Chapter 15 - Overshadow Teleportation

Multiple tornados appeared around the city and destroyed several stores with fragile infrastructures.

The people's scream grew louder as they desperately ran for their lives while others tried to save their business materials that were blown away.

The Knights of Hippotades couldn't do anything but watch as the Dragon soared in the sky. They were in awe but anxious at the same time, wondering what was the reason for the Dragon's violent reaction toward the city.

"Knights! Assist the citizens toward safety inside the Cathedral!" Saorsa instructed, and the knights followed immediately.

"What should we do, Lady Saorsa," Elysia asked in concern while staring into the sky.

"We can't do anything against the Dragon. We must take defence first and investigate later," Saorsa commanded before helping the other citizens struggling to walk due to the strong winds that kept sucking them backwards.

The Dragon of the Wind kept roaring and encircling around the city. After twenty minutes, it flew away and vanished into the clouds.

During that time, Damon woke up from the noise but considered it normal until he heard a loud roar. That made him sit up immediately, and goosebumps emerged on his skin.

Damon hurriedly looked outside the window and glimpsed what was currently happening, but he didn't get out. He knew if he did, the Dragon would land in the city to take him, and that would cause more riots from the public.

Aside from that, Damon didn't want anyone to know his connection to the Dragon. He waited until the creature left and sighed in relief.

"Ah, the Dragon must be pissed at me for taking so long… but why does it know I'm here?" Damon muttered to himself. Cold sweat appeared on his forehead with the thought he upset the Dragon.

"I must return immediately," Damon whispered in determination. He made his bed before peeking outside, only to see an empty hall.

Damon didn't know if he was thankful or not that the Knights forgot about his existence during the calamity. He went straight into Saorsa's office, which remained unlocked and wrote a letter addressing his gratitude for their kind gestures.

After being satisfied, Damon folded the letter and placed it at the center. He left using the back door to prevent anyone from seeing him.

"I should use this opportunity," Damon muttered, running as fast as he could, but all he saw was a long line of tall brick walls surrounding the city.

Since the Dragon of the Wind was no longer there. The citizens calmed down, but the Knights were still roaming around to ensure no one was harmed.

Damon frowned. "They're such a responsible knight," he whispered while walking stealthily. He was amazed, but it brought him hardship.

As Damon got closer to the entrance, a figure blocked his path. He looked up and saw a tall, beautiful woman standing before him.

"Where are you going, little cutie?" Elysia stated with a grin. She had been monitoring the damages when she saw Damon slink around.

"Ah!…" Damon was taken aback. He didn't expect to be caught that early. "I want to find my sister and ensure she's okay," he explained in a lie.

Damon made sure he sounded confident enough and acted normally, as if he was one of the citizens of Acedia.

"Hmm," Elysia hummed. She felt a weird aura from Damon, but she couldn't point it out. She didn't suspect further since he wore regular clothes as a commoner.

"Be safe out there," Elysia added before turning her back to leave.

"Wait!" Damon grabbed Elysia's skirt to stop her.

For Damon, Elysia didn't look like she was one of the knights and could trust her without getting involved in a much bigger organization.

"Do you need something?" Elysia asked with a raised brow.

"C-can you help me get some meat?" Damon stated sternly. He gulped while waiting for a reply.

Damon wanted to dig his own grave for asking a stranger, whom he didn't even know the name. He was still too weak to hunt and didn't want to wait for Ignis since that would only cause another problem and prolong his stay in the city.

"Sure, since you're a cute one," Elysia replied, holding her palm before Damon.

Damon was hesitant but accepted. He held Elysia's hand and let himself be dragged to an empty market.

"The owners fled to the Cathedral for safety, but we can grab some meat for you, and we'll pay them there," Elysia explained. She planned to bring Damon to the Cathedral since it was still dangerous to lurk outside when another attack was possible.

Elysia didn't say her intentions out loud after seeing Damon's attempt to escape and forcing him might cause trouble.

"I don't have money," Damon replied immediately. He looked up at Elysia's face and noticed her fake smile. That made him lose trust that she might be hiding her real intentions.

Damon had lived in isolation back on Earth, making him highly observant of the people around him, including whether they tell the truth or not.

"That won't be a problem. I can pay for you, but you need to be the one to give them the money," Elysia said, bringing her purse and giving Damon several coins.

Damon accepted the coins since he needed them. Then he picked a massive chunk of meat.

"Thank you," Damon replied and gave his brightest smile, which seemed effective due to how innocent he looked.

"Mhmm, that's good!" Elysia clasped her hands together in delight. She thought it would be hard to convince Damon, but it went smoothly.

Elysia turned her back and started walking, glancing back to ensure Damon was following behind. "Tell me, where are your parents?" she asked, starting a conversation.

"They're dead," Damon replied. He pursed his lips as he remembered his mother and wondered how she was doing.

That question brought extreme sadness to Damon, and he felt his energy depleted instantly. He stopped walking and stared at Elysia's figure, moving away from him.

Damon knew he couldn't escape that easily and needed a plan.

"Maya, show me the Overshadow skill list," Damon muttered. Multiple screens appeared in his vision that only he could see. He clicked a skill, and it emerged in his hand like a card.

"Overshadow Teleportation. Activate!" Damon whispered and flicked the card, which vanished along with his figure in the air.

"Huh? Activate what? I was asking if you live…. alone," Elysia turned around after hearing Damon's faint voice, but when she did, Damon was nowhere to be found.
