Chapter 245 - Kayla

It was already nine o 'clock in the evening when he returned to his place.

He didn't stay with Angelina. Instead, he stayed in a small building next to the transport zone. His room was number seven on the second floor.

Molly's room was right above his, number seven on the third floor.

Casters who lived in this building had missions in the transport zone. The Sanctum was very generous in terms of remuneration, so casters could get a decent amount of energy crystals every month.

Locke squeezed the green gem-like energy crystal in his palm, wondering if being detained in the Sanctum was a blessing or a curse.

Energy crystals were a common currency in all planes, and they were even more valuable than major monster crystal cores.

The green energy crystal was the reward Molly had given him today. Its value wasn't much lower than a mid-rank major monster crystal core. More importantly, it contained wind energy, so Locke could use it directly.

Wind major monsters were rare, and even if they did exist, they were mostly bird-type monsters that could fly. Regular major monster crystal cores were hard to come by in the market, let alone wind type ones.

That was why Locke's cultivation had always relied on his own hard work. But now that he had enough wind energy crystals, it wasn't realistic for him to break through immediately, but it was still possible for his strength to go up a level or two.

Especially the amount of impetus he had.

As a high-rank Lehrling, Molly was very sensitive to elemental energy. She easily noticed that Locke practiced wind impetus, which was why he was paid in wind energy crystals.

"They're so damn rich!" He laid down on his bed. This was the Princeton Hall of Knights' branch, and the knights were paid in gold moores. This was the first time he'd seen energy crystals used as a form of currency.

After a night's rest, Locke headed to the transport zone again the next morning.

Together with him was the caster named Harris. He was 1.8 metres tall and a little shorter than Locke, but he was a rare tall caster.

"Where's Molly?" Locke asked. Both he and Molly were high-rank, so they didn't use honorifics.

"Senior Molly should still be meditating," Harris said uncertainly. Harris said with uncertainty. He had seen Locke's ferocious appearance yesterday. He would never have been able to defeat a high-rank half-orc with a single punch.

A spell cast by a mid-rank Lehrling was comparable to a high-rank Knecht in terms of damage, but Harris was still very respectful towards him.

"Then let's get back to work." Locke called out. He didn't have mental power, so he couldn't control the machine above the warehouse, but he had the strength to do so. He lifted a cage that was imprisoning a mid-rank major monster, a blazing flame monkey, and walked quite a distance before placing it in another area.

The killer monkey inside had yet to figure out what was going on. It opened its mouth wide and kept making noises, but the Silence spell blocked its communication with the outside world. Locke could only see its mouth opening and closing, but he couldn't tell what it was making.

Harris, who was sweating profusely, didn't dare to stay idle. He took out his crystal ball and checked the information of the major monsters in their area. More than forty slaves had entered the warehouse in the wee hours of the morning and he needed to check on them.

"Angelina, this is the mentor I've arranged for you. Call him Grandmaster Kayla." Parlina brought Angelina to the Sanctum's 78th floor.

"Hello, Grandmaster Kayla," greeted Angelina obediently. Angelina greeted obediently. Sitting in front of her and next to her grandmeisterin was a beautiful woman with silvery hair.

"You're really good at arranging jobs for me," said Kayla helplessly.

"You're the only one who can be her mentor," said the old lady with a smile. The two seemed to be on good terms.

Angelina majored in fire magic and also studied alchemy. Kayla, on the other hand, was a rare light elemental caster who was also good at alchemy.

Light and fire magic were very similar in some aspects. Due to the planar war, many casters weren't in the Sanctum. It was the right decision for the old lady to look for Kayla.

"I'll take her in first. Whether she can become my disciple or not is up to her," said the female caster. She owed Parlina a big favour, so she had no reason to turn down the old lady's request.

"Alright, thank you very much." The old lady smiled. She majored in water magic and couldn't teach Angelina at all, so she turned to her old friend.

"This is Keira. She's Faked Faceless' junior sister. Angelina, you have to learn from her!" urged the old lady as she turned to Angelina.

"Yes." Angelina nodded. She had just arrived at the Sanctum and didn't know who Joss was. But judging from her grandmaster's tone, he seemed to be a big shot.

Parlina didn't stay long. She needed to give Angelina and Kayla some time to get to know each other.

After the grandmaster left, the room fell into a momentary silence. Dressed in a white robe, Kayla stared curiously at the fidgety Angelina through her silver pupils.

Speaking of which, she hadn't accepted any apprentices yet. Although she'd been a level-one caster for quite some time, she was still immersed in the sea of magic. If it weren't for Parlina's personal request, she wouldn't have even thought of accepting apprentices in the next hundred years.

The eyes were the windows to the soul. With a pure heart and a light elemental caster, Kayla could easily see through a person's soul.

Through her observation, she was quite satisfied with her new apprentice. Angelina's unpretentious attitude and dignified temperament were all in line with Kayla's standards.

"You'll be staying on this floor from now on. There are many rooms here, just pick one." Kayla smiled. Those who knew her well knew that she was a very popular Magician and had never argued with others.

"Alright. Thank you, Mentor!" Angelina replied respectfully with her hands on her knees.

Not all Lehrlings in the Sanctum had a mentor. Formal Casters were very strict when it came to choosing their apprentices. Angelina was lucky to have a reliable and responsible grandmaster.

"You'll have to attend the academy's public classes for a while. I'll teach you some of them. Once your foundation is solid, I'll teach you fire magic," said Kayla thoughtfully. She could tell that Angelina had just made a breakthrough.

The Sanctum's biggest advantage over the Aomar caster academies was that the teachers here were all powerful casters who were at least Formal Caster.

The knowledge that a level-one, level-two, and even level-three caster possessed wasn't something that could be understood by beginners who were still in the Lehrling stage.
