Chapter 250 - Ashar

"Lab assistant?" Locke's eyes widened as he stared at Angelina in front of him.

"Yes. My tutor said that we're short on manpower, so I recommended you," said Angelina sheepishly. She hadn't discussed it with Locke beforehand because it was too sudden.

"What about my job?" Locke pointed at the caged containers behind him. Countless slaves were transported to the floating ship at the back of the Sanctum through the warehouse. They would be sent to the void fortress outside the plane.

"They didn't specify a time limit, so it won't affect your work," said Angelina.

"Alright then. It's not bad to spend more time with you." Locke nodded in agreement.

"Not to be my tutor's lab assistant." Angelina reminded him.

"Then who is it?"

"My tutor's sister, Lady Ashar."

"..."

That afternoon, Locke rubbed his sore shoulders and walked to the centre of the academy. He needed to report to Lady Ashar.

It was almost evening by the time he finished his shopping at the trading area outside the Sanctum. It was already midnight when he returned to the Sanctum through the air corridor.

Before he could get a good night's sleep, the sky was already bright. He had no choice but to rush to the transport area to continue his work. The frequency of the slaves being transported was increasing. Jasmine had reported to her superiors many times, but there were still only three people in their section.

Although the pay remained the same, the workload had increased.

Angelina told him to go to the 82nd floor of the Sanctum to look for Lady Ashar before returning to the academy to continue her classes.

Locke hadn't seen her for only ten days, but he could already feel that her mana waves were much more obscure than before. It seemed that she had improved a lot.

After showing his recommendation certificate to the casters stationed on the first floor of the Sanctum, Locke was finally allowed to enter the Sanctum.

The tower was thousands of meters tall and connected to the clouds. Locke had long wanted to see what it looked like, but unfortunately, he hadn't had the chance.

There was a special ascending passage inside the Sanctum. All he had to do was walk into the passage and press the floor he wanted to go to. The Sanctum would automatically send him to the corresponding floor.

His current authority was limited to the 100th floor and below, which was where level-one casters lived.

Locke pressed the number 82 and waited silently.

About two seconds later, the door of the ascending passage opened. "Are we already here?" Locke wondered. The speed was unimaginable.

After walking out of the passageway, he saw a spacious corridor that was about four meters wide. On both sides of the corridor, there was a door with a number on it.

He walked to the room Angelina told him about and knocked on the wooden door. The sound echoed in the corridor.

After a long time, just when he thought that the owner of the room was gone, he heard the sound of the door opening. The door opened quietly, revealing a dark and deep space inside.

He swallowed his saliva and boldly walked in. Obviously, there was someone inside.

There was no light source in the room, and even the curtains on the windows were pulled down. The only remaining moonlight shone through the gaps between the windows.

"Bang!" The door behind him suddenly slammed shut.

"I didn't expect you to be a Knight." A cold female voice came from the darkness. Locke turned his head and looked in the direction of the room. His intuition told him that the person was there.

"Your awareness is not bad." After a snap of his fingers, the room lit up and the dim candlelight flickered.

A black-haired, black-robed female caster with lavender eyes was lying on the sofa in front of Locke.

"That little sister of mine has found me a good experimental subject this time," the female magician muttered to herself.

Experimental subject? Locke felt that this was different from what Angelina said. Wasn't she an experimental assistant?

Locke wanted to say something, but the black-haired caster raised her head and stared at him with her purple eyes. He had a feeling that if he said anything else, something bad might happen.

Locke observed the black-haired caster as well as the black-haired caster.

She was a mature woman. In terms of appearance, even Glace, who was mature and intellectual, couldn't compare to her.

Her purple eyes seemed to have the power to attract one's mind. After looking at her for a while, Locke felt like he was being sucked in. He shook his head and forced himself to look away.

He shifted his gaze downwards and saw a trace of fair skin. The black-haired caster was dressed very casually. She was only wearing a loose black robe, so he was sure that she wasn't wearing anything underneath.

Knowing that the person sitting in front of him was a Magister, Locke didn't dare to be presumptuous and quickly looked away again.

This time, his gaze moved down again. Two fair feet appeared in the dark room. The female caster wasn't wearing shoes and her feet were placed together on the sofa.

As her feet moved up and down, Locke's eyes moved up and down as well.

Fortunately, his head was lowered and the female caster didn't notice his little movements.

After some time, perhaps the caster was tired from sitting in a half-lying position, so she straightened her waist and changed her posture. Her fair and tender little feet disappeared under the black robe, and Locke's sigh could be heard in the air.

"Three high-grade energy crystals for six hours a day. How about that?" asked the female caster suddenly.

Everything in the Sanctum had a price.

Knowledge had a price, materials had a price, and so did labor.

Since the Sanctum's rules could cover all areas in the three western isles, it could also cover the Sanctum itself.

Even if the female caster was a Magister, she couldn't infringe on Locke's rights. At least, she couldn't do so on the surface.

When he heard the price, Locke almost nodded and agreed, but he bit his tongue. If he didn't hear it wrong, she was going to be used as an experimental subject.

Locke didn't dare to imagine how long a Magister's experimental subject could live, or what it would become after it survived.

He used to see Angelina transplanting limbs on small and medium-sized monsters. Toads with six legs really existed in this world.

"I'm willing to be your experimental assistant. As for the experimental materials …" Locke rolled his eyes and said, "Maybe I can help you get them."

"Oh? Tell me about it! "The female caster's purple eyes lit up. She was a little interested.

"I'm working part-time in section 43 of the Sanctum transfer zone. Maybe I can help you keep an eye out for some good experimental materials," said Locke.

"Transfer zone, huh? Not bad." The female caster tapped her chin with her jade-like finger. It didn't take long for her to agree to Locke's suggestion.

"What a clever lad!" The female caster's purple eyes seemed to speak. Although she didn't smile, Locke could tell that she was complimenting him.

"You can call me Lady Ashar." The female caster told Locke her name, which meant that she had temporarily approved him as an experimental assistant.
