Chapter 3 - Phase 3: Friendly

Kayla's POV:

"Splash!"

It's like a cold wave, pulling me back from darkness. I blinked my eyes rapidly, adjusting my vision to the blinding light. Observing the concrete walls, I figured myself to be in some sort of an underground chamber. My efforts to wipe the droplets of water off my face failed since my hands clung to my back. I fought hard to loosen the knot around my wrists as a sharp pain pierced through my muscles.

"Don't even try," A snickering low voice surges through my ears.

I squint at the source of the voice and a male form slowly materialises in front of my eyes. Gathering up my courage, I slowly lift my head to look him in the eye. His eyes go dark as they pierce through my own while sending an immense current of anger and annoyance, making sure I was aware of it.

"Let's be all friendly with each other, shall we?"

"Who are you?"

"Who do you think I am?"

My face distorts with confusion upon what he says. "How am I supposed to know, silly!?"

Frankly speaking, I was more concerned about my perfect night of relaxation gone to waste rather than me being kidnapped, as I figured.

Upon hearing my little tease, his expression darkens and his eyes pierce through mine. "You don't seem scared at all."

"No."

"Of course you wouldn't know me, but I'm sure you know why it's me."

"No."

He definitely needed to meet a psychiatrist or at least fix his memory for that matter.

"Forget it, just keep quiet," he murmurs back, shifting in a chair in front of him.

"No? Do you even hear yourself when you talk?" I felt braver than I thought I was as those words flew out of my mouth effortlessly.

He grunts in annoyance as he shifts his gaze away from mine. Silence falls between us and it's just our breathing that fills the air around us. Sighing, I decide to get this over with.

"You've got the wrong person." Although it's the most cliché thing to say, it was true.

He scoffs at that. He drags his chair closer to me, allowing me to get a better view of him.

I couldn't help but think how perfect he looked. Chiselled face, sharp jaws, mesmerising eyes… everything you could expect in a beautiful man. And his eyes were like an endless galaxy…

"And yet you couldn't be the wrong person however I think of it."

I didn't realise that I was staring at him shamelessly until he snapped his fingers right in my face.

"And how is that?"

"Darling, you should know this better than anyone."

He takes a deep breath and holds still for a few seconds before looking back at me.

But this time, his eyes weren't mischievous like before. Instead, they seemed to possess a dark demeanour. I was actually scared.

"You put yourself into this. You, and only you."
