"Thank you for saving us, Zicheng," She said to him with gratitude.
Sir Daric came forward too and gave him a bow, "We're in your debt, sir."
"I was just passing by, that is all," Zicheng replied with a smile.
Sir Daric accessed the situation while Athena spoke with Zicheng. Luckily, Wendy was unscathed, though a little shaken.
"This was most definitely a setup," Athena sighed.
Zicheng nodded in agreement.
"I think even some of the guards were in on it too," He added.
Athena bit her lip. She had a few enemies and she knew almost for certain who was behind this.
"They think getting me killed on the road would benefit them, but they couldn't be further from the truth," She muttered to herself.
"You know who would do such a thing to you?" Zicheng asked, his face full of worry.
Athena nodded, "Who else but the Queen herself? To ensure I would never cause trouble for her and her daughter ever again."
