Chapter 74 - The Walking Ruin

Red Demon could see the torch light next to the gate. He looked up seeing a colossal tower fading high into the dark foggy sky. Upon its face was a stone head of a wolf looking across the landscape. Out front were two warriors in black uniforms with wolf masks on. They each were armed with a lance and a katana upon their belts. They emitted bloodlust and large amounts of chi. 'Must be Rank Four Demigods…best play this civil. I want Sister Spinner not the Wolf King' he thought to himself as he approached from the darkness. The two men jumped at the ready lances outstretched "Halt!" One screamed at him. "Don't come any closer!" One yelled. The other was louder, "STATE YOUR BUSINESS STRANGER!" Red Demon held up his hands in surrender, "I believe your King might be expecting me? Or a woman named Sister Spinner could be if she has lodging here?" He stated. One cocked his head to the side, "We will need to verify this information before you even walk through these gates sir!" Red Demon nodded, "I understand. I can assure you I mean no harm unless my life is in danger" he confessed. "What's your name?" One asked. "Red Demon I'm the King Slayer" they seemed to clench their lances harder. One didn't even turn their back to him as he knocked on the gate. A guard came, "Tell the King there is a visitor he claims to be the King Slayer. Be quick about it" the guard nodded and ran away inside the tower.

After a few minutes of waiting the same guard returned and the two had exchange some small talk. The guard turned to Red Demon and gave him a wave. The gate then rose open as he was free to pass. He was not left alone he was given an escort that kept a wide circle around him. He didn't mind he was only here for answers and to obtain his companion Smiling Demon. He was surrounded and now entering a tower that he had no knowledge of. 'This may be to my death, but at least I'll go out with some knowledge. Better to die wise over being a fool for the divine' regardless of his bravado he was sure that he was still fool even after death. 'Tethered to serve the divine and one day hopefully become a divine to obtain freedom' he felt an urge of adrenaline as he was escorted through the halls. He entered into a throne room with two fire pits torches spaced around the round room. Stone throne sat with fur upon it. Seated was a man in black robes and a wolf mask. He was joined by other wolf warriors. He presented himself to the king. He bowed, "Your majesty" he said standing upright after showing respect. "For someone stranded in a foreign land you are quite calm. Show great restraint…I commend that" he stated with a serious tone. "My grievance is not with you or your men. I merely want the one who designed my stranding sire" the king chuckled at this. "Yes. That is only natural. Sadly I have some news for you. That attitude will put me and you at odds" the king's eyes started to glow. His mask gave off an eerie feeling towards Red Demon. He felt off some how before his mind was jolted and cleared when he activated his Mind Element. He stepped forward, "Intimidation. I use that often….I seem to have struck a nerve?" He confessed keeping his face glaring at the king. "You have balls kid I'll give you that. Let's just say me and your target share a…friendship" Red Demon glared at him, "I'd rather we talk first before anyone does anything rash. And I have fought Sister Spinner before and didn't stand a chance?" the king confessed. The Wolf King nodded sitting back against his throne, "So why don't we sit and talk. Do you like tea?" Red Demon nodded at this suggestion.

King stood and outstretched a hand for him to follow. They were lead into a square chamber where a servant in black with a scarf over their faces began to ignite a stove and boil water to make tea. Not far from the stove was a table with two seats. They took a seat and waited. Once the tea was prepared the servant placed it in the middle with two cups. "Thank you. Please leave us. Guards do the same" he ordered. "Milord?" One protested, "If he was a Primordial I would worry personally. But he would kill a lot of you before I cut him down. So best let us talk. Wait outside" the warrior sank his head and then walked out closing the door. The king then removed his mask setting it next to him. He was a middle aged looking man with gray hair goatee and white eyes. He smirked as he poured the tea. Red Demon hesitated as he pulled his mask down. Revealing a handsome face with a scar over the right side of his lip. It extended down to his chin. It didn't seem to deform his face and was a clean cut when it occurred. They picked up the tea at the same time and took a drink. They took a long drink before setting their cups down. "So….where is she?" He asked. He wanted to ask her about the visions he saw and what it means to be this 'Walking Ruin' and get his stuff back. "That really what you want to ask first?" The king retorted pouring another cup. "Would of thought you would ask about your companion first. He's a loyal man I would treasure him as a guard if I were you?" Red Demon squinted bringing his eyes together, "Didn't think you would know that? Being she stated having him herself?" He spat back with a bit of anger.

"He's thrived here. Managed to level him up for you as well about to be Rank Five third tier soon. Body sure reached that rank before his core has. And along with his Mind Palace. He is quite dedicated" he explained. "Where is now?" He asked. "Hunting for Mythical Beasts for our forge. He didn't like being a free loader so we made an arrangement for him to help with inventory" he explained. Red nodded at this, "I see. Glad to hear he is safe that is a relief" he said with a sigh. He had been worried about Smiling Demon being he was the only friend he had and his partner on killing Kings. But he had prioritized other things over his guard and perhaps he didn't see that.

"As for your quarry. She is roaming about she likes to talk at the right moment. Her Soul Plane demands much attention and refinement at all costs" he explained. "Her Soul Plane?" He asked. "Yes each Primordial posses a pocket dimension or territory of power. Best way to describe it is that it's your Mind Palace made real. It is also the realm Primordials use to cultivate. More the dimension expands the more the soul core grows. No one can enter another's plane without permission making it a safe haven for that individual" the king explained drinking some tea. "What about you? Clearly your already in Primordial status remaining as a king?" Red asked smirking. "Simple really. Ash Realm is my ruling land. But my plane is my true home. I have a purpose as a Primordial keeping me exempt from the King's Test. I'm accepted as a cog in the universal machine" he said smiling. "Seems you two are a couple using the same words to explain your roles. So you are servants to the World keeping the universe turning correct?" The king nodded at Red Demon's words.

"So what now?" Red Demon said slumping back in his chair arms folded. "Simple" he took a sip of tea. "You can relax and use this time to elevate your core and utilize that new element you have. Quite a bit of Mind Element spells in our library?" He smirked with his suggestion. Red Demon rolled his eyes, "I want my equipment back before I go any further!" Red Demon glared at the king. The regal man nodded, "that is a fair request" he swiped his hand over the table and appeared was his belt, Moon Ray, and Sun Shard. On top of the items was his Oni mask. On a wire was his rings and earrings. "Please utilize my keep. You will need this time to train. It would benefit you in the future" the Wolf King suggested. Red Demon scooped up his items putting on his belt and jewelry. He strapped his swords to his belt paired together. "You seem to be in the know with your partner's plans?" He put his mask on before saying this. "What do you know about the Walking Ruin exactly?"

The king seemed to pause at this question. "Not for me to say" he stated. He stood putting the mask back on. Those five words seem to make his blood boil. He became over come by rage at being used like this. He was stranded here by a Primodial. And what he could see from the King's core he was also the same rank. 'I'm completely isolated here till I'm given the clear from this Sister Spinner' "I'm getting sick of this he whispered. "Why is everyone holding on to secrets that pertains to my business!" Red Demon even surprised himself at his outburst. But he was done playing around.

The king stood in silence staring at him then he shrugged, "Like I said. Not for me to say. My man Fulken will escort you to your lodgings. Train hard believe it or not I'm rooting for you" he then opened the door and left keeping it open. "Whatever anger your feeling I would suggest using our training facility to get rid of it" he said walking away.

Red Demon stared at the table and scoffed. He sat there alone for a long time. He directed his attention to the cup sitting in front of him. The small cup with amber colored liquid became the target of his anger. He then picked up the cup and threw it against the wall shattering it into pieces. Then tossed the table over as two warriors stepped into the door frame staring at. "Best move fellas. Or I'll make you!" he said with a calm cold tone. The men looked at one another and then stepped away from the door frame. He then walked out of the room.
