He wondered if he was ever gonna be ready to face his father. He was greatly disappointed in him.
Marshall gave him the document and showed him where to sign and after going through it, Travis had no choice but to sign it.
Marshall took it and said, "You know after this, you're gonna have to see the old master soon."
Travis nodded and let out a harsh breath. "Yeah. I know. But not now. You have to let him know that he needs to be patient. Accepting my inheritance is enough for now."
Marshall nodded in agreement. "You're right. But the world needs to know Travis Danforth. You have to be acknowledged as his son. The board of directors is anxious to see the heir. To know you personally. Believe it or not, you're the only person the old master trusts. You are his only family. He needs you."
Travis rolled his eyes away, acting indifferent toward the statement made. "As I said, I can be good with my father if he's no longer involved with that whore of a bitch."
"You know how prone to guilt your father is. The death of your mom and your leaving took a toll on him. And Madame Bianca lost her pregnancy. He couldn't just let her go. She's part of the family, even though she's just a concubine." Marshall explained.
Travis didn't want to hear any of it. He considered it bullshit. He is never ever going to feel any pity toward his father. Never!
He deserves every guilt he's feeling.
"Well, anyway, I need your help in finding a bone marrow for my daughter. She needs a transplant and it's been hard to find one. I'm sure you can work that out." Travis made it known.
Marshall nodded. "Don't worry, master. I'll work on it." Then he carried a briefcase and gave it to him. "It contains the five hundred thousand you need. And hopefully, you'll accept this black card." He said, extending a black card toward Travis.
Travis stood up with the briefcase, and stared at the card for a few seconds, wondering if he needed it or what he was gonna use the money for.
This isn't something he wants Joanna to know in the meantime. There's something going on with her lately. He could feel it and he was getting uneasy with it.
But he took the card, deciding it could be of use. For his daughter's needs. "I won't bother to ask how much is inside. I might not use it that much anyway."
Marshall nodded in understanding. "Old master will be happy to know he can be of help with anything you need. Maybe one day, you can introduce your daughter to him. He'll really love it."
Travis frowned and left the office.
Back at the hospital, he was surprised to see Malcolm was back and was standing beside his wife in front of his daughter who had woken up already.
His heart and anger softened as she smiled at him.
Then his angry gaze dropped on Joanna and Malcolm once again and he walked toward them.
