Morning arrived, carrying the scent of fresh breath in the air. Birds chirped as they flew by, and the wind whispered like a sweet melodious voice. Despite the beauty of the morning with the sunlight peeking through the half-opened window, Safiya woke up grimacing. There was nothing pleasant about the morning.
"What could have happened last night? Haa, Malik," she thought. She had watched Malik sleep until she eventually succumbed without realizing it. Now, she found herself waking up with the other side of the bed empty.
"Malik!" she groaned, throwing the sheet off her body.
Where had he disappeared to so early in the morning? Why wasn't he by her side in bed? Even though he had forgotten every piece of her, couldn't he have at least greeted her good morning?
*Knock, knock.*
The sound of someone knocking on the door made Safiya shift her gaze. "Come in," she mumbled.
