As Juan and I stepped out of the sleek, black car, the night air of SanCasas city hall wrapped around us like a cool embrace.It felt like the entire city had come to a standstill just to attend the contest. The atmosphere was electric; people from near and far had traveled just to witness the prestigious Miss SanCasas contest. His hand found mine, guiding it to rest on his arm as we walked. Around us, The flashing cameras and the bright lights immediately enveloped us, creating a moment that felt like it was lifted straight from a movie scene. Lined up behind us was a convoy of cars, each one carrying Juan's men who had driven from above to be here tonight, a testament to the lengths he would go to ensure my safety.
