Chapter 14 - The Loud Roar From The Sky

Damon dressed and fixed himself to look decent. He stared at himself in the mirror and couldn't help but feel his heart torn apart upon seeing Alfie's face.

"This is my new life now, huh… I should thank Alfie for giving me a physical body and a weapon," Damon whispered sadly, mourning for Alfie's death.

After a few seconds, a smirk appeared on Damon's lips. "That means I can do whatever I desire, hehe~" he added.

Damon remembered his dreams about being extraordinary in a world where people would look up to him, not as a saint, but as someone they would fear.

"Ah~ must be nice to see them trembling in my presence," Damon whispered as he started daydreaming.

"Damon, food ready!" Ignis stated outside. She had been knocking for a while, but there was no response. She didn't want to open the door, fearing that Damon would be naked again.

"Coming!" Damon replied and ran up to the door.

The early breakfast was held at the back of the headquarters, where several knights partake in cooking.

The atmosphere was carefree and full of laughter.

"Hi everyone! We are here!" Ignis beamed and waved at her fellow knights. "This is little Damon," she introduced.

Damon's brow twitched after being called 'little', but he sucked it up. He gave a small wave but spoke no words.

"Aww, he's adorable," the knights complimented and gestured for Damon to sit beside them.

There was a long table on the side to which they sat. Only two female knights, including Ignis, and the rest were males.

Damon stared above. The moon was still there, but the sky started to get brighter.

"Is it… morning?" Damon asked in shock. He thought it was still late at night.

"Yes, it's five in the morning," Ignis replied with a yawn.

"Did you even sleep?" Damon whispered, realizing that Ignis was out in the forest that early.

"Haha! Well, it's not usually my duty time, but I got reports of Pooka's camps, so I went there as early as possible," Ignis replied proudly, even though her face showed she lacked sleep.

Damon nodded in understanding. He wondered if the people of Acedia were all that hardworking.

"Our Acting Headmaster is the hardworking one. I never see her leave the office," Josh, one of the knights, stated, and the rest agreed.

Damon remained silent and listened to their conversation, which surrounded their jobs as knights. The food that arrived later consisted of eggs, bacon and bread. He was given a side of warm milk as well.

"Do you want to stroll the city after?" Ignis asked after remembering her promise to Damon.

"Uh, I want to sleep," Damon replied shortly. He felt tired and didn't get a single sleep. All he wanted was to lay in bed without thinking of any problem.

"Alright, I might be busy later since I'll scout the forest again. There's a library inside the headquarters that you can use," Ignis instructed so Damon had something to do while she was gone.

"Okay," Damon nodded. He took a bite of the bacon, and its taste nearly made him cry.

After being unable to eat for days, Damon felt the ecstasy the food brought to his taste buds. His face showed the joy he felt while eating, making the knights chuckle at his cuteness and forming a bond between them.

When Damon finished eating, he returned to his room and slumped into his bed. He wanted to sleep, but he was too full.

"The Dragon might still be waiting for me," Damon whispered in concern. He promised to bring the creature food but failed to do so.

Damon was about to stand up when he felt lightheaded, and his body collapsed into the bed. His vision started to get blurry, and it didn't take long before he lost consciousness.

Before Ignis went to work, she checked Damon in concern since she was responsible for his well-being. A smile appeared on her lips after seeing him lying in bed while breathing heavily.

"What a cute little boy," Ignis whispered, tucking Damon with a blanket. Her eyes glanced around the room and noticed his sword was nowhere to be seen. She panicked, thinking someone had stolen it.

Ignis hurriedly went out and asked several knights if they had seen a black sword, but none saw it. After fifteen minutes, she set off to the forest to do her job while mentally taking note to ask Damon about his sword.

The sun rose in the sky, and the people began doing their usual daily jobs and adventures. It was another peaceful day until something disturbed the atmosphere.

Clouds turned grey, and the sunlight vanished. The wind grew strong, and several areas were hit by a tornado.

The people in the city took notice of the sudden change. Fear and worry started growing in their hearts as the storm directly approached them.

A loud roar was heard, and a three-paid wings were seen in the sky, covered by thick, grey clouds.

"Ah!!! We are under attack!!!"

The citizens screamed and ran away, taking shelter in their homes and hoping it would protect them.

The nearby Knights of Hippotades were summoned back into the city to look at the situation. There were no attacks yet, but the growing threat was concerning.

Lady Saorsa went out of the headquarters to glimpse what creature was responsible for the sudden change. It took several minutes before she became familiar with what it was.

"I can't believe it," Saorsa muttered in shock. Her hands covered her mouth as she didn't expect that to happen.

"Do you see what I see?" Elysia, a librarian and a friend to Saorsa, went beside her. She knew at first glance what creature it was.

"The Dragon of the Wind is back!" Saorsa looked at Elysia with amazement. After all, it meant their sovereign protector returned, and their Nation would be fully protected again.

But a loud, raging roar from the Dragon might change their perception.
