Chapter 7 - Trouble In Paradise

Things were going perfectly fine in Amstrid.

Liam wasn't required to do much that day. He had judged several cases. It was as if the cases never stopped.

Zerys had challenged him to a sword fight, and since his presence was not needed for the mean time, he gladly accepted his request.

"I heard you lost so many times to Xavier. Since I'm a far better swordsman than Xavier, you know what that means right?" Zerys had a wild grin on his face as he swinged his sword round, examining Liam's movements.

As usual, Sati sat on the gazebo in the far end of the training yard watching her brothers spar.

"Stop being boastful and fight already." Liam felt less concerned about Zerys threat.

"You don't expect me to make the first move, do you? Please, you're older. So, after you." Zerys said playfully still swinging his sword in a rotary motion.

Liam grinned devilishly. "As you wish brother." And with that he attacked Zerys with no mercy.

Zerys quickly defended with his sword held firmly above his head. The attack from Liam was so sudden, pushing Zerys back with a great force that he tripped and fell.

"And there's your problem Zerys. You are way too overconfident. You spend too much time in your head planning on different ways to win the fight.

You are always ready to win in your imagination, but never ready for the real fight that's in front of you.

Always keep your eyes peeled and ready for anything and everything." Liam stretched his hands towards Zerys which Zerys took.

He dusted off the dirt on his pants. "You might be great with the sword, but tactics is also important in sword fight. Again." Liam said to Zerys in a commanding tone.

He is never polite with his siblings when it came to training.

The sound of metals clanking against each other filled the large train yard for some minutes before Zerys fell to the ground once more.

"Better than the last time, but still not good enough. Again." This time around, Zerys stood up on his own with much determination than before.

They continued with their sword fight, when the crowned prince's personal guard, Bayne came into the train yard with his head bowed.

"Your presence is required in the court room, Your Highness." He said loudly to the hearing of both princes. They halted in their recent activity, both panting for air.

Sati ran to the place her brothers stood when she saw they had stopped fighting and sheathed their swords.

"I'll be there in 20 minutes time. I need to freshen up first." Liam said as he took Sati's hand.

"Will you teach me how to be a great fighter like you?" Sati asked completely ignoring what Bayne was saying.

"Sure thing baby girl, but not today. Maybe some other day." He said to Sati before turning to address Bayne.

"Tell the prime ministers to put the case on hold till I come."

"I'm afraid the matter requires your urgent response as it concerns the prince Kyle." Bayne bowed his head once more.

He finally got Liam's undivided attention when he mentioned Kyle. Liam turned to him with a serious expression on his face.

"What about Kyle?"

"The prince Kyle has been accused of killing the Duke Westerfield and sexually harassing his daughter, Lela."

Liam left the train yard immediately with Zerys, Bayne and Sati trailing behind. Sati was aware a little of what was happening, so she dare not be a burden to Liam cause she would hate to get on his nerve, especially when he's angry.

Liam stormed into the courtroom not minding the reactions of the people already present.

"What the fuck is going on here?" He screamed at the top of his voice, showing no sign of calming down any time soon.

The young lady that stood in the witness box quivered in where she stood. She was no longer confident to say anything.

"Will someone start talking?" Liam yelled out again. The prime minister was also scared of Liam when he was angry.

People present in the court were surprised that their loving and caring crowned prince could be this cold.

The prime minister rushed to his side. He would hate to have Liam repeat himself, cause he knew very well how angry the prince gets when he doesn't get his answer.

He whispered into Liam's ear the details of the case.

All these while, Liam has been trying to calm himself down. His emotions can trigger a really bad side of him which he was sure no one wants to see.

His attempts all yielded fruitless results cause he can't just get himself to calm down.

Why on Earth should he even stay calm? This has to do with one of his siblings. He would kill for their sake.

Liam took deep breathes repeatedly trying to calm himself down cause he could feel his rage struggling to be released, which is something he was not going to let happen. Definitely not in front of all these people.

"Where's the late Duke's daughter?" He asked concealing his anger. The lady standing at the witness box shivered in fright when she heard Liam's words.

The prime minister pointed to Lela standing at the witness box. "And where's Kyle?" He asked once more.

Then the court back room door opened with Kyle walking towards the center of the courtroom, being accompanied by two guards.

Liam sat down on the seat meant for the judge, which was his position as of now, since he was the acting king.

"Let the judging of the case of the third prince of Amstrid, Prince Kyle and the latr Duke Westerfields daughter, Lady Lela commence."

"The victim, Lady Lela can now speak." Liam said coldly. Lela was scared to wits. Staring at Liam right now made her want to just run out of the courtroom.

"Didn't you hear me the first time?" Liam asked, throwing death glares at her.

"Uhmm... I... Uhhh... I." She stammered.

"Lady can you speak coherent words?" The prime minister slightly yelled at Lela cause he could see Liam was slowly loosing his patience.

"What transpired between the prince and you?" The prime minister asked calmly this time around.

"Uhmm... the... uhh..." She said shakingly.

"If you stutter one more time, I'll have your tongue cut off." Liam threatened which shocked everyone seated in the courtroom.
