Kayla's POV:
The street lights had been turned on a couple of hours ago and I was still roaming around, jobless. By this time, I had become hopeless because every job either had their spot taken up or didn't seem entertained by my resume.
Devastated by the day's exhaustion, I contemplated whether I should go back home and binge watch another series just like every other day, or be determined for once in my life and do something productive.
Binge watching it was.
It seemed as if the whole world was against me today, toward this pathetic soul.
At that point, I imagined myself looking like a sack of potatoes while aimlessly wandering around with my face downcast. Sticking to my decision, I made up my mind to head back home, not being able to wait to lay on my purple bed sheets and chew on another blueberry flavoured gum.
As I turned on my heels, it was then that I realised I had been way too caught up with my thoughts that I wandered off into a completely empty street.
I was too dazed in my thoughts to even realise where I was heading. Scanning my surroundings, it was evident there was nothing but people. There weren't any houses or shops lining the streets like before. Just the illuminating street lights and the sound of wind whooshing by to keep me company.
My feet were already taking me back the way I came as I attempted to recall the numerous turns I took on my way.
By now, the sky was dark and gloomy, showing no signs of the sun's rays. Following the street lights like a beacon while sticking to the sidewalks, I felt my heart starting to beat faster as I continued walking further into the bare streets.
It's then when I begin noticing locked-up buildings and pawn stores lining the streets. They were either closed or were closing down for the day.
Just when I turned the corner to another street, a green car swerves sharply and takes left onto the road behind me. It had loud music blasting through its speakers, probably loud enough to wake an entire neighbourhood.
It disappeared behind the buildings, making me feel a sense of relief knowing I'm alone again.
As I prepared to cross the streets, I heard the familiar sound of strong engines revving getting louder and louder by the second.
Not a minute after the car left, the same green vehicle appeared in front of me again, this time only closer.
Extremely close.
I covered my ears and shut my eyes as tight as possible, hysterically anticipating the impact of the car against my body.
Only that it doesn't.
The car stopped inches away from me with a loud screeching tire sound.
My shaking hands didn't come down from my ears and neither did I open my eyes. I was still frozen from shock.
After a few moments of silence, I slowly opened my eyes, expecting to see a mad driver standing in front of me with hands on hips.
However, before I could even recompose myself and fully open my eyes, I felt a pair of muscular arms wrap around my torso while a cloth was being placed on my mouth.
And before I even knew it, I suddenly became dizzy and everything around me became a blur. It was not long after that I was engulfed by darkness.
