Then, I asked the system, how do I level up the weapon?
[The weapon damage and attribute will increase as the skill level increases]
Nice, because I didn't need to use more resources to level up the weapon.
Afterward, I delved into exploring the system further. When I checked out the shop, certain items piqued my interest, with the Spatial Bag being the most intriguing.
[Spatial Bag: bag with unlimited space, capable of storing all sorts of items, from fresh produce to potions and valuable artifacts]
I couldn't help but recall that the system didn't offer storage for items like potions, making it a hassle to use them during intense battles, as we had to buy them from the system's store.
And it was such a pain to do that!
What made matters worse was the steep price tag – a whopping 100.000 gold coins for a storage solution. Gazing at my current gold coin balance, I couldn't help but feel let down.
I shouldn't buy that weapon and scroll! Remembering that made me angry toward Matthias. If he hadn't mocked me for being stingy, I would never buy it.
Oh well, I just need to play more mini-games to get that many coins. So tomorrow was the perfect day for grinding.
But now, I am wondering what killing points were for? I mean, the second game ordered us to gather as many killing points as possible. It must be important.
[Killing points can be used in many things, but at this level, the part of the shop that could be brought by the killing points is still locked]
What the hell! Then, why would you order us to get that shit as much as we could at a lower level! Seriously? I almost died for the third time because of that!
And at which level could I unlock that shop?
[You need to reach level 15 to unlock the shop]
Damn, I'm stuck at level 10, and it feels like I'll have to grind my way to reach a higher level just to unlock that shop. Life can be so unfair sometimes.
But, man, I'm really itching to know what kind of stuff I can buy with those killing points. The system got me curious.
Suddenly, the door to my room creaked open, and in walked Matthias. He quipped, "You aren't up to anything weird in here, are you?" The light from outside flooded in, and I could tell that Matthias was standing in the doorway.
"Just close the door," I replied, not quite grasping what he meant by "weird."
Matthias entered the room and settled on the bed, causing it to sway. I couldn't focus on the bed still moving. "What on earth are you doing?" I asked, growing annoyed.
"Sorry, just trying to find a comfortable spot to sleep," Matthias explained, and thankfully, the bed stopped swinging.
"Have you already used your SSR weapon pass? I'm curious to know what you got. My own weapon was a bit underwhelming."
Oh yeah, I still have not used that SSR weapon pass and I still have 2 skill passes too. Did I need to use it now?
My instinct was not good today, but since the SSR weapon pass meant I was guaranteed to get SSR, it seemed worth a shot.
[Do you want to use an SSR weapon pass?]
"Yes."
And the animation started playing, of course, I would get an SSR weapon.
-------------------------------------------
[Weapon: Lumina Blaster SSR]
[Normal ATK cost: 3 MP
[HP: 350]
[MP: 180]
[Passive Skill:]
[Each use of the skill reduces the wielder's HP by 5% (except for Dove's Blessing), but in return, it accumulates a radiant buff which increases the 10% damage. If the HP falls below 50%, a formidable 30% damage boost is activated. ]
[The Lumina Blaster deals 35% more damage when confronting an adversary wielding dark magic at close quarters.]
[Skill:]
[Daybreak Swordstorm: After two single shots impact the enemy, call forth three celestial swords imbued with light magic to pierce through the target.]
[MP cost: 20]
[Skill Cooldown: 60 seconds]
[Luminous Nova Blast: Unleash the two single shots, causing the bullets to erupt in a radiant explosion, dealing area damage with the brilliance of light magic.]
[MP cost: 25]
[Skill cooldown: 90 seconds]
[Dove's Blessing: As the Lumina Blaster's shot takes flight, it morphs into a "Dove's Blessing" that radiates a healing aura, offering solace to you and your party in the area.]
[MP cost: 15]
[Skill duration: 60 seconds]
[Skill cooldown: 120 seconds]
-----------------------------------------
This was a great weapon! Not only useful for dark magic monsters like the undead, but it was also good with other monsters. The problem was the HP management and the skill cooldown. It was too long for sure.
I never paid any attention to my HP, well at least it has healing skills. For the cool down, I could just materialize another weapon and use its skills.
What bugged me, though, was the rigid power system. I could only use the skills associated with the default weapon and couldn't mix and match across different weapons.
So I couldn't use any skills that weren't part of the weapon, right?
[Wrong, you can still have skills from the skill banner that are not from the weapon]
What?! Seriously!? How could I never have that?
"Matthias, did you ever get a magic spell from a skill banner?" I asked, just to make sure that the system said it was right.
"Of course. I can even use them with any staff I have so I don't have to keep switching." Matthias answered. "You never get that?"
"No, I never got one before..." I felt weird.
Wasn't all of the skills that I got didn't match my Class? Of course except that Enhanced Perception. But I get that before I choose the Class.
But then again, I just spin the skill banner for like three times. So it was not all bad, right? I have SSS skills too.
"That's a shame, the spell that I got from the skill banner is always a banger! I also once got a bundle of spells too!"
Oh, shit, it sounds bad now! I never knew what kind of skill that the Ranger Class would get. Maybe I need to find another player that has the same Class as me?
Not a bad idea. Except that I need to interact with a total stranger. What a pain.
"By the way, what weapon did you get?" Matthias inquired.
"I received a double-barrel shotgun with light affinity," I answered, materializing the weapon.
It was not as heavy as I'd imagined, with a sleek white color and intricate gold patterns engraved on it.
Matthias then suggested, "How about we head to the mini-game area in the west of the city? Word is it's full of undead."
Interesting, given my new weapon and skills, it sounded like the perfect place to test them out.
"Sure, but I can't do it tomorrow."
"Why not?"
"No specific reason just felt like playing a mini-game solo tomorrow."
In truth, I wanted to find out what type of mini-game it was. If it turned out to be some kind of battle royale, there was no way I was bringing my party along.
"Alright, good night," Matthias said.
I decided to utilize my two skill passes, and the outcome was two R-ranked skills. One was a shielding skill, and the other was the ability to see in the dark. Both seemed rather handy when you thought about it.
The shield skill could be easily shattered by an opponent's attack, but it had a mere 15-second cooldown, which wasn't too shabby.
On the other hand, the night vision skill was genuinely useful, especially in situations where I needed to fight during the night or in the dark.
It provided a 5-minute duration and had a cooldown of just 4 minutes. This made it incredibly practical.
What made these skills even more appealing was that they both required a mere 15 MP to be activated, which wasn't too costly.
I couldn't wait for tomorrow to arrive. I needed to grind as much as possible to avoid falling behind my party.
