Jad Karadin never chose the life of a witcher, and he has long since grown tired of it.
Because of the so-called 'Law of Surprise' guided by fate, Jad was handed over by his father as if he were a commodity to the witcher of the Cat School, a man who seemed crazy. Thus began his tormented life.
The protracted sword training added countless scars to young Jad's body; the inhumane Trial of the Grasses, potions and toxins even destroyed his spirit to pieces.
The sword training killed many of his companions, and the transformation with potions ended up killing the rest. In the end, Jad looked around him and realized that there was no one new except him.
He became the only witcher of his generation to succeed in the Trial of the Grasses. Later he learned that this was a common occurrence, and what was even more common was that there were no successful trials.
What's even more frightening is that Jad realizes that in this crazy and depressing life, he has gradually become the kind of madman he hates. Acting in extreme ways without considering the consequences, being radical and violent.
Witcher's potions always have various side effects. The side effects of the Cat School is mental destruction. The potion enters the brain and breeds extreme lunatics.
After leaving the Cat School castle, Jad used his remaining sanity to think about his future. He never chose to be a witcher, nor did he want to be one.
Jad was inspired by the bandit gang he met in his spare time, but he wanted to form a bigger one. After receiving several commissions from witchers, Jad soon began to recruit bandits to form his own team.
What Jad wants is not something low-class like a bandit group. What he wants to form is a caravan, a team that can stably provide him with enough funds and allow him to live a peaceful life.
As a result, Jad's band grew larger and larger, with extremely rapid personnel changes. At the same time, to accelerate the accumulation of funds, he acted as a group of bandits to seize the properties of the weaker ones and as a mercenary when facing the stronger ones.
The funds were quickly accumulated. Jad did have some business acumen. If he had not become a witcher, he might have become a good businessman.
This time it turned out to be Jad's group's last job as bandits. He approached a powerful mage hundreds of years old to smuggle an important spellcasting material to him.
The spellcasting material is now lost by him.
Jad lurked deep in the bushes, watching the noble boy by the campfire send out all the soldiers except himself. A clear crystal the size of a fist was held in his hand, thrown up and then caught, like a toy.
Jad's eyes lit up with every move of Lann. What the boy held in his hand, and was treated like a toy, was his future!
When the soldiers moved a little further away, Jad would jump on him and slit his throat.
Suddenly, perhaps because it was difficult to maneuver with the armor on. The crystal passed by the palm and fell to the ground. It spun and jumped into... the bonfire.
The young man seemed stunned for a moment. He looked at his palm, where the crystal fell, and then at the bonfire. He didn't seem to react, and he seemed to think the result was too funny.
Then, he made a helpless gesture.
After that, he didn't care.
The crystal crackled and burned inside the bonfire.
"You bastard!" An angry roar that was not like a human sounded from the depths of the jungle, and Jad jumped out like a cat whose tail was stepped on.
Lann immediately took out the long sword at his side, and as soon as he used it to defend himself from the attack, he felt a surge of power transmitting through the sword.
[Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!]
It continued to ring, and Jad brandished the long sword in his hand like the wind. At the same time, he was accompanied by a rhythm and rotation like a butterfly among flowers. Every time he turned around, he prepared for the next blow. Each turn brought another series of cuts.
In the dead of night, it was like a huge windmill that was constantly throwing out sparks. He started dancing!
Lann recognized the move used by the opponent at a glance. It was a late stage move in the Witcher's [Fast Attack] series, or even an ultimate move!
[Whirl] is an ability that requires investing 20 ability points to activate. It is also a crucial skill for close combat witchers.
Seeing that he could barely stop the witcher as he started to spin, Lann decisively let go of the long sword in his hand, rolled backwards, and suddenly fell into the fire.
The witcher's sword kept dancing, clanging like a hammer and striking randomly at Lann's armor, without breaking through.
The heavy armor crashed into the burning bonfire, scattering hot wood chips and forcing the witcher a few steps away.
Lann pulled off his visor, tossed the crystal he picked up from the fire, and glanced provocatively at the witcher opposite.
He also has skills, and they are skills that the opponent has no way of learning!
[Fleet Footed] (4/5)
Jad didn't think so much, he just thought that the armor worn by the noble boy opposite was too thick. The Cat School has never been good at breaking armor, so it's normal that it can't cut.
"Kid, hand over the crystal in your hand. I will leave immediately. The fight between us is meaningless."
"Makes sense." Lann pulled out another long sword from the side of the campfire. This was his camp, and weapons had been arranged around it.
"Sense? Boy, do you know who I am?"
Lann used the flickering light of the fire to clearly see the cat head necklace on the other person's chest, and he felt a little calmer. Since he knew that the leader of the bandit group was a witcher, Lann had guessed that among witchers, only the Cat School could do such a thing.
The Cat School is rich in assassins, who are good at swords, like to wear light armor, and have no ability to break armor themselves. Lann put on a knight's full armor just to defend against them.
According to Lann's observation, the opponent did not release the seal after coming up. What Lann feared most was that the opponent would raise his hand to cast a Sign, which would truly be impossible to combat.
Now is the best situation. The witchers in this world are not as perverted as in the game. Rather, they are like a combination of those featured in 'The Witcher Saga' novels and television series. The witchers are closer to the position of 'warriors'.
Extraordinary, but not that extraordinary. They can be fought!
Out of etiquette, it's time to say a few harsh words.
"I will know who you are later." Lan said. "The question now is, do you know who I am!"
