Cassiel sighed deeply.
He roamed the castle for a while without a destination in mind, but in the end, there was something he needed to do.
The knight stopped in front of the duke's office, hesitating to go inside. From where he stood he could clearly hear the conversation, it looked like Nathaniel and Ophelia were having an argument.
He stepped to the side and leaned against the wall as he closed his eyes and waited. The last thing he wanted was to be pulled into some kind of quarrels. He didn't mean to eavesdrop, but his senses were enhanced so much that it was difficult to ignore.
"I don't even want to be here," Cassiel murmured with a sour face. He should have looked for Violet and cleared things with her first before coming to see Nathan. But remembering her frightened face as she remembered the events of last night and how she adamantly told herself that he was a mistake she wouldn't repeat again, he felt like part of him was slowly dying.
