How could Candice not recognize Damien? He had been there when she had first approached the 'Tiger's Den' as the Tiger gang leader, Jace, had called it so she was fully aware of how much of a scum he was like his boss and although she could feel that his level was lower than her own Damien still gave her the feeling of danger and onto of that he had a small legion of people with guns capable of piercing through cars like they were pieces of paper! There was no way that she could defile bullets at with her current strength it just wasn't realistic.
In an instant that blooming hope that help had arrived no matter how small it was had been snuffed out. It was another reminder to Candice that the world had been flipped on its head.
From the roof top above Candice, Damien's smile widened. His eyes gave off a slight yellow glow that couldn't be noticed because of the sunlight but if you paid attention you could see it. Through his eyes he could see the auras of people, mutant animals and plants; basically anything that had mana within it. It resembled the shape of blue flames; the bigger the flames, the more the mana . In a way it was had become Damien's way of gauging his opponents and usually the bigger the flame, the higher the mana that a being contained and the stronger they were though this wouldn't always be accurate but that would only come to light in the later stages of evolution.
Damien could see that Candice's mana was so dim that it was comparable to a match flame, a slight blow of wind and it would be put out. Even though Candice's mana reserves were way larger than normal due to her talent she had been using her mana constantly for the half hour since the encounter with the colossal ravid and its pack so of course her mana would be extremely low.
Regardless of these reasons, Damien only cared for the fact that she was in a weakened state and that he could trample her…and that was more than enough.
He leapt from the top of the building. Damien was confident in his strength. His knees jerked and bent slightly when he landed on the ground below placing him directly in front of Candice who had been forced to close her eyes from the dust released from Damien's landing.
He stood up straight, towering over Candice with his 6'6 inches of height and his bulky figure. His grin still remained on his face as he looked down on her. Candice could only look up to him. Her caramel colored eyes glistening with a blazing fury.
Damien had been there when Jace tried to take advantage of her and he hadn't even done anything to stop him, in fact it seemed as though Damien had been looking at her with a gaze as lecherous as his. To see him suddenly appear here and just when she was at her weakest point?
It certainly wasn't a coincidence at all
[Author's note: Jace is the current head of the Tiger Gang]
"You and I both know that I could kill you right now if I wanted to" Damien said. His voice deep and almost grating to her ears.
Candice didn't say anything. Instead opting to thrust forward with her dagger. Given how close Damien was to her, standing at about ten centimeters from her. Reacting to such a sudden attack should have been impossible regardless of how high Damien's level was compared to her's.
However, to Candice's dismay, not only did Damien react in time, it seemed as though he could somehow predict what her next move would be. Before she could even thrust upward with her arm she felt a large fist directly slam into her gut.
The blow was so strong that her body bent forward like a bow. Mouthfuls of blood spilled from her mouth, her vision spinning as though she would lose consciousness at any moment. Her knees weakened and fell to the ground.
Damien looked at her and he sneered. Disdain written all over his face.
"Get up bitch" he said as he dug his fingers into her black hair, pulling hard. Candice let out a short cry as she was forced to look up. Damien only seemed to pull harder the pain spiking up.
Candice could only grit her teeth and stand on wobbly knees. Her weakness becoming more and more apparent.
"Good. Now you're coming with me got it?" he practically growled. At this point the other ten gang members with the guns were currently making their way down the roof through the building. When they came down, they would finally leave this forsaken world and return to their hide out, sleep in comfortable beds and eat as much as he wanted. The only thing Damien lamented was not having a beauty to warm his bed tonight.
That was when another thought crossed his mind. Wasn't there another beauty besides Candice? A smile played on his lips. Maybe today wouldn't be so bad at all.
Candice heart was pumping. She didn't want to face Jace as she was currently. If she was going to meet that bastard then she would be there to bring to bring him hell and not as a woman to warm his bed. A new determination shone in her eyes. It wasn't over just yet.
Candice tried to summon the last of her mana from within as she tried to activate a skill. A sharp pain suddenly assaulted her left cheek, she felt her world spin and all of her focus she had broke. The mana she had been trying to summon disappeared into nothingness. At that point her face a ghostly pale and the mental fatigue she felt hit her like a truck. She couldn't even resist as her vision blackened.
Damien looked on coldly as Candice lost consciousness after he slapped her with all his strength. Her cheek was swelled and red but Damien didn't care about that as long as she was alive. He lifted her up and over his shoulder, her arms and head dangling to his back as her plump ass faced forward.
Even Damien couldn't help it as his arm shot forward to lightly slap one of her ass cheeks. He watched in awe as it rippled from the slight contact. It was a sight that would make any healthy male and maybe even female nose bleed.
'Too bad the boss has his eyes…eye on you' Damien lamented internally. But the thought of Jace being wounded in his one eye gave Damien some thought.
What if he fought Jace in his current state? Wouldn't he come out on top?
As soon as the thought came was as quickly as the thought went. How could he go against Jace as he was now? Even with Jace having half of his vision crippled, Damien still couldn't see himself winning. Jace was just too strong for him and when it came to combat no one was as creative and adaptative as Jace was even before the apocalypse descended.
Damien could only sigh. 'I should just probably find another beauty or wait until Jace is fed up'
Shaking off his thoughts, Damien looked forward once more and he walked out of the alley stepping over the bodies of numerous ravids. When he stepped out into the street however just across he saw a bloodied young man with a slightly bulky figure wearing what appeared to be a bronze colored armor. Currently he was being supported by a stunning beauty with golden hair and a stunning beauty with golden hair and a stunning beauty with golden hair and deep crystal blue eyes.
It only took a moment for Damien to recognize the both of them but he was certain that the young man never had the armor he was wearing a moment ago.
Of course these two were none other than Jordan and Rina.
