Chapter 228 - Titans Attack

The battle had raged for hours, and just when it seemed the allied forces were gaining the upper hand, the ground rumbled and the very air became heavy with a sense of foreboding. From the rear of Valarian's army emerged monstrous giants, their visage enough to send shivers down the spine of the bravest of warriors. Their steps caused miniature tremors, their eyes glowed with malevolent intent, and their roars echoed like thunder.

They smashed through the ranks of the united front with ease, their colossal limbs sending soldiers flying. The battlefield, already chaotic, became a frenzy of desperation as the giants tore a path of destruction through the allied forces. It was clear that conventional tactics would not suffice against these behemoths.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the greatest heroes from the Orcs, Elves, and Dwarfs rallied. Grothar, the Orcish champion with muscles rippling and axe in hand, bellowed a battle cry that reverberated throughout the field, rallying his comrades. Beside him stood Lithariel, the Elven archmage, her staff glowing with an ethereal light. And there was Durgan, the Dwarven berserker, his twin hammers a blur as he readied himself for the confrontation. Aldric, the disciplined and valiant human general, quickly joined them, drawing his famed blade.

The giants, sensing these formidable foes, let out roars of challenge. The battle between them was epic, a clash of raw power against skill and valor.

Grothar, with his unparalleled strength, managed to climb one of the giants, hacking away at its thick hide. Durgan, despite his shorter stature, was a whirlwind of fury, his hammers finding weak points in the giants' armor. Lithariel summoned bolts of ice, piercing through the eyes of giants, blinding them.

But it was Aldric's tactics that truly turned the tide. Using his deep understanding of combat, he directed the heroes, coordinating their attacks. When Grothar was thrown off, Aldric was there to pull him to safety. When Durgan was cornered, Aldric and Lithariel combined their strengths to provide an opening for the dwarf.

The battle was grueling, every inch gained met with fierce resistance. The ground was scarred, the sky lit up with magic, and the very air seemed to vibrate with the force of their confrontation.

Hours seemed to stretch into days, but with unity and persistence, the heroes began to wear the giants down. One by one, the colossal beasts fell, until the last one let out a deafening roar and collapsed, causing the earth to quake one final time.

Exhausted, bruised, but triumphant, the heroes stood amidst the aftermath, their combined strength having overcome an almost insurmountable challenge. The united army cheered, their morale boosted by this incredible feat. The war was far from over, but this victory was a beacon of hope in the dark times that lay ahead.

Amidst the fierce confrontation between the heroes and the giants, away from the central chaos, Amukelo's group had been diligently at work. Using the unique skill that Amukelo had pioneered, they systematically targeted and freed the controlled humans. Under the shroud of night, they moved swiftly, drawing out smaller batches of soldiers and stripping them of the dark mana that held them in its thrall. Their success was evident in the thousands that they managed to liberate, each soldier shaking off the eerie haze and looking around in confusion before being ushered to safety.

However, their momentum wouldn't go unnoticed for long.

Perched atop a hill overlooking the vast expanse of the battle, stood Valarian, the malevolent wizard whose dark desires had cast a shadow over the land. His piercing gaze was fixated primarily on the main battlefield, ensuring that his undead minions acted as an extension of his will. But slowly, a disturbance registered in the back of his mind. The human forces he controlled had started to wane.

His eyes darted to the east, zoning in on Amukelo's group. The enormity of their achievements, the audacity of their mission, became clear to him.

"They think they can free the human army?" Valarian mused aloud, a smirk pulling at the corner of his lips. "Naive fools. Even if they succeed, it won't change the end result. The world will still bow before my might."

Without wasting another moment, Valarian made his move. Raising his staff, a commanding pulse of dark energy resonated from it, weaving its magic across the field. The human forces, those that were left under his control, started to shift their positions, merging seamlessly into the center of the undead mass. The once clear boundaries that separated the controlled humans from the undead were now blurred, rendering Amukelo's task nearly impossible. They could no longer isolate and free the ensnared soldiers without risking a direct confrontation with the undead horde.
