Chapter 104: The Goddess of Fortune Smiles
Hina slept soundly, dreaming of soaring through fluffy clouds, gliding through the air until a gentle breeze carried her away.
Cool and refreshing...
Hina opened her eyes to find herself high up, surrounded by familiar sights, like the sofa in her home and the bunny plush sitting on it.
"Hina, you're awake?" Belldandy asked as she noticed Hina's eyes open, smiling at her. "Would you like to come down?"
Hina remembered that this was the beautiful sister who had taken her place earlier that day, but she couldn't quite recall her name.
Not one to be dense, Hina buried her face in Belldandy's shoulder, feeling embarrassed.
Yuta pushed the motorcycle into the house. He was relieved that starting tomorrow, he wouldn't have to be hauling it in and out every day.
"Hina, Belldandy, would you like a drink?" Yuta asked as he walked toward the kitchen to wash his hands and grab something to drink.
"Belldandy Onee-chan!" Hina suddenly remembered Belldandy's name and exclaimed happily, "Belldandy Onee-chan, I want to get down!"
Belldandy gently set Hina on the ground and took another look around the house that she hadn't fully examined before.
Yuta returned with two glasses of orange juice for Belldandy and Hina. "Here, have something to drink."
"Thank you!" Belldandy replied, taking the juice.
Hina, however, was not pleased with the juice and pouted, "I want cola!"
"Cola is bad for your teeth, and it's low in calcium. Besides, you just had some yesterday!" Yuta had his limits when it came to pampering Hina and stood firm. "Unless you finish the dinner I prepared for you today, I won't let you have a cup of cola!"
"Hmph! If I can't have it, then I don't want anything! Hina doesn't want to eat those bitter things! Yay—" Hina stuck out her tongue and made a face at Yuta before running away.
Belldandy watched the playful interaction between Yuta and Hina and smiled warmly.
Once Hina had dashed off, Yuta turned to Belldandy and said, "Belldandy, I'll be counting on you to help with Hina from now on."
Belldandy nodded, "No problem."
Just then, as Yuta explained his family situation to Belldandy, Miu and Sora entered the house together.
Miu was the first to walk in, changing her shoes while chatting with her sister about school.
Sora spotted the motorcycle parked off to the side and quickly made her way to the living room, realizing Yuta was back.
Upon entering the living room, they saw an exceptionally beautiful woman—more attractive than anyone who had visited before—dressed in unusually lovely attire.
Miu noticed Belldandy and smiled, "Hello, I'm Takanashi Miu. Are you here to play Mahjong too, Onee-san?"
Sora examined Belldandy and then glanced over at Yuta, baffled as to why he kept bringing home women!
"Onii-chan, I don't want to be rude, but what do you think our home is? A Mahjong parlor?!"
Sora, feeling the pressure emanating from Belldandy, vented her frustration at Yuta with an annoyed look.
Miu tugged on Sora's hand, trying to ease the tension. "Onii-chan, you should really give us a heads-up next time."
Belldandy, who had a good impression of Yuta, curiously asked, "Is it not allowed to play Mahjong at home?"
As the Goddess of Fortune, Belldandy always had excellent luck when playing cards, so she often played Mahjong with the goddesses in the heavens.
Yuta understood why Sora was upset and walked over to explain, "Sora, this is Belldandy. Belldandy lives alone in a desolate temple, and after discussing it with her, we decided to move there. We'll be moving in the next couple of days and making it a more suitable place for us to live."
"Onii-chan, what are you talking about?" Sora turned to Belldandy, who was smiling kindly, and said angrily to Yuta, "I don't want to move!"
Yuta patiently replied, "But you agreed before, didn't you? Our place is too small, and Belldandy is very welcoming. It'll be much livelier if we're all together."
"I take it back!" Sora was adamant, turning away and sulking. "If you didn't bring those random people home, it wouldn't be so crowded!"
Miu stepped in and held Sora's hand. "Onee-chan, Onii-chan is doing this for our benefit. Let's go change our clothes first, and we can talk about it later."
Miu was more understanding than Sora and turned apologetically to Belldandy. "I'm sorry, Belldandy Onee-chan. We'll come back down in a bit."
"Did I do something wrong?" Belldandy was unsure what mistake she had made but felt responsible, so she turned to Yuta with concern.
Yuta shook his head. "No, it's not your fault. It's mine."
"Then I caused you trouble. I'm sorry," Belldandy apologized, feeling guilty and wondering how she could help Yuta feel better.
Yuta smiled reassuringly. "It's fine, Sora is a good kid. Kids can be temperamental, but it'll pass quickly."
Belldandy, who also had a younger sister, noticed the nervousness and unease in Sora's eyes when she looked at her earlier. "I'll go apologize to her."
"There's no need for that; I can call someone over to help with this," Yuta responded, making a calming gesture. He then dialed another person's number.
"Hello, Raikan-nee? It's Yuta. Can you come over? Great, I'll pick you up."
After ending the call, Yuta turned to Belldandy. "Belldandy, can you play Mahjong?"
"Yes, I played a lot with the other women in the heavens," Belldandy nodded.
Yuta needed to know about Belldandy's skill level, so he asked, "What's your skill like?"
"Well, I'm not exactly sure, but I rarely lose," Belldandy replied honestly.
Belldandy didn't lie, and hearing her response made Yuta smile. "Then you better bring your A-game! I'll set up a Mahjong table tonight!"
"Okay!" Belldandy beamed at Yuta's encouragement, her smile radiating warmth.
The Goddess of Fortune was smiling...
