Alvin walked back into the room and sat on the bed, a safe distance from the sleeping Annabelle. He closed his eyes and began to doze.
Suddenly, his eyes flickered open, and they had turned a striking golden hue. As he blinked, they returned to their normal sea-blue color.
He turned to glance behind him and found Annabelle still sleeping in the same position he had left her.
He let out a sigh and rubbed his hands over his face before moving closer to her. He gently placed his hands on her neck, checking her body temperature.
Just as he was about to move away, he felt her arms wrap around him.
Turning back to her, he noticed that she was still sleeping, but her arms were tightly wrapped around him. A faint smile appeared on his face but vanished almost instantly.
Annabelle's body felt unusually hot, despite the rainy and chilly weather outside.
