Rina and Candice had decided to take on the bulk of the ravids and as time progressed Rina levelled up once more and all her stats recovered, including her mana. She could hear the bangs coming from the direction that Jordan and the colossal ravid were battling.
"Do you think he can defeat it?" she asked Candice who was slicing up ravids with her dagger. She was moving exceptionally fast. Only Candice could understand how frustrated she was. She had almost died and worst of all the was nothing that she could do.
So when the threat was gone she decided to take her frustrations out on the remaining ravids. She jumped up in the air and kicked out with her leg. Her kick landed on a ravid's head and it was sent flying away having died fromt he blunt force that had destroyed part of its skull and destroyed its brain.
Shortly after she ducked her body low and swept another off its floor using her legs causing it to fall to the floor on its back. Candice then thrust her dagger straight through its chest where the heart would be, killing it instantly.
"You want to go help him don't you?" she answered back.
Rina nodded.
"Fine go I think can manage here. Besides I don't think I can be of much help there but I will keep theses guys off your back" Candice said.
"Thank you" Rina shouted as she ran forward. When she got out of the alley she could see the small craters formed on the road and whatsmore she could even see the large hole in the wall of the building next door where she could still here the sounds of fighting going on.
She hurriedly went inside and could now see Jordan standing infront of the ravid with his arms crossed and she could also see the state the ravid was in. It was kneeling on one knee and it was bleeding from the side of its head and the skin that was on its chest seemed to be cracked a little bit.
'He actually managed to do that much?' Rina was shocked as she had experienced how terrifying the ravid was. However she didn't miss the fact that the red aura that was surrounding Jordan's body was getting dimmer by the second so she could only only guess that it was due to the skill's duration coming to an end.
"Let me help you" she said and ran to Jordan's front. She took an even deeper breath than before as she released her cry. Sonic waves travelled throught the air in the shape of a tunnel.
However before the attack could land a transparent blue wall formed in front of the ravid and when Rina's attack made contact with the shield it did nothing but disappeared.
'So it really is like that huh' Jordan thought to himself. The ravid roared and tried to get back on its two legs but it fell back to the ground.
"Rina on my signal you attack with your sonic beam once more" Jordan said as he had a plan somewhat.
"What but you can see what it did right?" Rina said
"Yeah that's exactly the reason" Jordan said as he ran in once again.
The ravid could see him coming and when he was close enough it roared as it pounded both of its fists in his direction. Jordan however timing it right, side stepped causing the attack to land on the ground. At the same time though the ravid's arms was quite thick so much so that Jordan jumped on it and begun to run up its forearm.
Using it's other arm, the ravid tried to wack him away however the latter lowered his body and slipped underneath it. It didn't long for Jordan to reach its shoulder and then he jumped off and landed directly behind it.
"Now!" he shouted and taking that as the signal Rina released her sonic cry once more and a large tunnel of concentrated sound beams launched in its direction. The ravid looked behind it for moment. It looked at the human behind it and considering that it had already clashed with the small human and had won in a battle of strength, then there wasn't much it could do in the next few seconds.
Coming to that decision, the ravid turned its head forward and focused on Rina's sound attack. It summoned up its shield once more and the transparent blue wall appeared infront of it defending it from Rina's attack.
Jordan seeing this was slightly relieved. 'Now for the final part while it's distracted'
Jordan jumped up and readied his fist. Small streaks of lightning ran up the surface of his gauntlets and using all his the strength he could summon he punch forward. He didn't aim for the head this time.
His attack landed and with it followed a powerful and loud explosion that sent smoke flying in all directions. The smoke completely covered both Jordan and the ravid such that Rina couldn't see them for a couple of moments.
Silence slowly filled the room. And the tension was high for Rina as she stood still and waited for the smoke to clear.
After what felt like an eternity, the smoke begun to clear up.
Soon a large figure could be seen standing up straight and a growl resounded throughout the building. Jordan coughed up a mouthful of blood as he staggered backwards. The skill had worn off and though the ravid had taken a critical hit it as there was a large open wound at the back of its neck that was sipping out blood, it wasn't dead.
Jordan cursed his luck as the ravid locked its gaze on him. The ravid moved fast, well in Jordan's eyes it was fast after all, all his stats had been reduced by 30 points and the injuries he had received before were taking a heavy toll on him. Before he could even react, the ravid was already in front of him and with its large hand it held him by the throat and squeezed.
Jordan tried to fight back and struggle but it was useless, the ravid was simply too strong for him in his current state. Soon he could feel his wind pipe being blocked. Jordan wheezed as he tried to breath but he couldn't, not when he was being held up like so.
Jordan tried to think. Think of anything that could help him out of this situation but the lack of oxygen was now starting to affect him and as his vision blurred a fear started to creep. It was a fear that all beings feel at any one point in their lives.
The fear of death.
Jordan's like flashed before his eyes. He remembered the times he was happy, the times he was sad. He remembered every little thing that held a large degree of importance in his life. His friends, family which he didn't even know how they were doing till now and then he remembered something.
Something that he had but he rarely used it at all.
Using the last bits of consciousness that he had Jordan used his mana for the second time since the start of this apocalypse. Underneath his gauntlets on his left forefinger a ring lay there but not just any ring. It was the Earthen ring.
Jordan although he couldn't see it he could feel the ring activate as it consumed part of his mana. The ravid seemed to sense that something wasn't right and when it was about to crush Jordan's neck something shot up from the ground. It was a long spike that seemed to be made of harden earth. Its pointed end shot upwards and it was incredibly fast.
It pierced right through the back of the ravid's neck through the open wound and part of it even penetrated to the front as blood was dripping off it.
Jordan felt the ravid's grip lose strength and as he fell to floor but he didn't miss the notification that flashed in his retina.
[Congratulations you have received the soul essence of a level 20 Colossal ravid
You have received Strength +15, Stamina +10, Mana +5, Health +10]
[You have leveled up…

[You have leveled up to level 14. You get 2 stats to distribute freely]
Jordan got up from the floor and sat up. He was taking in deep breaths as if they were his last.
Rina as well as Candice who had also contributed somewhat to the battle also received some essence from the colossal ravid and although it was a small amount it was pure enough to push up a level and get some extra stats. Jordan subconsciously rubbed his neck as it felt sore. But he couldn't keep his eyes off the floor. Where he could see two colored treasure orbs.
