Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6

Aurora paced up and down, biting down on her fingers, thinking of what to do next. She moved quickly to the window and watched the guards who were standing outside.

"She cannot stay here, I will not allow it!", Chloe yelled from the courtyard, slamming her hand on the wall.

Aurora tiptoed to the door to hear them clearly but she could not hear the king's response. She felt bad thinking about how the king misled her.

"Oh, sorry, I did not know you were at the door", Lucas said, he had pushed Aurora as he opened the door.

"It's fine", Aurora responded casually. She tried not to look at him.

"I see you have met Chloe", Lucas said, after breaking the awkward silence.

"I have", I replied, not wanting to waste any more words talking about the situation.

"I think you should have a seat first, you are still recovering", Lucas said, holding her hands.

He moved closer and tried to carry her to the bed.

"No," Aurora said firmly, letting go of his hands.

"No? Why?" Lucas asked. He could not understand.

"I do not think it is right for a married man to be this close to another woman", Aurora said, folding her hands.

"Married man? Another woman? What are you talking about ", Lucas said, putting out his hands to hold hers again.

"I do not have a problem with you being married, I just hate that you lied to me about it", Aurora said, now looking him in the eye.

"You are speaking in riddles, speak clearly", Lucas said, facing Aurora.

"Chloe, is she not your wife", Aurora replied, taking a seat on the bed as if the confession had weakened her.

" What a ridiculous thing to say, who told you this?", Lucas said, trying hard to keep his laughter in.

"Chloe did", Aurora said, wondering why Lucas was smiling at her while she boiled with anger.

Lucas could not keep it in, he burst into uncontrollable laughter.

"So...?", Aurora asked, curious about his reaction.

Lucas walked close to her and stood in front of her by the bedside.

"So, if Chloe was not my wife would you let me carry you?", Lucas asked.

" I...I...don't know, maybe", Aurora stuttered.

"Well, Chloe is my childhood friend. Her family and mine are close and we have been together for a long time", Lucas said, placing his hands on the bed.

" That means you are not married to her", Aurora replied, heaving a silent sigh of relief.

"Exactly", Lucas said. His hands went round her waist and he picked her up from the edge of the bed where she sat and laid her on the bed.

Aurora was silent, she watched him quietly while he kissed her on the forehead.

"You should not be stressing yourself", Lucas said, running his hands through her hair.

"She said she wanted me out", Aurora said, watching Lucas's blue eyes.

"Chloe is like that, she is protective of me and her space. She spent most of her time here in this castle. She even stayed in this room when she stopped by, so you see, this room also belongs to her", Lucas replied, still stroking her.

"What about her parents?" They were always too busy for her, we played every day for years", Lucas replied with excitement.

"All these years, nothing happened between you either?", Aurora asked.

" I did not say so", Lucas replied in a low tone.

"You two were a thing? Are you engaged to her? Betrothed?", Aurora asked at the same time.

"She was the first person I kissed, my first kiss", Lucas whispered.

"I think it's a big deal, you probably feel some type of way for her", Aurora said, patting his back.

"No it's not, we were kids, we did not know what we were doing ", Lucas replied, then he stopped and paused, staring at my lips.

"Maybe", I replied, biting my lips unconsciously.

Lucas could no longer take it, he wanted to kiss Aurora so badly, he tried leaning in but Aurora sat up immediately, unaware of what was happening.

"How is the preparation for the feast?", Aurora asked, changing the topic.

"Oh, yes", my men have gone hunting for the largest meat, decorations are in place", Lucas replied.

"Decorations?", Aurora asked with a smile. She loved how she was being treated.

"There is no party without decorations", Lucas said. He picked up her hands and rubbed his hands on her fingers.

"True", Aurora said, watching him.

They stared at each other for a while, saying nothing. Lucas moved closer and closer to her face but Chloe barged in.

"Is she gone",? Chloe shouted from the door.

"This is her new home, Chloe, she is not going anywhere ", Lucas shot back.

"I don't want her here", Chloe yelled.

" It is not about what you want", Lucas replied immediately.

Aurora watched them quarrel but could not help but feel bad about what was happening. She buried her face in her palms.

"Look at how short her dress is, she is probably here to seduce you and when you are not looking, she will take you down", Chloe said, pointing at the short dress she wore. Chloe was right about the dress. Camila's dress appeared a bit too short for Aurora.

"What nonsense", Lucas yelled. He was now yelling too.

"Yes, she is a spy", I know you don't see it but I do", Chloe added.

"She is not a spy ", Lucas said.

"How do you know that?", Chloe asked.

"She is not that type of girl", Lucas said, walking away from Chloe.

"You have only just known her and her plan is working already, she is already causing a rift between us", Chloe said as she walked towards Lucas and placed her hand on his chest.

" You are the one creating this rift, Chloe", Lucas said, taking her hands off his chest.

" Lucas, you will regret this", Chloe said as she stormed out of the room.

Aurora sat and watched quietly without interfering. Lucas came back and sat on the bed with her.

"Do not mind her, she is not used to changes", Lucas said, his eyes returned to her lips.

He leaned in and held her waist with the right hand and with the left he held her chin, moving closer and closer to kiss Aurora.
