In fights between strong opponents, your weapon will come in contact with their skin for only a fraction of a second so the fire almost does nothing.
The best it could do is intimidate inexperienced fighters but that's all it does. The only reason your halberd burnt my skin is because of the heat. It was the hot blade that burnt me and not the flames.
Flame enchantments are not that effective just like water and air. This only applies to low level magic so if you have spells of higher level, these elements show their potential. But even high tier spells of the fire element are constructed while keeping mass destruction in mind.
