Chapter 19 - Schober

Around the time the Serbians seized control in Dobra Pole, there was a very sharp Austrian who was investigating a certain matter that invoked the interest of the whole world. Alcorp and Telekenisis. But what the intelligent Austrian found out and the others couldn't wrap their minds around was that there was indeed a connection between the two. He formed a team and decided to conduct a investigation into the matter. Otto and Macmillan, his trusted leuitenenants were ebtruested with this serious matter. Set out to the Americas, said Schober. Get me the detailed list of people who had procured the Serum, he said in a scruffy Austrian accent as he sipped his coffee, that wee hour of the morning. And! he said with full authority. No one needs to know who you are, he instructed. Yes Johann, they said and vanished into thin air.

Schober looked outside his window. He lit his cigar as he often did these days. Even against the will of his wife, he puffed rings of smoke out. He never disobeyed her, but this he could not resist. The nerves were frantic by the time his alarm went off in the morning. He sipped his coffe in the house and kissed his wife goodbye. "Be home early," she would say to him. "Yes," he would reply and walk out the bedroom door. As he left the rings out of the window, the bombings had already started. He had remembered a quote told by his grandfather and it rang true, more than ever, now!

"The hate we see in others is the angst we harbour on our hearts," he said to him when he was young.

No man can have enough hate outside of him and commit these crimes, he whispered and left out another ring of smoke. Adolf, lit a cigarette. We smoke these cheap stuffs and the ones who make us fight each other smoke cigars and drink Chardonnay and kiss their wives goodnight. Oh, a philosopher! said Peter poking fun of his compatriot. I'am just a soldier, he said and stubbed the cigarette into the heart of Peter. He choked him to his death and buried him there. Too wise with your words, he uttered as he stamped the ground where his friend lay down. A lady shrieked from the nearby house. He had seen see from a distance, as she shut the windows of her barn house in the middle of nowhere. Adolf had something in his pocket and put something in his mouth. He grew larger and his eyes became red like a predators. He ran as fast as he could and jumped inside the house. He threw the lady bursting open the walls of her thinly veiled house. She was dead in an instant. He saw her child whimper in the corner, hid behind the fallling staircase. He laughed and put his hands on his mouth. Shh! he uttered. You didn't see nothing! he spoke in German and left the house.

As he left the house, Teleknesis saw all this happen his beside the walls of the now torn apart home. He wanted to kill him but ultimately decided against it as he saw a few other army men cross the road. He further hid himself, I have never seen anyone so cruel, he thought. I will get him another time, he made his mind up and left. But, Telekenisis was never seen after that day. For decades he was not seen on Earth. Maybe Adolf terrified even a monster.
