Chapter 20 - An arrow at his crotch

She glared at him and muttered some inaudible things that he couldn't hear because she only moved her lips as though she said something, knowing how keen the hearing skills of werewolves could be.

"And I told you that it was an insult. I'm seventeen, I'll soon be turning eighteen, so stop telling me such things," she complained.

"You'll soon be turning eighteen? That's good to know, so say it," he dared her.

"I shot an arrow at him.... Alvin, why should I say it?" she asked with a pout, turning to him with a frown forming on her face.

"Say it," he said, his gaze turning serious, making it obvious to her that he wasn't joking.

"I'll say it when the sun has risen, right I need to sleep," she said and removed his hands from her slender curvy waist, before she walked away from him.

He pulled her back, and she yelped, falling into his arms, but then her eyes locked with his.

"Annabelle, are you normal? Weren't you taught any biology related course?" He asked out of frustration. He was trying to help her, but she wasn't trying to help herself.

"I wasn't," she replied gently, knowing he wasn't pleased.

"But you studied zoology?" he asked further, arching a brow.

"Alvin let me go already. I said I'll say it tomorrow, I promise," she said and tried standing up, but he wouldn't let her, it was impossible.

"Why do you think I'll let you go, little stubborn mate?" he said, which made her scared. She finally escaped his grasp and tried retracting her steps backward, but he pulled her to himself, wrapping his hands around her waist.

Within a blink of an eye, he teleported with her, and she found herself on the bed.

"H.. how did you do that?" she asked in fear. He was now hovering over her, and his pupils had dilated into dark shades of blue and gold.

"Annabelle if you don't say it, I'll do something you won't like," he said, his eyes on her dress front zipper, knowing the exact thing he could use to threaten her.

"Are you going to kill me?" she asked in fear, which made him ruffle his hair.

"Just say it now."

"I have my Human Rights, Alvin. You can't force me into doing what I don't want to," she said with a trembling voice.

"Since you've forgotten that you're no longer in your human world, I'll remind you. Watch me," he said and held her dress zipper.

"Alvin stop," she said and tried pushing off his hands from her zipper, but in a swift moment, it unzipped to its ending point, even loosening from its lock, exposing her smooth belly and belly button, cleavage, and part of her breast.

She gasped, covering herself, while he tilted his head to the other direction, giving her some privacy. He hadn't done it intentionally.

"I'll tear your dress into shreds if you don't say it," he threatened, turning back to her after noticing that she was trying to crawl away from him, and she swallowed hard.

"Why do you want me to say it?"

"Because I don't want you to be too innocent, Annabelle. You're making things difficult for me, I didn't wish for this," he replied, closing his eyes in thought.

"I'm not innocent, so I'll say it, just hold on and don't do anything," she said quickly before he would totally pull her dress apart. He was serious, only his eyes could tell.

"I shot the arrow at his…." She trailed off, biting her bottom lip.

"You can't say it."

As he spoke, she saw a flicker of hurt in his eyes, but it immediately disappeared.

"I'll say it now, I'm serious, just hear me out. I mean in the dungeon or no, torture room, Alpha Alvin was tutoring me on how to shoot an arrow, and my target was supposed to be the right knee of a rogue wolf but instead I almost killed Emily's mate. I wonder how she'll react when she hears that. And in my second trial, I shot the chest box. And in my third trial, I shot the crotch, the exact private part of a wolf man," she said, smiling virtuously at him.

"Seriously? Computer head, I didn't tell you to narrate everything that happened," he said, staring down at her in disbelief.

"So I said it, right? I'm the best zoologist in my class."

"No, you didn't," he said, which made her eyes widened.

"Annabelle, you are driving me nuts," he said, his eyes turning back to their normal sea blue color, looking exhausted.

He laid his head on the chest of his mate, due to how exhausted he suddenly became, but she became stiff, and he could no longer hear the sound of her heartbeat.

"Are you a manikin?" he asked, and she shook her head.

"Then breathe," he commanded.

"Your head is on my chest, how would you expect me to breathe properly?" she grumbled inaudibly. She hadn't expected him to hear it but he heard.

He raised his head from her chest, sparing a glance at her, before he went off her so she could leave.

It was better she leaves his room because he wasn't in his right senses, so he could do anything to her. Something was off about him, and he knew it.

But he still needed her; her presence could help him calm the raging powers within him, which were making him feel odd.

She got up from the bed and walked towards the couch and sat down, before laying on it, facing the other direction from him.

"Annabelle, aren't you leaving?" he asked, watching her from where he sat.

With a shake of her head, she remained silent, her eyes closed, and breathing softly, drifting into sleep.

"Then come here," he said, patting the other side of the bed.

Staring at him and the side of the bed he had patted, she shook her head in disapproval, before closing her eyes back.

"Annabelle, you know I won't hurt you. Come here," he said, making her sit up, groaning from the interruptions of her sleep, but she didn't approach him.

"Your pupils dilated into blue and gold color. You also teleported from the couch to the bed, are you sure you are okay? I'm supposed to be freaking out right now, but I'm taking things casually. I think I'm the one getting crazy; I'm losing my sanity," she complained, rubbing her hands together.

She knew she had lost her sanity; she wasn't sane.

"The golden color of my pupils is my wolf part, and teleporting is a normal thing for me. Besides, that was how I saved you on the day you fought with that rogue wolf. And you think casually about all this because you are my mate. You haven't lost your sanity."

"So.. now come here and help me calm this wolf in me before it comes out," he said, using his hands to gesture towards her.

"Is it gonna go berserk if it comes out?" she asked, her eyes widening as she walked towards him.

"I don't know," he replied, shifting and creating space for her to sit beside him.

"So, what can I do to help?"

"Let's just cuddle," he said, making her raise a brow at him.

"Cuddle, how would that help?"

"Your scent," he answered, pulling her to himself, cuddling, before covering them with the duvet.

"This is the most awkward thing I've ever done," she grumbled, feeling the eruption of butterflies when he snuggled his face into the crook of her neck.

"You'll get used to it, don't worry," he whispered, a feeling of ease washing over him, and he closed his eyes.

"What if I don't want to get used to it?" she asked, and wanted to turn to him, but he held her in place.

"Miss, I haven't slept for some time now, so can you please stop talking?" he said with his eyes closed, while she was taken aback by the unexpected title. But it still made her cheeks turn red.

"It's almost daybreak, won't you go out today?"

"No. I don't think I'll leave this room today. And since you can't sleep, I'll make you sleep," he said, and began uttering inaudible words, his exhaustion obvious in his voice.

Before she could protest or argue, dizziness washed over her, her eyes feeling too heavy to be left open, and began blurring until it fluttered close.

"So vulnerable," he muttered under his breath, his gaze meeting her full red lips, and he placed a kiss on her nape where she had his mark.

He picked up his phone from the bed, and after staring at the caller's ID, he glanced at his sleeping mate, before he covered her with the duvet and walked out of the room.
