Chapter 284 - Ice Dimension

The dragon assaulted Amukelo, it was a display of raw speed and power, its movements almost a blur. Amukelo, relying on his heightened reflexes and instincts, narrowly evaded the dragon's initial strike, feeling the rush of air as its massive form swept past him. But the dragon was relentless, immediately following up with a spell that began to manipulate the very moisture in the air.

Amukelo sensed the change in the mana around him, an oppressive, swirling energy that sought to imprison him in a cage of water. Reacting swiftly, he channeled his own mana in a burst of speed, breaking free from the forming spell. The dragon, however, was undeterred, preparing to cast another potent spell in its unyielding pursuit.

It was then that Eliss intervened. With a shout and a swift incantation, she summoned a massive hand made of earth. The hand rose from the ground with a rumble, its fingers as large as tree trunks. With a swift motion, it struck the dragon, halting its advance. The impact was powerful, though not enough to send the dragon flying. It did, however, provide a momentary respite from its relentless attacks.

Eliss, seizing the opportunity, shouted to the dragon, "We are not seeking any artifact! We merely wish to pass through these mountains!" Her voice was firm, laced with sincerity.

The dragon, its eyes blazing with anger and suspicion, roared back, "Liars! Humans are a cowardly race, always resorting to cheap tricks for advantage!" The disdain in its voice was palpable, reflecting a deep-seated distrust of humans.

In the next instant, the dragon performed a spell of immense power. The air around them began to crystallize, the temperature plummeting rapidly. A whirlwind of ice and snow engulfed Amukelo, Eliss, and the dragon, transporting them into an alternate dimension – a realm of ice.

The dimension the dragon created was a world unto itself, a frozen landscape that stretched as far as the eye could see. Towering ice spires jutted from the ground, their surfaces reflecting the dim light that permeated this realm. The sky above was a tapestry of swirling snowflakes and icy clouds, casting a perpetual twilight over the land.

The ground was a mosaic of ice, smooth in some places and jagged in others, with deep crevices that hinted at hidden dangers below. The air was so cold it seemed to freeze the breath in their lungs, and the silence of this ice realm was absolute, broken only by the sounds of their movements and the dragon's deep, resonant breathing.

Amukelo and Eliss found themselves in an environment that was both mesmerizing and terrifying. The beauty of the ice dimension was undeniable, yet its harshness was a clear reminder of the dragon's power and the peril they faced.

As they stood amidst the frozen landscape, surrounded by the creations of the dragon's magic, they realized the extent of the challenge before them. This was no longer just a physical battle; they were now fighting in a realm shaped by the dragon's will, a domain where it held dominion over every element.

The dragon, its form more imposing in this icy world, regarded them with a mix of curiosity and hostility. It was clear that the encounter was far from over.

In the surreal and perilous ice dimension created by the dragon, Amukelo quickly realized the formidable nature of the world surrounding them. It pulsated with a dense mana creating a barrier designed not just to contain but also to challenge. He understood that breaking through would require time and intense concentration to channel his mana effectively.

The dragon, reveling in its control over this domain, sneered, "Now you won't escape." In a dramatic display of power, it summoned hundreds of ice spikes from the walls. They emerged with lethal intent, covering all sides like a deadly forest of frozen spears.

Reacting quickly to the imminent threat, Amukelo called out to Eliss, "Eliss! Cover yourself with a strong defensive spell, I will increase its strength using my mana manipulation".

"But what about you? I can't just let you be expos..." Amukelo cut in the middle of her sentence and said, "Just do it!! We don't have time, I'll be fine." She didn't want to but she decided to listen to Amukelo and comply, raising a solid barrier of earth around herself. Amukelo, using his finely tuned mana manipulation, reinforced her earthen shield, ensuring it could withstand the barrage of ice.

For Amukelo, there was no time to seek cover. Instead, he relied on his exceptional swordsmanship, his blades moving in a graceful yet deadly dance. He deflected the incoming ice spikes with precision and fluidity, each movement a blend of art and combat. His swords whirled and slashed through the air, shattering the spikes into a shower of ice shards.

However, in the midst of his defensive dance, Amukelo's heightened senses caught the imminent danger of a new attack. The dragon, seizing the moment of distraction, lunged at him with ferocious speed. Amukelo's evasion was just barely timely, but he couldn't avoid the attack entirely. The dragon's claw grazed his leg, leaving a deep wound.

Eliss, witnessing Amukelo's injury, quickly cast a healing spell. Her focus shifted from maintaining her defense to aiding Amukelo, the spell wasn't able to fully heal him, but it mitigated the worst of the injury, allowing him to continue fighting.

All the while, Amukelo kept channeling his mana into the barier of the ice dimension, seeking a weakness, a crack in the dragon's magical construct. He could feel the resistance of the walls slowly diminishing, a sign that his efforts were making progress, but he needed more time.

The battle inside the ice dimension was intense and unrelenting. The dragon, a master of this realm, continued its onslaught, conjuring various elemental attacks. Icy winds howled through the dimension, whipping up blizzards that reduced visibility and added to the chaos of the fight.

Amukelo and Eliss moved with a combination of desperation and determination, their every action a struggle for survival. Eliss's spells provided them with crucial defenses, while Amukelo's swordplay and mana manipulation kept them one step ahead of the dragon's relentless aggression.
