Once they were in front of her company, she opened her hand for the umbrella so they could part ways, but Epraim did not give it to her.
"I would like to accompany you to the shaded area. Would that be alright?"
Sonia eyed him. Those lines, she had heard them several times from men who attempted to court her, but she agreed thinking he was just trying to be polite. Besides, they have only met once, so she thought it was impossible he had that intention.
When they arrived at the shaded area, he gave her the umbrella and stood still just staring at her.
"Is there something else you want to say?"
"Are you free on Saturday?"
"That's my rest day," she said as she folded the umbrella. "Thank you for accompanying me. Goodbye."
Epraim held unto her wrist. "Wait, to be honest, I'm looking for a female companion who's familiar with the local culture and customs here... and can navigate the business world well."
