Chapter 10 - The Village? (1)

Meanwhile, Lunamir was observing everything transpiring and watched as Baranor entered the ghouls cave and searched for their stash of goods. When Baranor entered and started to search around Lunamir received a sudden message.

-----------------------------------------------

-Corrupted sword detected within the area would you like to bind the current bearer (Baranor) - Lvl 20 To Corrupted sword (!@$&#@) Lvl?

!Warning! A binding is permanent and can not be undone until the users soul is vanquished or the sword destroyed

-Their may be possible penalties of which include, swords immediate destruction. or the bearer being slightly harmed or blinded

-Bearer must also accept the binding

-----------------------------------------------

Lunamir looked at the prompt ignorant on what it would do, However looking at the risk Lunamir found it decently reasonable and accepted it. Sending the prompt to Baranor, Lunamir was quite satisfied seeing Baranor accept it, When Baranor accepted the request Lunamir looked at the new prompt in front of him.

------------------------------------

-A runic sword has been bound to the ring bearer (Baranor)

-(Exclusive) A runic sword can hold a max of 10 runes which can all be interchangeable and are acquired from the knowledge of a certain rune or reaching a certain requirement with exceptions of, extremally strong emotions or desires affecting the swords runes

-A runic sword can also evolve with its user

------------------------------------

Lunamir looked at the words with satisfaction and understanding of what the sword was, looking at Baranor who also seemed to be just as happy with his new weapon swung it around in the air a few times before settling down and leaving the hole they were in.

Baranor looking up into the night sky decided to lay on Talon's side for now until the giant bear decided to wake from his rest. Baranor admiring his new sword looked at the hilt once more and realized that the rune that was engraved into the center looked quite familiar with the one that was engraved into his old one.

'Hmm, that's quite strange? A rune of unbending edge? I thought only experienced rune smiths could do something like that?' Baranor thought to himself as he inspected the sword further

Finding nothing too much out of the ordinary other than the rune, Baranor decided to get some practice with his new weapons. Starting with his new sword he practiced his sword stance and let some his mana flow into the new sword, Seeing it flow so smooth and eagerly, Baranor found the sword to his liking. Practicing for an hour and a half Baranor picked up the newly acquired bow which was simply made of a thick piece of black wood, He started practicing just shooting targets into the tree and retrieving the arrows once he ran out, this continued on for a while until he got the hang of his new bow and settled down. Baranor satisfied with his weapons albeit disappointed he didn't have a higher amount of arrows as a few of them broke during practice.

Once morning broke Talon woke up with a yawn as the uneventful night passed by and Baranor sitting there leaning on the side of Talon. Baranor seeing his large furry companion awake looked toward the already active and rather hyper ghoul krul and decided to follow his new companion to the closest area it's kind has spotted humans or at least a different life form. Arriving to a small clearing which seemed to have the remnants of an old fire, Baranor searched the area seeing blood stains and a few rotting bodies of ghouls and a trial which seemed to be the dragging of the poor victims body. Baranor not thinking about the topic for too long kept marching forward mentally marking out all the places he explored within a 20 mile radius.

Baranor continued this all day until it reached night and he could visibly see Talon and Crebain tired, deciding to let them rest for the night he called for a few ghouls who were set up in a nearby nest to watch over them for the night. When morning hit they continued until they found a relatively recent one, A carriage broken down and ravaged yet not by ghoul scratches or burns but by blades and what looked like to be brute force, yet it was a brutal display as their was blood all over the ground which left a small trail and visible organs on the ground as if someone was ripped in two.

"Damn! Who or whatever did this left one nasty piece of work" Baranor said to himself

Baranor looked at the way the trail lead to, deeper into the forest where he has yet to explore, which was surprisingly a blind spot for his ghouls as if they avoided this place. Although Baranor knew it would be a bad idea to blindly follow the trail, he still did it as he knew he had enough power to stand up against whatever destroyed the carriage. Continuing through the forest Baranor followed the trail until he started to hear something rather large move around, halting his steps, Baranor dropped down low into a bush while Talon and Crebain followed in suit. When Baranor saw what it was he made a surprised but worried face about what it was.

It was an orc, luckily it was a regular orc and not uruk hai as it was still weakened greatly by the sun, however an orc was still a bad sign as it could mean infestation as they had high breeding rates and could grow nearly three times as fast as a regular human could. Meaning a regular orc was at their adult size at around 6-10 years depending on how large and what type of orc it was, either way it was still a bad thing their was one relatively close to the edge of the forest. The orc it questioned wasn't wearing any armor or had any special equipment, it simply held a crude iron mace and draped in a cloth while wandering around in the forest.

"Damn Cross-breeds! If they were affected by the sun i could've easily have ripped his head off!" The orc said

Baranor watching the orc and hearing it complain about half breeds had his face darken...

'So their are Uruk hai then' Baranor thought to himself although worried he was prepared

Baranor told Talon and Crebain to retreat back to where the carriage they found was and wait for him while also telling Crebain to summon a few packs of ghouls just in case. Baranor trailing the orc further and silently watching it from a distance, he found some interesting things from its rambles one of them being that this was a orc slave, as the uruk hai has apparently enslaved all the orcs due to their superior strength and resistance to the sun. A regular orc was said to have enough strength to easily overpower a regular person but when it came to a trained warrior it would be even footing, but uruk hai were said to be even stronger requiring an experienced warrior to be able to take them down, in simple terms orcs were of tier-2 and uruk hai of tier-3.

Baranor watched as this orc hunted for his prey until nightfall arrived and it believed itself to be finally rid of it's problems including the sun as it made its way back to it's residence, little did it know it's problem's were simply beginning. The orc walked quite a distance back and was nearing its village to where Baranor could see smoke rising, Baranor making his move jumped down from a nearby tree and and stabbed his dagger into the orcs neck making it unable to even make a sound as its body dropped to the ground. Baranor looking at the smoke in the sky quickly hid the orcs body and made his way towards it. Once Baranor arrived close enough to see some form of a settlement he saw a small wooden compound with 2 gates on opposite sides.

Baranor crept closer slowly but surely, just enough to see the front gate a little closer and see the 2 guards standing on either side clad in black armor with spikey tower shields and tall spears. Baranor watched as slowly but surely all the orcs who were out and about were coming back one nearly caught Baranor off guard, however Baranor was swift enough to kill it in time. Baranor decided to wait until the lights in the camp eventually went off which was a while as he could hear the cheers and fights the orcs had every few minutes. When all was quite and all that remain was the guards who would switch out every few hours or so, Baranor decided to take a little sneak peak into the compound.

Baranor sneaked up to the crude wall and threw a handmade rope made up of natural fibers over the 10 foot wall and yanked on it hoping for it to catch onto something, unfortunately for Baranor this took a few tries, however he eventually succeeded and climbed to the top of the wall and had his lower body dangling. When Baranor looked inside the camp he was disgusted and surprised at the orcs brutality.
