Since land was still a few ways away and the ship sailors still had to look for a place to set anchor, it was decided by the [Fisherman] that they would first send a contingent of people to land first and set down a base there.
Of course since I was a model worker and not at all because I was bored as hell I volunteered.
Quickly stepping onto one of the many boats that were going to land onto the shore, I ignored the old man that had somehow sneaked his way onto the boat alongside Guillian.
I had no qualms against both of them, but it was strange enough that the Fisherman allowed Guillian who was somewhat of a quack doctor onto the boat.
But at least Guillian had the qualifications of being a quack doctor, the old man on the other hand was literally undying unless his so called master was killed.
The fact that a box filled to the brim with preserved foods landed onto him and he quickly recovered even without a head just grounded that fact.
So I saw no benefit in him coming.
Unless they were intending to kick him off, which they might as well do unless I do the right? thinking about how strange it was to think killing someone was saving another.
The small paddle boat was released from the ropes.
Colliding against the water, the sea spray hit my face giving me a rather refreshing feeling.
"GAH!"
Sadly, a few drops snuck into my eyes.
Quickly rubbing them out with some mana, the other sailors didn't give a damn about me and continued to do their duties.
Unleashing the ropes from the starboard side, the paddles were unleashed from their cupboard as they quickly brought them out and sliced them into the water.
Pushing against the currents, the length of the oars were stuck into the little dents on the sides of the boat, placing themselves onto the benches, they instantly started to move.
It was honestly incredibly silent with how they were moving, and one would expect them to communicate with each other to well. work properly.
But years of being stuck together in a time where time loops, they had fostered a unified understanding with each other and were now capable of working together in unison all while silent.
Honestly impressive.
Watching them go, soon enough underneath the combined efforts of them all sending us up and over the cascading waves that crashed onto each other on the sea.
With a final heave the boat borrowed the momentum of a wave and plopped harshly onto the sand.
And me?
Well the moment we reached shallow waters I had already leapt off of the tiny shuttle boat and was now quickly moving to the sea shore while in the air.
"Hup hay hoo haa!"
Lightly tapping against the sands, I smiled.
Before my legs nearly gave out beneath me.
It seems days of standing on the side of a constantly shifting boat altered my sense of balance.
"Well this is new."
Quickly catching myself with the edge of a blade, I hoisted myself back up.
---
After that brief event where I nearly stumbled onto the sands and made a fool of myself.
Now I was standing at the entrance of a forest getting ready to enter it all the while supplies were being offloaded off the boat and sailors were preparing various tents to store said supplies.
As the wide expanse of jungle breached my senses, insects, birds and animals all around all screamed as their combined voices reached a peaking crescendo.
With the heat of the sun disappearing around the sides of the earth, one would expect everywhere else to be cold as well since the one heat source in the sky disappeared.
The problem was that this was a jungle.
A jungle where all the animals of the night came alive.
With humid winds slapping my face I spoke to Guillian behind me.
"Guillian."
"Yeah?" Looking at me with beady eyes all the while he used someone elses arm to scratch their back, Imma ignore that, I looked at Guillian.
"I'm just going to go since I don't really have much to do so don't look for me."
"I'm just going to enter the forest, I'll probably exit later but I'm just going to scout so..."
Looking at the moon that hadn't reached the peak I spoke again.
"I'll probably come back at midnight.
And just like that, without hearing Guillian's following words I left.
---
Looking at the quickly departing Accidental who slipped into the forest, Guillian regretfully stared at his retreating back.
"But I wanted to ask you something..."
Thinking about how the blood of the man who slew not one but two bosses while using an amount of mana never seen before by him, Guillian's tailed swished against the sand as he turned around.
Unaware of the lone purple eye staring at him from beneath the sands.
Crashing against the sea shore, the waves of the sea crashed out any other sounds as the eye slowly used its tendrils to pick itself up and quickly moved away.
---
"What did you say?"
Hearing the baritone and overbearing tone of the Corrupted Cultist, the Corrupted Seer didn't say anythin only providing a crystal orb which was connected to a network of eyes.
The so called brain of the network.
Quickly adjusting it, the crystal violet orb flowed brightly before displaying the image of a man flickering through the leaves of a forest.
Constantly switching through various images as the man slunk away into the night of the dark forested jungle.
Several images of corrupted beasts intentionally left loose in the forest combined with various critters of the night all scattered away at the sound of the approaching man.
But just as they were startled by the appearance of a possible predator confident enough to announce its presence in the whole of the forest.
The would be predator dashed off into the night leaving behind a few unlucky corrupted monsters into chunks of purple and blue flesh.
But thanks to the extended presence of the Corrupted Eye's organization having long spread its roots across the Southern shores which were adjacent to the Crimson hands Western ones.
The spies of the corrupted eye were everywhere.
Switching from eye to eye, purple eyes stared from within the forest as they were connected to anything that had life present in them.
Whether that be the trees of plants, none were spared as the myriad of purple eyes all simultaneously turned to the man that was running through the forest and disrupting the careful balance crafted by nature.
But as he kept on running, the gaps in the images presented by the eyes continued to grow as he continued on deeper into the forest where even the eyes hadn't properly spread to yet.
But that wasn't what the Corrupted Seer was looking out for.
If anything it would be a miracle if the Man was able to escape their sight for more than an hour as in the whole of the corrupted front and even some ways inland.
The Southern Shores were underneath the complete control of the Corrupted forces where the eyes were everywhere.
And even if he escaped their vision, it was only a matter of just spreading more eyes, he would eventually be found.
But as the Corrupted Seer stared at the Corrupted Cultists gauging his reaction, the Seer felt a chill run down the back of their neck.
As a purple haze synonymous with the corrupted evil powers of the corruption rose up around the Knight, the Seer hurriedly bowed their head not even caring about their image and duties.
The Corrupted Cultists was Angry.
Very angry.
So angry that the Seer started to pray to the corrupted lord to unleash the great evils directly to their souls to find solace in it all.
Staring at the purple orb which blinked out suddenly as the man disappeared, the Corrupted Cultist pieced together the visage of the man in their mind.
With a lanky body built for battle, with all the agility to run around and cause chaos wherever they went with the strength to back it up.
The man showcased strange powers such as manifesting swords, axes, bows and hammers whilst using magic to tear apart his surroundings.
But it wasn't those strange space warping powers why the man was mad as the world of Axia wasn't small and similar space warping powers had been found over the course of the era.
The Knight was one of those people themself.
The problem was the actual visage of the man.
Handsome, sharp faced with a rather dull but sharp look in their eyes and hair that blazed like ebony flames.
That was the face of the man that thwarted the decade old plan of weakening the city of adventurers by lowering the amount of corrupted monsters before launching an attack that contained the forces gathered over a decade.
By slowly but surely removing key corrupted monsters and moving them into their army, the corrupted beasts became aimless and fought against each other tearing themselves apart.
The fact that they were also amassing their forces simultaneously by picking out the survivors of these civil battles and engagements was a bonus.
And since the corrupted beasts which were the main reason that the city of adventurers had sprung up their in the first place, the adventurers slowly bled out of the city.
It reached the point that the city finally had more empty inn rooms and full beer kegs than adventurers.
It was at that point they attacked with the decade amassed force.
All to accumulate sacrifices to wake up the divine beast of the corrupted lord.
The great devouring beast and the boss monster of the corrupted lands of evil.
The Devourer of the earth, the [Eater of Worlds]
And it would've succeeded as well if not for the appearance of an unlikely interloper.
The man known as Slade Dara Bridge.
The man who ruined the century old plan to call down the corrupted lord to send their grace across the planet of Axia.
It was all to spread the blessing of evil to the unenlightened.
But that man.
That damned man.
He was the reason they had to instead resort to sacrificing the beasts of corrupted beasts that had already accepted the weakest blessing of evil instead of the unenlightened people.
It was why they had to resort to feeding their lord a poor meal.
Flames of rage leaking through the crevices of their helmet, the Knight stared at the crystal orb.
"Corrupted Seer."
"YES!"
Trembling fiercely now, the violet crimson eyes which were dyed by rage stared at the Seer who's robe was lined with the silver colour of seers.
"Gather the Corrupted."
"Which corrupted Lord Cultist?"
"All of them."
"Even the followers milord."
"I SAID ALL OF THEM!"
Voice trembling with rage the Corrupted Seer didn't say anything more, abandoning the Crystal orb atop the pedestal and dashed away.
The Corrupted Cultist was truly angry.
It contrasted the incredibly cold and calculating tone of voice that the Knight portrayed over the course of the many years as they dedicated everything to the corrupted lord.
It was honestly surprising how lenient he was this time on the lives of his subordinates.
Usually they would remove the upper halves of unlucky people if they were in a bad mood.
But they seemed so blinded by rage that they couldn't do anything else.
Hurriedly bringing out a scroll from within their robes, the Corrupted Seer hurriedly unraveled it and sent their corrupted purple mana into the scroll.
Lighting the scroll up, purple eyeballs slowly rose up from within.
"Call all of the Priests and tell them this Gather all of the Devotees and followers you can, the lord Cultist is enraged as the one who ruined the decade plan has reappeared."
Eye tendrils swinging their limbs in acknowledgement, the next thing the Corrupted seer knew, those eyes had disappeared and were now leaping across the network of corrupted demon eyes hidden across the vast expanse of forest.
It was truly going to be a day of reckoning.
