Her brain went numb as she walked towards the stall packed at the side of the road where all the box of biscuits where in.
"I should have said something",she sighed to herself.
"But somehow talking about families reminded me of them",her eyes trailed off, remembering what happened long ago, when her family where still alive.
It felt just like yesterday when young layla had begged her parents to let her go to Julia's birthday party.
"Mom, Dad please. Julia begged me to come for her birthday",her young soft tiny voice begged her parents who where entangled together sitting on their soft white couch.
"No, Don't let her. She and Julia are just going to the river so that they can see the big blue boat",her younger sister and her twin ,Josh said.
"It a lie, we are staying home to celebrate",Layla denied the accusation.
"You can even call her parents",she urged to back up her claims.
"Okay then, I will but first your room needs to be clean. I can't have you leaving the work for your siblings",her mom said, a beautiful pale skin lady, with hair just like Layla, short.
"But mom I don't have TIME to do that",Layla exclaimed.
Ivy, her younger sister and an identical twin to Josh ran to her front and mocked her by baring out her tongue with her hands in her two ear.
"You get to clean the room",she mocked sang.
"Enough you dimnit", Layla cursed out angry.
"Layla, No curse word in this house",her father a stern teacher cautioned her.
"I know that but she's so annoying",layla said still glaring at her sister.
With that she stormed to the room and began to clean the room, arranging and dusting her books, bed and shelves.
By the time she was done, she was very tired and dirty, a little bit of sweat formed at her temple.
"Am so hungry but I bet Julia have enough cakes",she cheered herself.
"Time to wash up"
With that she ran to the bathroom and began to have her shower, washing and scrubbing her small body.
Soon when she was done, she rubbed her skin with oil and cream, looking shiny like the stars.
"Julia mentioned Chris would be there",she smiled to herself.
Chris her crush in school.
"Now, here comes the problem. Which clothes should I wear?",she wondered, searching through her wardrobe.
"This peach looks good",
"No it doesn't. It looks awful",her brother josh said behind her, shocking her.
"How did you enter the room?",layla asked.
"Through the door duhh",the boy answered, his voice was dull, probably asking Layla,
Where else?
"You can't wear that to the party",josh said looking at the peach long gown.
"Well, if you are know which clothes I should wear, Be of good use", Layla surrendered.
"Your taste for fashion is so bad".
"Let see",the young boy went through all the clothes like a modern french fashionist.
"Not this one, Not this either. Ughhh, definitely not this",he said, then he turned to look at Layla.
"Don't you have any thing of value?",he asked sighing.
"Ouch, that hurt",Layla said.
He turned back to the wardrobe, already wondering how he came to be the brother of Layla.
"This looks good",he said, in his small hand was a short red gown with a big design of flower at the left shoulder.
"And you can match it with this black shoe",.
Layla looked at the dress he selected and began to wonder why didn't she think of that. Leave it to Josh to always know the best outfits.
"Thank you Josh. Now leave",she ordered not ready to show her happiness in front of her brother.
"Ughhh. Anyway bring a piece of cake for me. And with frost still on it",he said, then he left the room.
Few minutes later, she was already at Julia birthday party. Julia parents had decorated their garage with beautiful design, with a big banner of Happy Birthday Julia, at the front of the door.
"What do you think of this?",young Julia asked bugging Layla. The girl was so happy and beautifully cute, her small face and chubby cheeks with her red hair that was packed into a pony tail.
"Yeah, it is good, very good",Layla replied, greatly impressed.
The whole garage where full with their mate, and everyone was dancing to the jazzing blaring music. The outside noise couldn't be heard inside the garage.
"You've seen Chris?",Layla asked Julia who kept on shaking and dancing.
"I was wondering when you would ask. His right over there",she pointed at the corner of where her big cake was kept.
"Thank you",Layla said then she walked to where Chris was.
But before she could get to him, his friends had beat her to it.
"There goes my chance",she sighed then went back to julia.
"No luck let me guess",Julia asked.
"Nope. Hey!!,let go to the river and see the boat. It would be around the shore by now", Layla happily announced.
"I don't know Layla, I promised my dad I would..."
"Oh please, we would be back before they notice and you know we have been waiting to see that boat for ages",
"Okay then".
Both friends immediately crept out of the garage and ran to the river.
But the blue boat that they where waiting for wasn't around.
"Where is it?. I thought you said it would be around the shore by now",Julia exclaimed.
"Let just wait for a little while. Besides don't you love the wave of the sea or even watching the sea", Layla asked, hoping to enchant Julia to the beauty of the sea, and it actually worked.
Young Julia, had pulled off her slipper and top, leaving her with only a bra and her short white skirt.
Both friends waited and played till sun fall, then twilight came but still no boat.
Layla was so angry while Julia who had enjoyed her time tried to coax her.
"Don't worry there is still a next time",
"But we have waited all of the month to see this stupid boat",Layla said angrily.
"It night let go home. I bet your mom and dad would be worried by now",
As soon as she heard mom and dad, Layla eyes widened in alarm and fear.
"It already twilight and am suppose to be home by now",
Quickly, Layla ran home, not stopping to greet anybody.
Soon she got home, standing at the front of the house, she could see that the light was on.
"That must be dad",her body shook in fear as she opened the door.
Entering the sitting room, expecting to see her dad at the chair with his stern face, she saw nobody. The house was so quiet and not a single noise was heard apart from her shoe.
"Maybe they are all sleeping. Thank God",she murmured.
"I better just go back to bed",as she took a step she stumbled upon their small table that was full of plenty of ivy's toys.
"Shit!!",she became alarm. No matter how anyone slept, they must have heard her.
But surprisely, no one came. That was wierd. Was anyone at home?
She walked up to her parents room, pulled the door opened and entered inside.
What she saw made her gasp and scearm.
All her family laid at the bed in the pool of their own blood. A bullet hole was in all their head.
Few minutes later, the cops had gathered at her room.
And with them was Julia whose eyes where red in tears.
