Chapter 227 - Clash Between Two Armies

As the sun began its descent, casting long shadows on the battlefield, the united front of elves, dwarves, orcs, and the remaining uncontrolled humans readied themselves. Their lines stretched for miles, a sea of shining armor, weapons raised, and magics pulsing in the air. Battle horns sounded, echoing through the vast open plains, announcing the beginning of the battle.

Valarian's army approached like a dark storm. The undead shambled forth, their hollow eyes set on destruction. Controlled humans marched in eerie unison, their faces void of emotions, wielding weapons of menace. And then there were the colossal beasts; creatures of nightmares, some bearing multiple heads, others with scales so tough they shimmered like metal in the dying light.

Amukelo, Eliss, and Kael were at the forefront, standing alongside Aldric and the other leaders. Aldric, clad in his polished armor, raised his sword high, signaling the charge. With a resounding roar, the united front surged forward.

Mages from all races chanted in unison, weaving spells that lit up the skies. Arrows, imbued with magic, rained down on Valarian's forces, while dwarven catapults hurled enchanted boulders that exploded upon impact, scattering undead in every direction. Orcish berserkers clashed head-on with the advancing beasts, their raw power and fury proving to be a formidable force.

Amukelo, with his dual blades supported by mana manipulation, danced through the battlefield, his movements a blur. Each strike was precise, each parry perfectly timed. Beside him, Eliss unleashed her full magical prowess. Flames, brighter and hotter than any had seen before, sprouted from her fingertips, incinerating any undead that dared come close. Kael, with his sword, was a force of nature. With every swing, enemies fell, his strength leaving devastation in his wake.

But Valarian's forces were vast and relentless. For every undead that was felled, ten more seemed to take its place. The controlled human soldiers, skilled and disciplined, were not easy opponents, their tactics well-coordinated, despite their lack of free will.

Hours passed, and the battle raged on. The ground became slick with the residue of combat, the air thick with the scent of magic, metal, and blood. Both sides sustained losses, the cries of the wounded and the fallen echoing through the night.

Amidst the chaos, Amukelo, Eliss, and Kael managed to stick together, forming a trifecta of defense and offense. Their synergy was evident, each one's strengths complementing the others. But even they felt the weight of the battle, their energy waning with every passing moment.

The first glimmers of dawn began to creep into the sky, casting the battlefield in a pale, eerie light. Both armies, tired and battered, continued their relentless assault, neither side willing to yield.

In the midst of the fierce battle, Aldric, his face smeared with grime and sweat, raised his hand, signaling a group of mages who stood in a protective circle a short distance away. Their task was crucial: to establish a telepathic link with the special branch led by Amukelo.

A bright, shimmering orb appeared above the mages, pulses of light radiating outwards, reaching out like tendrils. Amidst the cacophony of battle, a silent, telepathic communication took place.

Amukelo, the time has come. Proceed with the plan, Aldric's voice echoed in their minds.

Amukelo nodded, his face resolute. He, Eliss, Kael, and a select group of elite warriors quickly regrouped, their mission clear. They needed to isolate and retrieve the controlled human soldiers without causing them harm.

Using a combination of stealth, magic, and sheer strength, they began singling out small groups of controlled soldiers, drawing them away from the main battle. Eliss, with her grace and agility, darted around, creating magical barriers to trap them temporarily. Kael, with his immense strength, acted as a shield, preventing any harm from coming to the entrapped soldiers.

Once isolated, the real challenge began. Amukelo stepped forward, concentrating deeply as he tried to extract the dark mana enveloping the soldiers.

As he did, Eliss and Kael tried to replicate his actions, having practiced this technique in the days leading up to the battle. Though their abilities weren't as refined as Amukelo's, they managed to successfully free a significant number of soldiers. Each time the dark energy was removed, the soldiers would stagger for a moment, disoriented, before realization dawned on their faces.

With every soldier they freed, the trio's hope grew. But it was a daunting task, and the night was long. As the hours passed, they persisted, knowing that every life saved was a step closer to turning the tide of this colossal battle.
