Marianna is seated on her desk as some guys made jest of her secretly and they squished a white paper and throw on her but her friend "may" reported the bullies to the teacher who was facing the board.
The teacher turned around and saw Marianna sitting there, white paper stuck to her shirt. "What's going on here?" the teacher asked, her brow furrowed in concern. The students in the class all pointed at the boys who had thrown the paper at Marianna, and the teacher called them to her desk. "Is this true? Did you throw this paper at Marianna?" the teacher asked, her voice stern. The boys looked at each other, their faces red with embarrassment. "Yes, ma'am," one of them mumbled.
"now go apologize to her and I'm taking you boys to the Dean" she told them. The boys shuffled over to Marianna's desk, heads hung low. "We're really sorry," one of them said, his voice barely audible. "We didn't mean to make you upset." Marianna looked up at them, her eyes still stinging from the humiliation. "It's okay," she said, her voice tight. "Just don't do it again." The boys nodded and went back to their seats, while the teacher walked them to the Dean's office. As the class resumed, Marianna tried to focus on her work, but she couldn't help but feel hurt and angry. The boys shuffled over to Marianna's desk, heads hung low. Her friend "May" walked up to her desk "it's okay Marianna the boys will get the punishment they deserve" and Meri looked at her and nodes in affirmation. May sat down next to her and put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "You know you're not alone, right?" she said, her voice gentle. "I'm always here for you." Marianna felt a rush of gratitude towards her friend, and a tear escaped from her eye. "Thanks, May," she said, wiping the tear away. May gave her a warm smile. "Anytime, Mari," she replied.
