Chapter 33 - Fifth Loop: Second Chance

Seth managed to kill the insects mercilessly, their bodies hollowed out with fatal wounds until their life cores dropped out in the form of green stones like jade gems. Three monsters were successfully killed by Seth. The man quickly picked up the shards of life with his right hand just before the other monsters arrived.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" said Joanna.

Seth's heart was pretty upset with Joanna; her appearance looked like a pro, but her heart was like a baby abandoned by her mother, so scared and indecisive.

Seth rolled his eyeballs, taking in his surroundings for a brief moment. He had to admit that he could not leave through the lobby, especially when the monsters had gathered in that place.

"What are we going to do?" asked Joanna, confused, with tears falling down her cheeks.

"I'm looking for a way to get out of here," Seth replied.

There was no way for the two to make their way back upstairs, let alone out into the lobby. The only option Seth could do was to shoot the wall at the emergency exit.

Leaning against the emergency door, Seth fired his laser pistol at the wall on the left. The wall shattered in ten shots, surprising Joanna, who didn't expect Seth's weapon to be able to destroy a building wall.

"Get outta there!" commanded Seth. Joanna cleared her throat.

The woman bravely stepped quickly away from the place to walk into the hole in the wall, Seth following behind after he kept some roaches from approaching him.

On the count of three, Seth ran towards the wall hole, firing several laser pistols backwards to keep the bugs from crawling up to the two.

"Where should we go?" asked Joanna.

"Keep running, and don't stop for anything!" said Seth.

The man was still focused on holding back the cockroach by shooting at it; none of Seth's shots were missed due to the large size of the insect. Joanna herself continued to run as fast as she could, her brackish voice trembling with fear and uncontrollable breathing, tired and panicked.

Not only did he pay attention to the area behind him, but Seth also continued to look towards the front, right and left sides. Realizing there was Joanna, who continued to scream in fear, made the roaches come closer, faster compared to the daytime.

"Stop screaming and be brave. Those bugs can sense a person's fear!" Seth said.

"Easy for you to say, I have trouble controlling my fear," Joanna said.

The two were now surrounded in the middle of the road, the night dark without light, with the red eyes of the insects approaching them. They continued to walk toward Seth and Joanna, who were now on their backs, facing away from each other.

"Am I going to die?" asked Joanna, her voice low with tears streaming down her face.

"Damn it, I can't find a way to escape!" groaned Seth, annoyed to find himself trapped among the insects.

Seth shouted loudly while shooting the insects one by one. The man handed Joanna a crossbow, telling her to at least be useful in this situation.

She seemed to be good at using the crossbow. The woman continued to shoot at the cockroaches that approached her quickly. Once fired, she reloaded with the available arrows until she also used an arrow with a red tip, creating an explosion in that place.

Seth wasn't to be outdone by Joanna. He sheathed two laser pistols, reached into his right pants pocket and activated the explosive bomb towards the front. The round hand bomb rolled endlessly, exploding with such force that it crushed several of the cockroach's bodies until its organs and fluids covered Seth and Joanna's bodies.

Joanna screamed loudly, trying to remove the disgusting creatures from her clothes. Her distracted attention left her unprotected. The bug stabbed Joanna's body until the bug's leg pierced through her front abdomen. Joanna vomited blood because of it.

"JOANNA!"

"Damn bugs!" Seth shouted.

He shot brutally all over the place, hoping the insects that surrounded him were all dead.

His mind was racing; he couldn't think straight in such a worrying situation. That's what made Seth regret doing it. He didn't have time to protect himself until the insect attack succeeded in beheading Seth.

Seth's head fell, rolling on the ground, and then the monsters began to eat his body sadistically, as well as Joanna's body. They both died 12 hours after the game started.

Seth, who was daydreaming while walking down from the hoverbike, was suddenly startled with both hands grabbing his head, throbbing so painfully until he nearly lost his body consciousness.

He knelt down in resignation, dropping his bag as his right hand tried to grab his bottle of headache relief. Seth took three tablets and downed them without drinking.

His eyes closed, trying to calm himself in the hope that the pain in his head would begin to ease. Slowly but surely, the pain disappeared until his consciousness returned. Seth found himself sitting on the hotel rooftop without leaning on anything.

"Joanna?" asked Seth, his eyeballs starting to glow and his memory returning.

"MY NECK!" complained Seth.

Although it was only a few seconds, but Seth clearly remembered his neck being severed at that moment, and then it was black and nothing, as if he was asleep and not having a dream. Seth stood up straight, looked around him and saw his surroundings had changed significantly.

"Am I looping time again?" Seth asked.

His eyes fell on his system bracelet. The finger of his left hand pressed the status menu on the bracelet's screen, displaying a blue holographic screen showing his current status.

"That's right. I've looped back two days," Seth complained.

His mind went to someone when he realized he had travelled back in time. Seth grabbed his shoulder bag that was lying on the ground, cradling it as he entered the door that connected to the VIP hotel floor.

He ran so fast that the thunderous sound of his steps could be heard by the other VIP room neighbours. Seth rudely opened Mia's bedroom door, startling the woman who looked beautiful with her long, wet, black hair and smooth white skin covered only by the towel wrapped around her breasts.

"MIA! Thankfully, you're still—"

"GET OUT!" shouted Mia, her face bright red as she threw a pillow at Seth.

Seth immediately closed the door to the room with a smile on his face. He sat gratefully, his head raised to stare at the ceiling of the VIP floor corridor.

The room door before Seth opened slowly. A woman who was none other than the wife of the new bride appeared. The look in her eyes seemed to intimidate Seth right after she heard a woman's scream from Mia's room.

"Don't look for opportunities in a fallen world, young man!" the woman growled.

"Please don't listen to her. You may continue with your business," pleaded the husband, dragging his wife inside.

Seth sighed softly with a light laugh. He turned his head to the right side, to the emergency exit where the Skywatchers would come tonight to arrest the Arcada, that is, if tonight the group of criminal survivors planned to rob the merchants beside the hotel.

"This is my chance. I'm going to fix my mistake!"
