Opening his eyes, their gazes met, but she immediately looked away. He watched her, while she kept fiddling with her fingers.
"Annabelle, did you reject me?"
Upon hearing his question, she glanced at him through her hair that had fallen over her face, and she nodded.
"No, you didn't," he replied, making her squint at him.
"Yes, I did," she said, eyes still squinted and stopped fiddling.
"That wasn't a rejection, Annabelle, and besides, you can't reject an Alpha because he won't approve your request of wanting to reject him."
"Are you trying to tell me that I need your permission before I can reject you?" she asked, nodding sluggishly as though deep in thought.
She then climbed out of the bed slowly, knelt before him with her head bent to the floor as she spoke.
"Alpha, I have a mate I want to reject, so can you please grant me your permission to be able to reject him," she said with all seriousness as she knelt on the floor.
"Give me a good reason why you want to reject him?" he asked, amused by her every move and noticed the uneasiness she had in providing him with her reasons.
Since half of the bond has been completed, he could feel her displeasure, read her thoughts, and know when she's telling the truth or not.
Normally, as an Alpha, he could do that to anyone apart from her: his mate.
"He abducted me," she said in a low tone, but he heard her with his werewolf hearing ability.
"Werewolves abducting their human mate is not something new; it has been occurring even before you were born. You can't walk up to a human and be like: I am a werewolf and you are my mate, so I want you to come with me to my world. No human would ever accept to do that," he said, staring into her eyes that were already gazing back at him.
"What if I would?" She immediately asked, a guilty smile settling on her lips.
"Shut up, Annabelle, there is no way you would follow a supernatural being into his world," he said before closing his eyes and relaxing back on his couch.
"Since you aren't ready to tell me the reason why you want to reject me, could you go to the kitchen and help the maids prepare breakfast for the pack?"
"Okay, I will tell you," she said, tying her hair into a ponytail.
"I don't know if you could understand me," she began, "but the thing is that I never wanted a mate. Even when living with my kind, I never wanted a boyfriend, not even to dream of having a soul mate. I don't like all these."
"And you are neither a lesbian?" he said with his eyes still closed. Deep down, he was already frustrated. How could he make her understand? Wasn't she matured enough to start having feelings?
She was being too ignorant, and he was tired of it. She was now grounded in the mansion and couldn't leave, because that's the only way he could keep her safe. His Beta had asked to ground her in her room since she caused trouble.
Grounding her in a room would be too cruel since she likes outings, and it'll only make her hatred towards him intensify. He was only trying to keep her safe.
"I am not, I just want to live a free and single life until I die," she said, spreading her hands out in the air with a wide smile on her face.
Her smiles faded away when she heard him scoff.
"Seriously, Annabelle, then you aren't human," he said with a frown.
"Huh, I am a human and you aren't," she retorted, glaring daggers at him.
"You are odd," he murmured while observing her.
She was indeed breath taken as she knelt before him, and he was having a hard time living with her.
He wanted her to understand, and restrained himself from forcefully mating with her.
He was an Alpha, and all this was giving him a hard life. He could only wonder how long he'll be able to hold back because of this ignorant little lady.
Her kneeling in front of him was already a temptation. She was dressed in a long lacy black dress with numerous splits, and as she knelt before him, her smooth white glossy legs up to her mid thighs were exposed, but she seemed oblivious.
He looked away, avoiding not to stare at her exposed body because it would only make it difficult to resist her.
"There isn't any human that has been brought into a pack and found to be pure."
"How would you expect a human to be pure when they were created with the dirty soil?" she asked and scoffed.
He didn't expect her to have heard what he just said. He hadn't said it loud for her to hear. Only werewolves with their keen hearing abilities could have heard that. Maybe it could be because of the mark she has.
"You are so ignorant."
"Oh really? Then enlighten me," she said with her hands crossed over her chest.
"Annabelle, you are so immature to the extent that your senses of understanding are premature."
"That's an insult," she grumbled, getting pissed off.
"Actually I don't think it is. Let me enlighten you," he said and stood up from the sofa he was seated on, before he squatted before her.
Staring at her in the eyes, he spoke, "Annabelle, you are the first female human that has been found to be pure amongst all other humans that have been mated to werewolves. Before the humans are being found by their wolf mates, they've already lost their virginities, but you are still in your maidenhood."
"Shut up!" she said in embarrassment, turning away from him, but failed to see the smile that appeared on his face. It was now obvious to him that she was shy. The next step he'll take would be how to make her feel comfortable around him. He'll take the process gradually. He would just pamper his little mate.
"But you said I should enlighten you, don't you want to be enlightened anymore?" he asked with a smirk.
"I don't," she said, and as she looked down at herself, she discovered that she wasn't properly covered.
Pulling down her gown to cover her thighs, she stood up and quickly walked to the door, while he watched her retreating figure.
"Will you grant me my request or not?" she asked, about to open the door.
"Just leave, Annabelle," he said plainly.
"Then I will leave on my own because I have already rejected you," she said before walking out of the room. After the door closed behind her, he heaved a sigh of relief that she was finally away. Now he could rest and not be receiving unnecessary complaints.
He mindlinked his gammas not to let her out of the mansion, before he lay on his comfortable bed, his eyes closed, but he wasn't sleeping. That was how he rested, and he was completely aware of his surroundings.

Walking down the stairs, Annabelle joined the maids in the kitchen as they cooked.
She had planned on escaping when they went to the pack house to serve the pack members.
She learnt from the maids that it wasn't the whole pack they were serving. The pack was grouped differently since it was very large, and according to the ranks of the people.
It was those with the lowest ranks that could barely feed themselves that they were preparing the meals for.
"I am sorry Luna, but Alpha had instructed us not to let you leave," the leader of the gammas who was guarding the exit door of Alpha's house said, stopping her from leaving the mansion.
"Excuse me, it's my duty to serve the pack, so why am I not allowed to do so?" she asked with a frown. Her plans on escaping would be ruined if she wasn't able to pass through the door.
"I'm only following instructions, Luna. Alpha has his reasons," he replied and bowed before locking the door as the maids left with the foods they had prepared.
Gritting her teeth angrily at the two guards, she climbed up the stairs heading back to her room to have a word with their Alpha.
Banging the door shut after stepping into the room, she walked towards the bed where he was laid, and she sat on it beside him.
She had to do something to let him know that she was annoyed. How could she be grounded in this mansion? She needed freedom.
"But what should I do to you apart from killing you?" she asked him, knowing quite well that he couldn't hear her because he was sleeping.
She went down from the bed, and slowly tiptoed into the bathroom, knowing that his ears could pick up the slightest sound. But hasn't the way she had angrily closed the door woken him up already?
She ignored the thought and came out of the bathroom with a pail of water which she climbed up the bed with, and at the count of three, she poured everything on his face.
